May 2003 New Shower/toilet block not yet open. Key needed for old toilet block, long walk from pitch, shower very antiquated (move fast to avoid jet of cold water). NO dish washing facilities. One water tap, difficult to find! Site position good, sheltered, short walk into Hele Village (good food) and Ilfracombe.

Aug 2002 We arrived on site on a grey Thursday & were able to choose our own pitch which was nice because our two tents had a small field to ourselves. The site layout was good & the owners friendly & receptive to our complaints about a family who were rowdy till 2AM! Unfortunately we got the feeling that campers were the poor relation on this site, the toilet block being very basic (but reasonably clean). Unfortunately the showers, while free, were on a push button timer. Whats wrong with that? you say. But a 5 second timer? who can shower in 5 seconds? Try taking a shower with one hand on the button and 2 small children to wash! Our only other complaint (apart from the lack of hot water to taps during the day) was the washing up area which consisted of a pot sink & the dreaded push button tap. NO DRAINER, Nothing & nowhere to put your pots before or after washing them! All this aside I would stay there again because the pro's outweigh the con's. A little more upgrading for campers & this would be an excellent site instead of just a good one.

June 2002 Quiet and peaceful site set in a valley. Only a few touring pitches, mainly tents. Pitches are level but quite tight to get into. One toilet block, a little primative but always clean and tidy (You are given a key to gain entry to toilets and showers). We did hear people complaining about the lack of hot water, but I must admit I did not have a problem with this. The showers were free, the ones with the button you have to keep pressing, and they were a bit fearce. 5 min walk to the beach (Shingle) and coastal footpaths. We tried the footpath in both directions and the views are superb. You can easily walk into Ilfracombe and Watermouth Cove. Local bus runs very near to site entrance. There is a cafe that also does take away food, and has a small amount of provisions for sale, not exactly a shop. Childrens play area has an excellent zip slide which my son loved. If we come back to this area, we would definately stay here again.
