We have visited this superb site many times over many years and despite changing hands since our first visits 10 years ago, standards are still exemplary. However, it is busier than it used to be and because we hadn't booked we had to pitch for a couple of nights on the hardstandings in front of the caravans which wasn't the same without the views! The facilities are immaculate and constantly being cleaned - but becoming small with a full campsite, especially when one of the three ladies' toilets became out of use! Notwithstanding the owners could not be more cheery and helpful, with an excellent little shop on site (and a fresh veg van visiting in the morning) and good local information room. Previous reviews say everything else! Good meal in The Lugger in the village in the evening and ideal for lovely walks out to the stunning coastline and around the peninsular. Beautiful location and will visit again no doubt for the above and it is handy for the ferry across to Fowey despite the stiff climb back up the hill. The onsite caravans looked immaculately kept too for when we get tired of camping!

We visited this site for the fourth time in early June and as usual the standard of all the facilities was very high indeed. We rang on spec to check availability and the man on the phone was friendly and very helpful.
The view of the channel and Fowey estuary from the bottom field(which is tents only) is what brings us back year after year and we cannot recommend it enough. Once it was a little bit windy at the front of the field, but this was the exception and we have never been bothered by it any other time. Our 4 year old boy Tommy spends his time running around the field and on the swings, there are only 2 swings on site(well, you wouldn't want enormous climbing frames spoiling the vista) but the park at the top of the hill is a lovely stroll and is a spectacular place for the young ones to play.
The toilet block is always immaculate and the communal fridge in the washing room is a godsend if you like a cold beer. Our only reservation on recommending it too highly is that everyone else will discover our favorite site and we wont be able to book in the future.

This is an excellent small, quiet campsite with seaviews for many pitches, and seems better located for classy Fowey (via foot ferry) than its rivals. The walk back involves a good calf stretch but equally so for rival campsites and it's made easier by a pint or two of St. Austell brewery's Tribute in Polruan. The campsite is clean and well-equipped, with very helpful manager Kevin.
With good weather all week we never got bored of the out-of-the-way beach at Lantic Bay a mile to the east (fitness required) - a real treat although a wetsuit is desirable for extended swims in June.
When dining in Polruan's pubs give the Lugger a wide berth and head straight for the Russell Inn.
No negatives, perfect for us. Happy camping.

Just wanted to tell everybody and to say thank you to the owners for making our stay so enjoyable.
In over 25 years of enthusiastic caravanning, Polruan is the best site we’ve ever stayed on. The constant dedication from the owners to keep this site in tip-top condition deserves every success.
Toilets, showers and everywhere immaculate. Good laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer, and ironing facilities, also a nice little touch, a drinks machine with fridge and a microwave for the campers. Superb information room with internet, reading books, and a payphone. Sheep and cows in the surrounding fields, fantastic sea views from the camping field, but not from the touring field, still all superb. This park should be 5 stars we will be back thanks again.

What a lovely site - it's immaculate, the owners are friendly and do not stop. Facilities all kept very clean.
Lovely quiet site so relaxing when we were here -nice pitch with the added bonus of a sea view.
Polruan is small but you can use the pedestrian ferry over to Fowey if you want more selection of bars shops etc. Cost of ferry is £1.20 and the last ferry from Fowey is 11pm.
Would not hesitate to use this site again

This is a wonderful campsite. We do plan to return, as unfortunately our stay was cut short by the terrible British weather!
The toilet and shower block were immaculate at all times and there is a well stocked shop on site and an information room where you can access the internet (for a small fee) and pick up leaflets which detail local attractions.
The village itself is lovely, especially the harbour area. A day trip to Fowey on the ferry is a must. We took the passenger ferry to Fowey and the car ferry back to Bodinnick and returned to Polruan via the fields.
The only negative aspect of the site are the timed showers which I've never before encountered at a campsite. Perhaps they are commonplace elsewhere? You get seven minutes, which if you've got a lot of hair to wash like me can be a challenge!

The site is family run and is situated high above the cliffs giving sea views from most of the pitches. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the owner Kevin who emphasized their (the family) commitment to make our holiday an enjoyable one, which, they clearly did. The friendly atmosphere, which we feel, is part of a camping holiday was very evident and this to some extent reflects the smooth running of the site. We met a couple from Holland who for the last 20 years have travelled to this site for their annual camping holidays.
The site is clean and tidy with nice touches like bird feeders, loads of flowering plant containers and flower beds. There is a well stocked shop at reception, which stocks most needed food items, fresh milk etc. and camping items. There is a pay phone, hot drinks machine and computer for internet hire - for geeks like me there are plans to introduce site Wi-Fi in the next couple of months.
All facilities were kept very clean and Trudy was always nearby with her tray of cleaning equipment at the ready. Showers are free and give a very generous 7 mins.
Close by is the costal path with fantastic walks. We did research some walks before leaving but found there is a free leaflet at reception detailing the local walks. We did walk to Polperro and then caught the bus back to Polruan. (Free time-table leaflet in reception.) The bus passes the camp site and the driver was quite happy to stop there.
Not too much more to add because previous reviews say it all. This is another gem of a site which UKCampsite.co.uk helped us find.

Whilst travelling to the campsite we wondered what we had let ourselves in for as we manoevered down many narrow single track roads but it was well worth it all once we got there. The campsite is reasonably small and saves the best views for the campers which makes a refreshing change! The site has a well stocked shop selling all that you could need at very reasonable prices. The toilet and shower blocks are code protected and were cleaned several times a day.
Location is perfect for visiting Fowey, Looe and St Austell with both pedestrian and car ferries taking you accross the harbor, at very reasonable prices.
We can only think of 2 downfalls to our stay. 1. The hill back up to the campsite is not for the unfit! and 2. That our stay hadn't been longer.
We would definetly return here if in the area.

We have recently stayed at this gorgeous campsite, and just had to tell everyone how GORGEOUS it is. We were down visiting relatives who live nearby (lucky devils) and we were blown away by this truly gorgeous part of Cornwall, which we visited for the first time. Forget Newquay, it is a dump, compared to this lovely area, and this campsite is just fantastic, and cost us a lot less than another site we stayed at in Perranporth, last year. Everything about this site is fantastic. It's clean, comfortable, quiet, it has a play area for the kids, and gorgeous views. We will DEFINITELY BE BACK! Thankyou Polruan for giving us the best holiday ever!

I can't remember a nicer site. Camped with friends and just relaxed so well. Site clean, folk so friendly. Small and kinda old fashioned as in no hype, bar, etc but all facilities newly built or refurbed and lovely. Clean all working well.
Shop good and not a rip off. View from tents amazing. Sea, cows hills mmmmm. Veg van drives round in the morning and we liked that too.
Map from site office showed us a stunning walk from the site inland then along the river and over car ferry to Fowey. Good way to visit Fowey as pricey there. Fowey is well worth visiting.
Cannot fault site at all, will be back as only hour or less from home.
Local village old and pretty. Fab views and just amazing athmosphere of waterfront. Views from pub in quay good but dinner (Its the Lugger inn) was very poor. Fish cakes luke warm (hunt the fish) Peas tinned and stewed and still they served them cold, new pots reheated taste, scallops flotated in a bowl of butter, chewy and oily. No-one in our party happy with meal. Smiley waitress despite having to serve the food poor kid. Friends with us had eaten in the other pub before and wished we had gone there.
But campsite fabulous.
