This is a great site. Small and quiet with a lovely scene at night of the nearby Wallace monument all lit up. Because you are at the foot of a large slope (which by the way is great to climb) if it does rain heavy the tent area is worst affected and becomes very boggy. Arrived once and had to leave because of it. Oh and the site is off a main road with nothing really walkable so with no real shop or entertainment facilities (essentials such as milk and rowies can be bought at reception) I would say this place is more for adults wanting a peaceful break than a family site.

August 2004 Excellent site. Fantastic location & what a view to wake up to! Good facilities, friendly, helpful staff and very peaceful (apart from the sheep munching away in the next field!). Recommended for all - couples, families, kids, adults, groups - it's big enough to find your own space!

June 2004 This was the first time I had been camping in years and was a bit apprehensive about what to expect. Witches Craig was fab, the staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds were clean, comfy and spacious and the toilet block was very clean. So much to do in the area as well and we didnt experience any of the dreaded midgies!! First class.

August 2003 A great site in a beautiful setting. The wardens are friendly and helpful. The toilet block is immaculate and even has Scottish country dance music playing during the day. You had to remember 20p for the showers though. I was up early (6am) one day and spotted a warden with a clipboard checking the entire play area to ensure that it was still safe. The play area was in a landscaped and fenced off area, so no dogs could get in. There was a dog walk at the rear of the site. The wardens had dogs themselves, so definitely a dog friendly site. There isn't a shop on site, but they do sell milk and rolls and newspapers. For campers, there was a fridge and also a freezer, which was free for all to use. No one touched any other peoples stuff while we were there. There was also a cold drinks dispenser. The only downside for me was the motorbikes revving along the very straight road outside the site. Oh, and the million midges! The big plus was sitting in the near dark, with stars just appearing, rugged hills all around and the impressive, lit up Wallace monument looming up out of the dark trees. Wow!

Aug '03 Top Marks, a wonderful site, breathtaking scenery, lots of places to visit within short car ride. Staff at the site we're very helpful and pleasant, shower/toilet block A1, very clean, not sure about the piped music though.
We will definetly be going back to this site.
