Just returned from an August bank holiday stay at Polruan. Our experience was fantastic. Granted the weather was as good as in the med but the site and welcome was second to none.
We had fabulous views on a very generous extremely well maintained corner plot on the bottom field.
The owners were more than accommodating in every way possible.
A totally wonderful break. Thank you. No hesitation in recommending to anyone considering staying there.

An excellent and immaculate small site. Everything from the planting to the laundry to the toilet facilities is spotless. Not a site for those that want to be noisy - a lot of its magic was its peace and quiet, which the owners are keen to maintain. A warm welcome. One of the best stocked shops I have ever seen on a site (no license so you need to bring your own alcohol). And a open backed van arrives 2/3 times weekly with fresh locally grown produce which is a real treat. Great location for getting into Fowey and walking generally. We will be back.

We attended this campsite for the second time and had an equally great experience as the first time.
The site is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend the site. It has the best views I have ever had at a campsite and a great camp shop. Polruan is a small and friendly place where you can get good meals from the local pubs and cafes.
We are definitely going to return.
The ferry to Fowey is fun and very frequent and the walks along the coast are amazing.
It is a really well maintained and comfortable campsite. Its very popular as we saw many of the same faces from our last visit which is a nice thing to recognise people from before.

We stopped at the site for two nights at the end of a week in Cornwall and were very pleased with the choice we’d made. On arrival at the site, it was very attractive with lots of flowers and well kept pitches.
We were asked to pitch just inside the entrance on the circle of grass but we were concerned by the proximity to the other units because of our dogs, the owner was very accommodating and moved us to a pitch in the field behind reception which was just perfect for our needs; whilst we had requested electric hook up we ended up on a non-electric pitch which really didn’t matter in the height of the summer as we were able to put our perishables in the communal fridge and charge up our phones etc. Free of charge in reception.
The views from our pitch were beautiful and there was masses of space between us and our neighbours. The facilities were great, very clean and well looked after with a very well stocked shop and a fruit and veg man who visited the site every other day. We did notice that the site seemed to have quite a few rules about noise etc. But we were quite happy for these as it meant that our stay was quiet and thoroughly relaxing.
There is great walking off of the site (providing you don’t mind hills!) with easy access to the coast path and into the village where we tried The Lugger Inn for dinner on our second night. I can’t compliment the food enough, the pub was pretty busy but they were happy to accommodate us and our dogs for dinner providing we had booked in advance.
Great site and beautiful area, wouldn’t hesitate to come back here.

An incredible site, really a class above. We travelled to Cornwall from Hampshire in our vintage campervan and received a warm welcome, a flat pitch (Some have a small slope, easily levelled) and facilities to write home about, incredible clean and well kept. I believe the fee to be low, but the owners want to remain competitive with nearby sites. Situated at the top of the hill the Polruan side of the Fowey estuary, a local foot passenger ferry connects the two. The nearby Lantic Beach and Hall walk are well worth a visit. A quiet site with numerous rules (which boil down to leave things as you'd like to find them, and respect the site and your fellow campers). Visits from a local veg van, hot food van (mondays and with a well stocked site shop. Clean toilets, hot showers, hot water at washing up point, grey water and toilet disposal. We used the electric hook up and free WiFi, I can't recommend this site enough.

