Another FAB holiday at Acorns and this time, we stayed for the duration as the rain stayed away!

Once again, Pam & Albert were the perfect host / hostess, being there if needed but not at all 'in the way'.

Nothing was too much trouble, we asked for 'our' pitch at the time of booking and this was allocated to us with no problem.

Pam & Albert apologised as they said that they were 'rather busy' on the week we were there (after the Aug Bank Hol), but we like their 'busy' as the total amount of units could not have exceeded 8 and by our last night, we were the only ones left!

We made use of their beautiful surroundings, lovely trail and orienteeting course which was thoroughly enjoyed by all (including the dog).

Toilet block was immaculate as always and it was no problem to Pam or Albert if the call of nature (for a 6 year old) came during the cleaning hour!

This is a beautiful site which has everything if you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of everything & chill out.

We will most definitely be visiting again - we only wish it could be transported a little closer to our home so weekend visits were an option!

Thanks Pam & Albert, your site is a credit to you both and as we said - we WILL be back!

We have just returned from an excellent weekend at The Acorns; a welcome break from a stressful period in our lives.

The site is immaculate and clearly (and rightly) the pride and joy of the owners.

A previous reviewer felt that the owners were overly strict; we never felt this way - with them going out of their way to be friendly and helpful (even apologising for forgetting to activate the extractor in the showers after cleaning!).

Although there issometraffic noise from the A27 this wasneverintrusive-it wasmore of a hum, whichwasnormally trumped by thenoise from thewoodland directly behind thepitches (owlsetc).Thissmall site offers immaculate facilities and small but welcome extras like weather print outs and leaflets detailing the numerous local walks.

There is a pub within 5 mins walk of the site, which didquite nice food. The Spanish restaurant in thevillage is meant tobe good too.

We will definiteley return.

This was our first experience of camping, (other than when our two sons were in the cubs and we helped out.) We decided to test out our new tent and equipment close to home and chose Acorns campsite. There were four of us in our party (five, if you include our dog), my wife, myself and our two teenage sons of 16 and 19. We had two tents on pitches next to each other, one with EHU.
The pitches were very generous in size and set in a beautiful, peaceful woodland location. There were separate shower/toilet facilities for men and women (two toilets and showers in each), both kept immaculately clean, with piping hot water and free! There was also an undercover dish washing area, with lovely hot water, which was also kept very clean and tidy. There were recycle bins provided, and a bin for vegetable waste, which will be composted on site. There is a village just down the lane (about a 15/20 minute walk away) with an assortment of shops, where you can buy the basics.
There is a pub close by, which does food, but we are unable to comment on this as we didn't eat there. We also enjoyed the short woodland walk within the site, and particularly liked listening to the owls during the evening and throughout night .The campsite was perfect for us, quiet and relaxed.
Albert and Pam have created an idyllic little haven for people to chill out and enjoy the surroundings. The only stressful time for us.  trying to fit our tent back into its bag, when we had to leave! We will definitely be returning, even though we are less than four miles away!

Pretty site in an attractive location with spacious pitches, spotless well maintained facilities and pleasant owners. Nice touches included thorough rubbish recycling, a free 'help yourself' box of surplus veg from the garden and a print out of the local weather forecast pinned up daily.
We had to ring up to make sure we had the right place as the very clear directions we were sent directed us to an entrance with no sign of a campsite, and with what appeared to be a padlocked gate barring the way. We were told that they "don't want to attract passing trade".
Prior to this we had been asked to sign a three page contract with our booking, agreeing to such things as not using charcoal barbecues on pain of "instant expulsion", and that we wouldn't bang nails into trees etc. I think a polite notice or quiet word would have been enough. Most campers are trustworthy after all?
It was also made very clear that the balance of our booking was to be paid on arrival, and the owner politely made very sure he had his money within minutes, in the middle of the field, before we'd even got the car boot open.
I'm sure that the owners want to preserve a special environment and that they feel these measures help to do so. I would argue that we've stayed in plenty of equally attractive and well maintained sites in the past, eg/ working farms with more to loose by letting people in, and sites where we've seen kingfishers on the way to the loo (without the A27 drowning out the dawn chorus) without such an 'exclusive' attitude.
Please don't be put off, we would recommend this site, and it deserves to be a success. We would consider staying there again, we can only hope the owners can learn to feel more relaxed about it.

