We arrived for our first visit to Lakeside to a very warm welcome from Cherry and Keith, being new to caravan ownership Cherry had Keith on hand to help us set up and explain how everything worked. We where up and running in no time. The shower toilet block was spotless and not once did I have to queue.

Fresh free range available daily, they where beautiful, Cherry keeps a small selection of emergency goods should you run out just check she might have some. You can purchase gas, Keith even fitted it for us. Electric cards are in £1 £5 £10, we used only £1 to see how it went, 3 days and only spent £2.

The grounds are very well kept with the grass kept neat and mowed, the vans aren't too close together so you don't feel all on top of each other. It is lovely and peaceful plenty of birds and Grebes to watch as they go about their daily tasks.

A nice walk all round the lake takes about 20 mins unless you find someone to talk to, I found everyone so friendly. Pocklington is a lovely little market town with some really nice shops I found an excellent bakers on the main Market Place.

There are 2 fish and chip shops a Chinese takeaway and a Chinese restaurant, found a small Co op in the same area. We are now storing our caravan at Lakeside and look forward to our next visit. I don't have any negative points

Yet another great weeks camping @ lakeside, met by the smiling faces of cherry & keith, we felt right at home on our 2nd visit to lakeside,

Again superb fishing and how I enjoyed my early 5am walk around the lake, if you are looking for a site with total peace and quite then this is the site for you we look forward to returning again.

There has been the introduction of barriers since our last visit and this made for a more secure feeling,

The facilities are very good never once had to queue for the showers

The site is kept immaculate by Keith who keeps the grass to golf course standards

I cannot recommend lakeside enough for the quiet and the friendliness

This was our second visit to Lakeside and I have to say I left this time rather disappointed. The setting is lovely and the idea of an adults only site is appealing after raising two children. However, the emphasis was on peace and tranquillity for the caravan owners but not for anyone else. I booked our visit for a group of Dandy folding campers (about six units) in January of this year and specifically asked if we could pitch around the beautiful lake which is the centrepiece of the site. I received a reply saying that we had all been put in the Laurals but not knowing where this specific area was, thought that we were in fact around the lakeside somewhere. This was not the case. Even though we paid the same price as a caravan, we were stuck in a back field with a lovely view of the caravan storage area. When I approached the site warden I was told that he would 'bring my thoughts to the notice of the owner'. Frankly not good enough. When I pointed out that a Dandy uses less pegs and groundsheet area than a caravan awning I was ignored.

The site facilities did not seem able to cope either. There is one shower block which is housed in the main toilets. Two showers each for males and females for the entire campsite which were running cold by 9. 30am. Don't forget that this was in March at the start of the season and the site was running at about 40% capacity. I again brought this to the attention of the warden, who's reply was 'They (Us campers) have used all the hot water'.

Since last year the site has introduced 6 amp pre payment electrics on the back field and 10 amp (I think) for the Caravans. We had to purchase cards which were placed into a slot in the electricity boxes and the amount of money paid showed on a meter. We used £1. 40p worth in two days but were told that you didn't get any unused credit back. You only get back the price of any unused cards which you return to the office upon leaving. Hint. Only buy the £1. 00 cards and use them because if you buy the £5. 00 cards you may end up paying for a lot of electricity you don't use.

Another shock was the fact that any visitors you have who are not actually staying on the site are charged at £3. 00 per person per day. This cost is not recovered from the visitor by the warden but is taken from the £10. 00 deposit you pay for the fob you need to get through the security gate even if the visitors are uninvited. Our friends visitors actually went into the office upon their arrival and asked the warden where we were pitched and the warden had ample opportunity to charge them the £3. 00 there and then. Our fellow campers asked the warden why he felt that they should be responsible for collecting fees on his behalf but were again left with little explanation.

I left Lakeside feeling that anyone with a tent or trailer tent is considered a nuisance. I paid exactly the same as a caravan and should have been able to take advantage of the views over the lake. Not over the Caravan storage area. Sorry Lakeside but I won't be back or recommending you.

After 9 hour journey the arrival at Lakeside was a welcome site. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the new wardens and shown to promised pitch location (right next to lake).

Unfortunately your caravan has to be positioned with the back of the caravan towards the lake so the view from your van is towards other caravans rather than the pleasant view of the lake.

Our stay at Lakeside was for two weeks and, having booked from the internet, we were pleased with our selection. It is a quite site and adults only. The toilets are clean with other facilities up to an acceptable standard.

Having a dog we were surprised that we were not allowed to walk the dog around the lake and had to use the caravan storage area to exercise the dog. Our stay was very enjoyable and the fishing was excellent with both caravanners and day fisherman bagging good catches.

