Arrived on Easter Sunday to friendly Reception staff. Left £6 returnable deposit for toilet block keys. Pitch was hardstanding gravel with a grass border so it might have been possible to use our small porch awning in retrospect. Stayed a week. Shower block always clean. Useful to have freezer for ice blocks in pot wash area. Lights on a timer so you have to move past sensor if washing up late. There is a sharp bend at entrance to valley so it is easier to approach from the direction of Combe martin. You go past cottages and then statics, and the children's playground before you reach the touring area. We were out every day but it was always peaceful on our return at midnight. On the main road there is a lovely viewpoint with carpark and picnic area overlooking the sea. There are shops in Ilfracombe town centre and a large Tesco supermarket. Barnstaple is easy to get to if you need more shops or hospital. Woolacombe is a lovely beach to visit as is Croyde Bay. Billy Budds in Croyde bay has pub garden with children's area.

Good site well situated to explore the area. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Good sized hard standing pitch, clean toilets etc, and what looked like a good play area for kids (guessing because we don't have kids but it looked fun!). Short walk to the village which has a couple of pubs, petrol station, convenience store and a small cove which the dog loved. 20 minute walk to ilfracombe.
Only a couple of minor grumbles, first we had a hard standing pitch which was made of pebble and was really hard to get the rock pegs into and when you did get the peg in it didn't hold on place very well. Secondly, although not a problem for us as the site was quiet there is a sign in the showers saying if you want a hot shower use them out of peak times, surely if there is a problem with the hot water supply it should be dealt with allowing paying guest to have a hot shower when they want.
Overall, would be happy to return though.

We have just returned home from a lovely 3 night stay at Hele Valley.
The site was very good, We had a large pitch (12 m) which fitted our Vango Eclipse 600 and our car on perfectly.
The gentleman who checked us in was very informative about the local area (i. E. Places to eat, visit and cheapest place to get petrol from!).
Overall, the park was not as big as we had originally imagined, however this didn't really affect our stay as we had plenty of space around us.
For the toilet/shower facilities you need to leave a £6 deposit for the keys (£3 each block), which is refundable upon departure. Having to use keys for
For a family of four can be somewhat inconvenient. The facilities were clean, tidy and fully working (taps on too short a timer).
A nice touch was the freezer next to the pot wash so you are able to freeze ice packs / store ice.
Our two children really enjoyed the play area (to the point where they spent most of the holiday there) especially the zip wire. One drawback and
Minor criticism was the lack of football pitch / ball games area which I feel would add real value to this site.
We went on the nature trail there which was enjoyable for the children. They had fun answering the questions from the information about the
Different insects or just about nature in general.
Camping fees a little pricey all things considered, however, Management very accommodating to our needs.
If we chose to stay in Ilfracombe again, we would stay here again!

Just back from a weekend here, what a lovely peaceful idylic place, don't think we've ever stayed on a campsite that is so clean, the showers were hot and the toilets/shower block and pot wash was spotless. This is a quiet site which suited us, the wildlife was brilliant and the little stream running through was just tranquil.
Never been to Hele or Ilfracombe before but loved it and will definitely be back.
I booked this last minute and the fact you can book online is brilliant.
My only downside if I could possibly find one is the hardstanding for our campervan was stones and this meant you couldn't put up an awning as the grass beside you isn't big enough, I did ask at checkout if they had any grass pitches but was told they don't allow campervans on the grass pitches, just a shame they don't have pitches to accomodate awnings.
But that said we will still return but only for weekends as if we wanted to stay longer we'd need the awning.
We also found it difficult to pick up a mobile signal and was told that only Orange works in this area.

We arrived with our Folding Camper after following our satnav which took as miles down the back lanes, so make sure you go via the main road, it's dead easy to find that way and you don't have to reverse if you meat someone coming the other way.
We reported to reception who gave us everything we needed, a map of the park with our pitch marked out, a map of Ilfracombe with all the main facilities marked out, and our keys for the toilets.
We drove through all the holiday homes wondering what we'd let our selves in for (we don't do holiday home type of sites normally), but we had nothing to worry about, a couple of hundred yards past the reception and we were in the camping field with pitches well marked out and each couple have a lite with a couple of taps and 6 amp electric sockets all built in.
Once we got our camper level and set up we took the long walk uphill to the toilets, it was a long tedious walk as we were right at the bottom of the field but when we return I'll ask for a pitch further up so it isn't a problem. The long walk was well worth it though with immaculate toilet and pot washing facilities. I've never ever seen toilets as clean and nice as these and I've never seen separate cubicles for the washbasins before, a very nice touch. If there was just one small fault it is that the water taps don't really stay on long enough either in the shower of hand wash.
The site is very dog friendly having bins all around the site. And for the kids has what looked like a pretty good play area.
There is a nature walk running from the site but we didn't have time for that as we were only there 3 nights.
Apparently the local beach is only 5 minutes walk away but when we went we took the car as we'd been on our feet all day and didn't fancy the walk. Can't really comment on the beach as the tide was in but it all seamed like a nice area, not your typically over crowded seaside resort.
We found Exmoor Zoo well worth a visit and it's only 20 minutes away and on the edge of Exmoor National Park so a really nice area.
I don't really like busy seaside places but we found Ilfracombe to be the exception, a lovely little town well worth a visit, nice views from the hill and if you can find Maddy's they do some nice fish and chips (I recommend the Plaice).