Myself and my boyfriend spent a lovely weekend at Acorns campsite in September. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the owners who made sure we were happy with everything and spent time informing us of places to eat in the local area and all about the site.
The site was very peaceful and the shower block immaculate! Would definitely visit again and would certainly highly recommend!

Our family of four camped at Acorns for the first time in our brand new eight-man Coleman tent. I had searched the internet for a woodland campsite because I was tired of campsites resembling a supermarket car park. On arrival at Acorns the owners, Pam and Albert, were friendly and helpful allowing us to leave our bikes until check-in time and allowing us to change our pitch.
The site is beautiful, quiet (except for night-time road noise) secure and peaceful.
It boasts: open space, nature trails, wildlife and the loveliest toilet block ever seen in a campsite. (My wife thought the ladies showers could have been a bit hotter.)
The site is close to the village of Angmering with useful shops including Fish & Chips and is just a few minutes drive from a choice of pebble beach resorts. We enjoyed a day trip to Arundel Castle. All in all, Acorns campsite was voted “Best Campsite Ever” by us and although we may be fair weather campers, we are choosy as well. We will return.

A couple of months ago I somewhat foolishly asked my 5 year old daughter if she fancied a camping trip. My wife was having none of it (I think she may have come if there was a 5* hotel next to the site for her use but alas) so my daughter and I set off alone.

My visit to Acorns was the first time camping since I was a scout (more than 20 years ago) and daughter's first ever. I doubt we could have picked a better place to break our duck. From the moment we were met to the moment we left we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Not being seasoned campers it is difficult to compare the facilities but I very much doubt there will be much better. The toilets and showers were immaculately clean and never busy. The site was quiet and not over crowded and if you don't need a mains hook-up the "glade" area is excellent for privacy and for exploring the surrounding woodlands. The site owners were very accommodating and helpful and obviously care about creating a very pleasant environment for everyone; they have succeeded.

Despite being very close to the dual carriageway the road noise is hardly noticeable, certainly not enough to disturb us.

The Woodman was a little disappointing but The Spotted Cow in the village was well worth the short car ride - good food & good beer.

The beach at Climping was a great for children with its expansive shallows in which to catch hundreds of small fry and generally mess about!

All in all a great weekend. We will be back some day I'm sure!

Well, what more can I say that hasn't been said before!

Beautiful campsite, wonderful owners, fantastic toilet block, shame about the weather!

We were due to stay 4 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend but the good old British weather put pay to that - we (along with a few others), had to abandon camp half way through due to leakage.

The two days that we had there though were fantastic - we had an enormous pitch.  All the units were really well spaced so you certainly were not getting in the way of anyone.

Pam invited us to join the Guides in a Mini Beast Hunt on Sat afternoon and our 5yr old had a brilliant time (OK, so did we!).  The trail that the guides have set up is very good and we were all amazed at the amount of 'beasts' that were found!

Didn't really have that much time to explore due to the weather but we will most certainly be going back to do so.

Highly recommended!

Very nice site has the best toilet block I have ever seen on a site. The Robinsons would happly stay again, very eco friendley with a great woodland setting, they brought round a recycling bin which was a nice touch. There was a group of about 4 caravans next to us but they were good and kept the noise down at night

Having arrived in weather, best described as a monsoon, we were met by Albie and Pam and given a very warm welcome. They even braved the elements late evening to check we were happily settled, with no problems.
The site lived up to its description of being quiet and peaceful. We are sure that we would have made more use of the woodland with the children had the weather permitted as camp making could become compulsory!
The facilities, which are brand new are first class, being heated and spotlessly clean.
There is plenty to do in the area and the local pubs serve reasonable food for all the family.
We will be returning during 2007 and definitely on a number of occasions.
