Fantastic adult only site! I was in 2 minds about writing this review as i did'nt want to attract the masses but that would be unfair to the owners and in particular the 2 wardens, tony & elizabeth, who obviously work very hard to maintain the site to the highest of standards. The facilities are kept immaculately clean with 2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 showers(not the push button type which was great) in both the mens and womens. The grounds and camping/touring areas have very short cut grass which looks well manicured and this is further enhanced with a large fishing lake surrounded by mature trees which looks very scenic.
You can pay to fish the lake whilst camping and you do get people just coming to fish the lake but everybody was very friendly from fellow campers to fishermen and this just enhanced the whole experience.
All pitches are of a reasonable size and all have ehu which is paid for separately by use of electric meter cards so you only pay for what you use but you can stay without electric.
The touring caravans and motorhomes do have the best pitches as these overlook the lake but you can still walk round the lake and explore the grounds in this area. The camping areas are in two areas, one which is a large exposed open area which overlooks the neighbouring fields and has just 4 ehu points but i think you can camp here without electric as well and the main tent field which has approx 8 pitches all with ehu and all are a good size. This area is less exposed and is better sheltered but has no real views. Wherever you pitch what you will notice is the peace and quiet, this is an adult only site so no kids running riot and it was bliss. If you are looking to party all night then this is not the site for you but if you are looking for some peace and quiet with good facilities and immaculately kept grounds then book quick before everybody finds it.
Well done to all concerned - we can't wait to go back.

FABULOUS is the one word to describe this peaceful and well kept site. Cherry & Keith are the great wardens, and nothing is too much trouble for them. So much so our Caravan now lives there and Lakeside is now our weekend retreat, and to spend the odd week there. Husband loves the lake for the fishing, I like the peace and quiet. Great for local attractions ie York, Millington Wood and Bridlington on the coast. Cannot recommend this site enough.

Just got back from this absolutely fantastic campsite, and I'm already booking to go again. I cannot speak highly enough of this site. The wardens were absolutely great, so friendly and helpful. The facilities are spotless and everyone we met on the campsite was so friendly. If your a fisherman or fisherwoman, you will be absolutely spoilt with the well stocked lake and the surroundings.

Great site well located for a pleasant quiet break, good fishing and just a short drive to the supermarkets in nearby bielby. Stayed for 12 days and had a great time. Now heres the drawback, the site warden is a jobs worth and is very strict with the rules and there is no give with him, overall a great site well located and friendly campers.

I sent a text message to a friend last weekend on our first, hopefully of many, visits to Lakeside -'I've just found something special. ' And boy was it special, a warm and friendly welcome and told to go and get sorted and pay later.
We had a problem in that we couldn't reach the ehu post in the space available to pitch our tent, but this was solved when we were given an extension.
We got the tent set up for our overnight stay, then went for a walk round the lake. The people already fishing were having a lovely day in the sunshine and were keen to pass on advice. Back at reception we eventually paid and what a bargain, we were given directions to a nearby town and went off to do some shopping.
Later on we went down to do an evening of fishing, 4 fish later we decided at dusk to give up for the day and go back to the tent. The tent area like the rest of the park was nice and peaceful, people were having a nice time socialising with friends but respecting the rules of the site and other campers, everyone retured for the night early
A lot of effort had gone into landscaping the site, there were lots of little touches like hand soap in the washing up area. The shower block was heated and clean with free showers and although there wasn't anywhere to put your clothes apart from a hook on the back of the door this didn't cause a problem, there was a shower curtain so no wet clothes and if needed there was a plastic garden chair that might fit in. There were two showers, two toilets, a sink and a cubicle with a sink in inside the ladies but not once was there a queue or a wait. There was a useful information room with books and magazines to swap, leaflets about the surrounding area and further afield, also local take a way menu's etc.
An old red phone box had a dispenser where in case of emergency you could purchase one of the £1 electric cards. We used £2 but had only just put the last card in to finish cooking brunch, we asked what time we needed to take the tent down by only to be told, 'No rush, ' so we ended up having brunch.
We sadly left the campsite and went to find Pocklington canal and had a nice walk along the canal side to the swing bridge. We also went into Pocklington and found a Sainsburys and Aldi just a few minutes drive from the site.
From arriving to leaving there really is nothing bad I can say about this site, everyone we came across were so warm, friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and I can't wait to get back there again. The opportunity to relax in such beautiful surroundings was a much welcome break from the stresses of everyday living and the wardens were so dedicated to keeping the site immaculate and everyone happy, I'm checking my holidays to see when I can get time off work so we can go back.