Virtually all the other reports on this site are favourable, and while we agree with many of them we’re going to concentrate on our own experience, which was the most stressful and unpleasant in more than 40 years of camping.
It all centred around the multitude of rules and regulations. Despite the fact that they’re posted on the website and you have to sign in agreement when booking, you’re given yet another copy on arrival, and each rule is then repeated and expanded to an improbable degree on a large noticeboard at reception. Virtually every suitable surface throughout the site carries reminders or what you can and cannot do.
Yes, many of the site’s rules are sensible, like speed limits and respecting other campers. But others are simply weird, and none really need repeating so many times. At first we found all this control freakery slightly amusing - until we fell foul of the rule barring all visitors. We’d booked specifically to see our daughter, who was working all summer in Polruan. She met us as we arrived, and – unaware of any rule about visitors – was upset to be promptly shown the gate in a very rude and unfriendly manner.
We explained that my wife was suffering from cancer, and frequently became very tired as a result of her ongoing therapy. We also explained that our daughter had very limited time off and would like to join us one evening for a barbecue. But despite pleading for a little forbearance and offering to pay to add her to the list of permitted occupants, we were met with a blank stone wall of refusal without an ounce of compassion, understanding or apology from the charmless management.
Woe betide anyone who disobeys the iron rule of the family in charge of this place. Yes, our daughter was naughty and crept in through an open gate to spend a couple of hours with her mother. But surely this was no excuse for the owner’s son to accuse me of having ‘invented’ my 73-year-old wife’s cancer. He then ripped our hookup cable from the bollard, and tore our two dog tethers from the pitch, leaving them in a heap on the ground.
So yes, it’s a clean and tidy site with a good sea view and handy access to the coast path. But we found that while the rule of ‘absolute silence’ between 10:30 and 08:00 ensured restful nights, the general air of ‘obey our orders and don’t dare otherwise’ extended throughout the day to stifle the bonhomie that is more usual – and pleasant – on a campsite. This is not a happy place to spend precious holiday time.
I’ve always thought that the way in which issues are dealt with is the distinction between good and bad management. Our experience here exposed the reality beneath the outward appearance of cleanliness and calm.

Stayed at this site for a couple of nights over a weekend at the end of a trip around Cornwall.
On arrival it's obvious this site is well looked after and that kind of sets the scene for the stay. There is a sheet of rules that the owners want you to adhere to, but whilst it looks a lot; these are really common sense that keeps everyone's stay enjoyable. Facilities were good and always clean; the shop was well stocked, the location was excellent for the pubs in the village, the coastpath and the passenger ferry over to Fowey.
The camping fields are a little sloping, so getting level is a challenge; but that's made up for with the great views out to sea. The grass is well kept and there is nice formal and informal planting of flowers and native plants around the site. The road in to the site is single track in places, which did mean a fair bit of reversing to passing places when we left.
It's a shame the site doesn't open for longer throughout the year, as it'd be great to visit in winter.
All-in-all a really good site that we're glad we ended our holiday at. We'll look forward to returning hopefully next year.

We have just returned from another stay at this fantastic holiday site and it is as amazing as ever. The owners Kevin, Trudy and their son Barry work so hard to keep everywhere immaculate and clean, and their hospitality is simply first class.
The views are magnificent and it is so peaceful and quiet that relaxing is easy. We hadn't been away for a couple of years so being able to just switch off and enjoy ourselves was very important and that is exactly what we did, we can't wait to get back again soon.
I would not hesitate to recommend this gem of a place to anybody, the views, peace, . Everything!Big thanks of course to Kev, Trudy and Barry for making our holiday and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Wonderful site, family run, immaculate facilities, toilets and showers spotlessly clean free hot showers. Free WI FI, very friendly and helpful owners. Site shop well stocked and good prices. Our 7. 5 metre motorhome was on the top end of the permitted length due to access but we had no problem getting onto the site and pitching up on level grass. Lovely sea views. An abundance of wild life around site and the ducks daily visits made everyone smile. The site is very well run and Polruan has two good pubs and across the water by ferry Fowey is very unspoilt and pretty.

Just returned from a fantastic visit to this immaculate site, the sea views from the camping fields are brilliant. The site is family run by Trudie, Kevin and there son Barry they are so welcoming and helpful.
We stayed on one of the 6 perfectly level hard standing pitches, don't worry if you haven't got a motor mover as Barry and Kevin are always on hand to help push your van into position.
This was our second visit to the site and we were not disappointed, the site shop is well stocked with not only lots of lovely goodies but also all the essentials you need. I had to make a purchase of mozi repellent and after bite and it was a fraction of the cost I would of paid had I purchased them from a chemist. There is a van that comes round every other day selling fresh bread, cakes, scones and fruit & veg.
We stayed here for 10 days and only used our car once, we used the local ferry to visit Fowey & Mevagissey we even hired a boat for a couple of days to visit some of the coves that can only be reached from the sea. We were spoilt for walks and views the local pubs served amazing locally caught & grown food.
How this place has not won loo of the year I really don't know. The only disappointment is that it's not open all year round, we would love to visit in the winter.