Site does sell some fishing bait and expect the new wardens will increase the stock variety. Paying for fishing (£6 a day for those staying at the site) is made using an excellent envelope payment system but was annoyed to have to pay £5 if you had been out for the day and only wanted to fish in the evening which was from 4. 00pm to 7. 30pm (Ok for summer when fishing ends at 9. 00pm) with only £6 for a full day.

There are a few seasonal caravans, position to the rear of the site, and many of the tourers were folk who kept their vans in storage at Lakeside and visited at weekends.

The village of Pocklington is only 4 miles away and has numerous shops including Sainsburys and Aldi as well as a cinema. You have to go to York for any fishing tackle (I recommend York Tackle - 10 miles). There are numerous pubs in the area which serve food.

Overall an excellent stay with everyone on site (both wardens and fellow caravanners) very friendly. We do plan to return for another stay in the future and certainly recommend this site if you like a quite site and fishing.

This week was our first visit to lakeside but wont be our last, such a lovely friendly, well maintained campsite it is and the fellow campers couldn't do enough for us quite simply a lovely community feel to it!

The fishing lake is well stocked and being an adult only site the men can fish in peace, the toilet blocks are cleaned daily with free showers there's a utility room free for use also, lovely on site safe dog walk with beautiful views!

Lakeside is well situated near to york and pocklington with lots to do! Onsite storage which is priced from £260 is worth thinking about its all safe with security barriers for peace of mind.

Now we've found this perfect site I think were going to struggle to find anywhere else up to the expectations of lakeside!

 Great quiet site, lovely location.

When we arrived heavy rain was imminent, so Cherry and Keith let us pitch straight away, letting us book in the next morning. There had been heavy rain earlier in the day but the unpowered tent site was not waterlogged. As a bonus, the field is fairly flat.

The toilet block is very clean with great showers and a small information room with details of the area. The whole site is clean and tidy. It is around two miles away from the main road and easy to find.

Pocklington is a few miles away with supermarkets and quite a few independent shops - we particularly recommend The Coffee Bean and Pane e Vino. The off licence (Threshers, I think) sells a good variety of local ales. There's also a few pubs, There are regular buses to York, Beverley and Hull from Pocklington.

Would highly recommend this site for a quiet break, even if (like us) you don't fish.

Very easy to find, lovely location, owners very friendly, gave me a choice of location, explained how many tents/caravans were coming and going - I stayed midweek between bank holidays.

No rush for payment I was invited to set up and get settled first, direction for dog walk given and choice of loo's.(Fishermans loo closest and I could take my dog in with me, although this was an outside loo it was sparkling!

Immaculate facilities, hot showers, sinks loo's very clean. Very flat grassed areas, small sheltered area and large open field, both with electric hook up. Very quiet, very relaxing, owners gave me directions for nice walk, local shops etc.

Would definitely go again, as soon as I get a free weekend! As a lone female camper I felt very safe, very comfortable, cant fault anything really,

Only disappointing point was no dog walking around the lake, but as this was explained as a conservation area, I didn't find this a problem. Brill!

Decided to spend the week camping, first time without our daughter. We found Lakeside Adult Caravan Park on campsite search uk, decided to give it a try. And we are so glad that we did! From the moment we approached the site we knew we'd found just the place for us. On arrival, Cherrie was efficient and took the time to tell us about what the site had to offer. We could choose from several spots where to pitch our tent. The tent field is very sheltered.

The facilities, toilets and shower block were spotless, with mops and cloths to wipe round when you'd finished, again showing the pride taken by the mangers of the site. There was always hot water for a free shower.

The lake was clean and very tranquil, just what we needed after a hectic week at work. The fishing was first class with me catching 20lb carp and a few tench and bream. For fishermen (the site even offers bait and toilet facilities.

Although the site allows dogs, at no time were we bothered by them barking or any mess left around.

First class site best I've been to so far will go back again

Excellent site without children, as a teacher a great idea.

Lovely fishing lake to walk around if you dont fish.

Flat pitches on a clean and well maintained site.

Facilities are great and clean and the fact that you don't have to worry about change to use the wishing machine and just pay as you go is a great idea.

Welcome from warden and owner was lovely.

A great location for York and many other areas in Yorkshire, great for cycling too.

The site was lovely, quiet and relaxing.

I highly recommend this site to campers and cravaners.

We chose this site for our first weekend outing with our caravan, as it is not too far from home. The site managers/owners were most welcoming and helpful when they realised we were new to caravanning. The site was kept immaculate and the toilets and showers were spotlessly clean.

It was just a little too quiet for us as we are not into fishing and it seemed that everyone else was there just for the fishing. The site is very close to Pocklington which is a good little shopping town, with a Sainsburys supermarket and a brilliant fish and chip shop. (Stuart's which is on The Pavement).

We went into York for the day on the Sunday, but for a day out closer to the site, Allerthorpe Woods is nice for anyone who enjoys walking and nature.