We arrived for our first but not the last visit to lakeside, we where welcomed as if we where royalty, the area is first class we where parked in our touring caravan looking over the lake. The facilities showers toilet block very good indeed they are kept very clean. The grass and surrounding area is kept better than some golf courses. This is a very good base, there is a good garden centre about 2 miles away they serve good food, on the same road as the garden centre A1079 there is a pub and restaurant, you are only a sort drive from York, Bridlington and Filey, would recommend to everybody

Just had a weekend here as it's only a few minutes from home and wanted to bring the caravan out of its hibernation with a visit to a local site. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and allowed us to arrive a couple of hours early as we had a lot planned and they weren't too busy. The site is peaceful and quiet with lovely views of the lake. The shower blocks are basic but clean with with a couple of shower cubicles, loos and sink cubicle. I didn't use the showers so can't comment. Electricity is not included in the price but provided on pre paid cards. We had a £5 one which lasted us all weekend even though we spent a bit more time in the 'van than we would have liked as it was not as warm as the forecast said it would be! BUT we ran the heater off the gas as we weren't sure how long the card would last powering the heater. Overall a lovely little site and will go again

Well this is our third review of lakeside and sadly my last as my wife and I have decided to hang up our tent pegs, so it is fitting that as this was to be our last camp it was at our favourite site. We arrived and met the new warden at lakeside she is so friendly as is the other warden. I cant add to much more to this review other than it is a great site to camp. One of my major gripes has been that tents were not allowed to pitch next to the lake, that's for the sole use of caravans, well I was told by the wardens that from next year there will be parts available for tents that is great if your a camper. Well that's it folks do visit lakeside you will not be disappointed if its peace and tranquillity your after :)

We came across this site by accident and initially stayed for a weekend, and then went back for a week. It is so lovely and peaceful that we decided to store our caravan there and make it our 'getaway. This has worked out really well, as, we phone the site and advise when we want to come up, and when we arrive our caravan is levelled on a pitch and ready to set up. When we leave we just leave it where it is and it gets put in storage. And this was cheaper than leaving it on the farm we previously had it stored at, and saved diesel getting there. A win win situation. The pitches are well spaced, and you have alternatives of a field which is enclosed or next to the fishing lake. I don't think the pictures on the website do this justice. It is peaceful, clean, very well run by the wardens who are always ready to help. The toilets are clean and the showers are great. Pocklington is a lovely small town with everything you need and is only a few miles away. The East coast is about an hours drive, and it is only a few miles to York. If you decide to go to this adults only site you wont regret it.

When they say 'PEACE & TRANQUILLITY' that's just what you get here.
We booked late for the bank holiday but they went out of their way to fit us in and upon our arrival due a cancellation we were even offered a pitch with a stunning lakeside view, we chose to pitch in what's known as the 'laurel field' which is nicely tucked away and only holds about 8 vans or campers, so was lovely and quiet, even with the site full you could still hear a pin drop at night and wake to the sounds of the birds and not shouting and screaming children!
We had a very handy toilet block close by which was spotless as was the main showers and toilets, there was always hot water in the showers and washing up area and even a laundry room.
The wardens were fantastic, they had only been there for a couple of months but treated everyone like old friends, as we were new to caravanning they were always on hand and happy to help.
We loved it so much we booked back on again in a couple of weeks and they kindly offered to let us leave our van in storage, this was fantastic as it saved us the trouble of towing it home and then back again.
We can't wait to get back there!
A huge THANK YOU for making our stay so great and making us(and our dog) feel so welcome. We have finally found our utopia.
