We keep coming back to this site as it fits our every need. Quiet, friendly, clean and even fishing which is a bonus. As a retired couple we like the adult site as it makes for a quiet stay and its a good idea to give everyone a choice of where they want to stay. The site is about 15 miles from York or you can go walking on the moors so there is always plenty to do.
Access to the site is easy and the pitches are level so there are no problems setting up your unit, fishing bate can be bought on site and you can also get milk and newspapers but there isn't a shop so make sure you take your own supplies.
Great site and we can highly recommend it.

Had three nights at this site so that my husband could fish the lake. It is one of the best sites we have stayed on. We pitched at the side of the lake, fabulous view from our rear window ! The shower / toilets were absolutely spotless. Nice dog run (dogs not allowed round the lake). Wardens and owner very helpful and friendly. Small quiet site with storage facilities if required. My husband enjoyed the fishing (dawn to dusk only). Will certainly visit again.

I got the feeling that this is a relatively new site but is well managed by very nice people.
Washing/shower facilities were very good.
Lacks a shop but daresay they will invest in one soon
Fishing lake was excellent and a small amount of bait can be bought on site
Very pleasant stay

Occasionally in life you come across something that exceeds your expectations, and this site did it for us. Peaceful, extremely well kept and with first class presentation. We had never been to this area before and we wanted somewhere we could relax in quiet comfort and also be close enough for day trips out to York and the Moors and the beautiful coastline of Yorkshire. We were made welcome soon as we came through the gate, shown to our pitches which were side by side (friends travelled from Norfolk with their tourer) and we were givena quick orientation of the site and facilities. The pitches were nice and level and although we were on grass some were of hard-standing and all the hookup boxes were close. We weres upplied by the warden (without prompting) with a hookup extension lead as we had to reach another more distant box, that's good I thought, shows attention to peoples needs and through the week we were there we that noticed that attention to detail time and time again. When we set up, the water heater developed a leak and requiring a new part, we asked in reception as to the whereabouts of a caravan centre so that we could get the new part- well they made the phone call to a local repairer and supplier of second hand caravan parts to enquire the availability of the part and within the hour we had hot water and a new lens to the awning light!
I have never been to the loo on a campsite that has pot pourri in each cubicle with vases full of flowers, and with a mop and bucket to swab out the shower cubicles after you have used them, but being an adults only site, you just know that it will all still be there in the morning, and not broken! The lake provides well for the fisher people where relaxing walks around the lake can be taken and you will find benches at locations to allow you to sit and chill. The anglers are spoilt with easy access.

We are motohomers who have visited the site on several occasions. Really pretty site even if you don't fish. My husband does not finish work until 7pm and we have nearly a 2 hour drive to reach the site but we now just ring to ensure there is a pitch and we park up on arrival and sort out site fees the following morning. Vicky and Malcolm did seem a little standoff-ish at first but once you get to know them they are a great couple. Better this than being all over you!. They keep the site immaculate and it is a credit to the two of them as they do not have any assistants. We like hard standings because our motorhome is a Hobby 650 which is rather heavy, but even if you park on the grass on the left hand side as you enter the site you will not sink as it is very firm. Yes, there are a lot of seasonal vans there but you get this everywhere now. Even though the toilets and showers are limited it is not a problem. There are 3 fisherman's toilets with no lighting in the fishermans car park which are spotless compared to a lot of big sites we have been on. We now prefer either adult-only sites or smaller, quiet sites as it seems to be the children who make the mess in the toilet blocks. Have another visit - Les4paintings as I am sure you will enjoy your second trip more than your first. If you see us in our Hobby with our yellow tow car come round for a drink. We were there in January in snow and it is really pretty. Burnham Hall in Pocklington is well worth a visit, especially when the water lillies are in flower and feed the Koi Carp in the lakes - thousands of huge ones! By the way, don't all flock there as there won't be room for us!

Lakeside is a very pretty and peaceful site. Providing that you are a keen angler. The site is on the edge of a very scenic lake with spectacular views of peace and tranquility. Unfortunately the fishing section is a completely different business than the caravan section and seems to get priority. As someone else on here is reported as saying." it is more a fishing lake that accepts caravans' than a caravan site that accepts fishing." The toilet block was cleaned daily and was in a clean and tidy condition if a tad on the small side, with just one block containing just two ladies cubicles, two urinals and two gents lavatories with two showers. This was for a field of over thirty caravans. On our visit, during July, we were charged £15:00 per night and would have expected a little more than just a view for our money, but alas, there is nothing else on site. As it is an 'Adults Only' site it is kept clean and tidy by the two wardens although these two could be a little more 'friendly' in their manner towards new visitors, the female of the two,Vicki, has worked most of her life for the NHS and I'm afraid that it showed. We noted that people who had their vans stored there and visited on a regular basis were given exceptional service, whereas new comers seemed to be more of an encumbrance to them. A typical example of this was on the night before we were due to leave, Vicki' the female of the two wardens called on us to ask what time we were thinking of leaving tomorrow as her partner was waiting to put out a storage van ready for the couple to come for the weekend. We were packed up and saying cheerio to the Lancashire couple who we had befriended whilst on site when the warden appeared at the edge of out row with a van on tow.the time, 9.35 am.! Indeed a lovely site.but not one that we would be in a hurry to go back to. In 28 years of towing that is the first time we have ever felt 'in the way' on the day of leaving.

Just returned from our first weekend away with a caravan (been to lakeside in a tent a few times) but this was the first with the van. Excellent as usual...from the emails reserving and confirming our pitch to the warm welcome from Vicki and Malc. Toilets and showers spotless as usual. We will be going again you can bet on that!

Directions: Approach from the A1 by the A64 (sp. York & East Coast). Leave the A64 onto the A1079 (sp. Beverley & Hull). Turn off right in approx. 13 miles (sp. Beilby) and follow 'Lakeside' signs. If you encounter a round-a-bout with a Little Chef adjacent, then you've gone too far.
Number of pitches: Approx. 30 for tourers and motorhomes Prices: £6.50 - £8.50 plus awning @ £1.00 and electrics hook up £1.75 - £2.00 Electric hook ups are available to all but a very few pitches
Entrance to the site is easy, down a long approach road.
Our first impressions were good. We found the site to be very neat & tidy with well cut grass and tended flower beds
Excellent is the only term that came to mind when it came to the toilets. They are modern and clean The toilet facilities showers, outside sinks for washing the dishes and the chemical disposal point
There is a dog walk which is away from the caravans and lake
The nearest pub is around 1 mile away Milk and papers were delivered on site. Shops & Supermarket are in Pocklington around 2 miles.
The nearby attractions include: Golf nearby. York 15 miles (Yorvik Viking Centre. National Railway Museum. York Minster.) The site is on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds and some 30 miles from the coast
Now for the fishing On site is a 6 acre lake which has an excellent, wide variety stock of coarse fish. There are other lakes, canal and river fishing nearby. Day fishing visitors are allowed, making it more a coarse fishery with a convenient caravan site rather than a caravan site with coarse fishing.
My final impressions: A beautiful, peaceful site with views of the lake from all caravan pitches. This site is not particularly busy mid-week,at this time of the year but bookings would be needed for weekends