This is a funny review to write because we aimed to go in a touring caravan but their toilets hadn't finished being refurbished so they offered us a static caravan instead. I reluctantly agreed (yeah, right) and when we got there we were so pleased with our accommodation. The site was near immaculate and even had Greek statues dotted around the park. The sound of the bubbling brook just behind the van added to an already relaxing atmosphere. The touring section we would have had was very good and we would have been almost as happy there.
The staff were very friendly and the location is fantastic. We really loved Hele Bay, a really quaint small fishing village with a few tea rooms and a bar or two.

We have just arrived home after a 2 week stay here with our daughter and friends with their 3 children.
We arrived a little early so took advantage of breakfast at the Farm house at the end of the site where we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who served all 8 of us with a tasty breakfast in the comfort of his home.
We then booked into the site, we originally tried to book 2 ex large pitches in February, but they hadn't 2 available so put us on a group pitch although I was unsure of what the difference was, we did struggle to pitch both our very large tents as one half of one of the pitches wasn't level, we also had only one available electric hook up and we had booked 2 we contacted the reception and they did swiftly supply us with a splitter for it, but it did mean we tripped the electrics a few times during our stay.
Once we were all sorted we had a great time we were on the last 2 pitches at the end of the site, so were not overlooked at all, the campsite seemed strangely quiet for August but I'm certainly not complaining about that!
The toilets were spotless but I do agree a seat would be nice in the shower and also the hairdryer is over the sinks and is awkward if your drying your hair and people are trying to wash their hands after using the toilets, and I am an early riser and like to have a shower first thing and it was extremely gloomy in the toilets some mornings, I actually stood waving my arms around one morning thinking the lights must be on a sensor but alas I was wrong.
We used the Laundrette (after one extremely fun but muddy day Quad biking) and all worked well, I think it was about £5 for a wash and tumble.
Overall the site was perfect for us friendly staff and peace and quiet accept for the sound of a stream and farm animals, perfect!
We had three 17 year olds and one 16 year old with us so they are quite a difficult age to entertain but we tried lots of new things like.
Woolacombe beach; perfect for body boarding and surfing.
Keypitts Adventure; Best day of the holiday spent Quad biking and getting covered in mud, great friendly staff although a little pricey.
Southdown adventure; We did Archery and Rifle shooting good fun.
The ultimate adventure centre; Some of us did the Extreme assault course, we have never laughed so much!
And a personal highlight was a Boat trip around Ilfracombe coast where we saw a rather friendly Dolphin.
Also a trip to the Valley of the rocks near Lynton is well worth a visit,
I must also recommend the Ilfracombe Fryer for fab Fish and Chips.

We had a ten day stay here and would certainly return if we visited the area again.
A significant proportion of the site is devoted to mobile homes/statics but the camping facilities are excellent with all the pitches level or very nearly so; site drainage is very good (we had heavy rain for 36 hours whilst without any problems at all).
The washing facilities, showers and loos were up to a very high standard, always clean with hot water supplies plentiful. Dish-washing facilities likewise.
Two very minor gripes about the facilities: the hand dryers in the loos were not particularly effective and the lighting went off during the day, so when the weather was gloomy it was a little difficult to see.
Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff for the odd question we had. They know the area well and could recommend plenty to do.
Although we didn't try it, the farm at the end of the site offers cooked breakfasts from local produce. 'The Old Mill' in Hele Village offered excellent cream teas (which we did try!).
Supermarket within walking distance (although up a steep path) and there is a convenience store in the village (Hele) which was being run in one of the pubs.
I'd certainly recommend this site.

What a gem of site. Tucked away in a lovely valley and about 15 minutes walk into Ilfracombe.
Facilities were really clean and tidy and the baby room was amazing. I agree a touch of heating would be useful during colder times but we visited during the heat wave so no issue.
Staff were really helpful and friendly and we were soon set up and ready to explore. Children's play area is great
I would highly recommend breakfast at the farm at the end of the site. Really friendly chap and great food.
The walk end from the top of the site is much nicer, but be aware that there is a big hill on the way back! Also recommend the walk up to the top of the walk by the bay. Hard work but worth it on a clear day
Slightly pricey but we would 100% visit again.

This was a lovely peaceful site, tucked away in the valley just outside Ilfracombe. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help. Really my only criticism is the shower block could do with some heating, we were there last week (30th March to 6th April) and I agree it was early to be away in a caravan but there were tents there too, it was extremely cold all week and the wind was bitter cold. Also there was a discrepancy over Reception opening times and laundry times, hope this is now sorted.
The site was close enough for fitter persons than us to walk to Ilfracombe and there were some fantastic views around the area.
