Camp site is well positioned for the beaches of St Ives and a regular bus service into town picks up from just outside camp.
Campsite was really busy. We were camping in the higher field. Almost sea view, but quite windy. Unluckily as it was busy and we had a lot of rain (all of July's in 24 hours)! Meant the toilets and showers were not always terribly clean. I think they were only cleaned once day which given how busy and weather was probably not enough and my other half said the men's loos frequently missed loo paper.
Useful little shop and there is a bar and take away although we didn't use.
Campsite has a quiet after 11 policy but a very noisy caravan group just on the other hedge (there were 18) disregarded this so had to complain.
All in all to be honest a little disappointing site.

Spacious site layout. Grass well maintained nice design of park.
Although not spacious the showers were very clean as were all the facilities - a mop and bucket would have been handy for those rainy muddy days.
The Hayloft Bar has a cosy warm atmosphere with reasonable prices and friendly staff, we enjoyed a few drinks there.
Owners and staff very helpful and friendly.
Access to the site for a short distance is narrow however on our departure (first day of school holidays) staff offered to check that no vehicles were coming in as we were leaving.
Quite close to St Ives and Penzance there was so much to do we will look forward to a return visit to this site.

Not having visited the area before we were really unsure as to where to stay: we wanted a rural site with a 'dark sky' and views but didn't fancy being stranded in a wet field (even if we could have had a campfire!) We opted for Higher Penderleath and were really glad we did.
Just too far to walk into St Ives but with a really handy bus service from the campsite into town - last bus back in high season is 11. 20pm! Also a pub: we know some camping purists are happy to hike a mile or so for a pint (or just to get in out of the rain) but these are definitely not pedestrian-friendly roads.
Although the bar on Higher Penderleath is a 'campsite bar', it's small and cosy and a great place for a game of dominoes. It really does the job when you just haven't got the energy to go out - or fancy a nightcap after your bbq. Plus the food is good - funnily enough the best scampi I've ever tasted. Showers and toilets fine -
Possibly a little busy at peak times and with only one block the walk from the tents in the top field is a bit of a stretch. Having said that the little shop on site stocks buckets with lids! The site itself is really very attractive with a choice of generous pitches: top field pitches have the best views but the most wind. The ground is well drained short grass.
No gripes at all really except possibly the electricity question: we didn't have hook-up but at £30 per night we felt that a plug or two in the communal areas would be nice. 50p in the ladies for the hair dryer too was a bit steep: on all 3 occasions I used it I didn't use anything like 50p worth.
They offer phone charging but that's £1 and you have to abandon your phone in the office for half a day or so. All in all however, we really enjoyed our stay and the site was obviously much loved and well cared for. We would definitely stay again and recommend it as an ideal spot for exploring the area and visiting St Ives.

WOW. What can I say about this campsite!? Just blew our minds! Lovely owners Chris and Mandy, their son and their staff were just amazing. The facilities were great. It has a coffee shop, a games room, a pub with provides a takeaway service and restaurant food.
The shop they have is well stocked of everything you need. They have a bus service that runs 7 times a day. ( you catch it from the bottom of the campsite) they have a launderette and station to wash your dirty dishes. Toilets and shower blocks are spotless!
Will definitely be going again next year and the year after that and the year after that!

We have just enjoyed over 2 weeks stay here and have had a fantastic relaxing holiday. The owners were very accommodating and friendly - couldn't do enough to make sure you enjoy your stay. The pitches are very spacious (with selection of hook ups and none hook ups), have hedges partitioning areas off to help with wind block and the most beautiful views. The site is kept neat and tidy, with plentiful facilities kept clean.
They are very fair with pricing and are not 'money grabbing' - no adding of additional costs to things that we have found on other campsites - eg. Freezerblocks freezer, showers and use of electricity to charge phones free (£1 fee if guarded in reception). The shop is well stocked with reasonable prices and the owners support the RSPCA with some things they sell.
There is a children's playground and space for children to play in other areas in full view of adults, making this a safe environment to bring children into. This site is suited to all ages and groupings whether couples, multi family groups or small family units. We met people of all nationalities while we were there and found the whole atmosphere to be really friendly and up beat.
Thank you again for a lovely holiday - we certainly recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit St Ives.

All in all this site is fantastic. It's location is ideal for St Ives, being a short car journey away but out of it enough to remain peaceful.
There are several fields to camp in, some have electric hook up, which we chose. There is a 1500w limit on the electric otherwise it trips out but the owners do make you aware of it and we never had a problem staying within this and it appears no one else did either as the electric didn't go off once.
The shower facilities were sufficient for the size of the site and we never had to wait. The hot water was very much on the hot side and could probably do with being turned down a degree or two as it got uncomfortable at times. The toilet/shower blocks are cleaned once daily and I found using the showers straight after this the best time as after an evening and morning of a full site using them, they became quite messy. They could probably do with being cleaned twice daily to maintain standards.
The owners are fantastic and couldn't do more to help. Whilst we didn't use the on site shop, it looked well stocked.
We don't have children so couldn't comment on the facilities for children but the children that were playing around us seemed to be having a fantastic time.
The site itself is down a single track lane which at times took a while to get down with others coming the other way, but with a little patience (from us) we eventually managed to get out. There are however, some large rocks around the grass corners just outside of the site entrance so be careful if you have a large vehicle or caravan as it is a bit tight trying to avoid them when turning. It would probably help if these were removed to provide a bit more space to manoeuvre.
We were very pleased with the site and will definitely go back. The issues I have stated I would consider minor and would urge those considering this site not to be put off as it is a fantastic place.

This was our second year back to Penderleath, we loved it so much the first time we just had to come back. Especially as there is so much to do in the area.
We spent a long time selecting our campsite last year and this one met all our criteria. Location is very important to us, if you want to be out in the sticks without being totally isolated Penderleath is fantastic. You are outside town, so properly out in the 'wilds' but only a short distance from St Ives (a quick drive or even a walk if you are feeling brave!). Easy access to the A30 make it really easy to get about.
The site is really well laid out, everything in easy reach. It is a good size, not so vast you get lost. The separate fields mean you do not feel like you are camping on top of people. As we did not require an electrical hook up, we were able to enjoy the top field with the great views. Up to the old mine ruin across the way and even down to the sea. The lower fields are very pretty too with the hedgerows encouraging the wildlife. There were lots of rabbits about this time!
The amenities are good, loving the size of the shower cubicles! I didn’t bang my elbows once! Everything is clean and well serviced.
There is a children’s play area too, although as we were both over 14 we were not permitted to indulge, as well as a games room.
Penderleath has an on site shop, and a pub too (the pub was not open as we were a bit early in the season). There are pubs nearby too (a short drive) and St Ives is only about three miles away, which has plenty of options available.
The couple that run the site are extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed the relaxed feel to the place. We have had two fantastic weeks staying here, and as we still haven’t seen everything in Cornwall we had planned to, I would not hesitate to go a third time.

First off we were actually in a Folding Camper however in the drop down menu the closest to one of those is a trailer tent.
We eventually found the site having being driving around for over an hour. Apparently the sign had been washed away with the floods, and this simple job of putting it back up they never though of doing before they opened! (but managed it two days after we arrived)
The pub/bar was also closed due to weather damage, where as this isn't a problem as we probably wouldn't have used it, I still think it's a point that should have been mentioned when booking or even mentioned on their website.
The only other complaint I have and a really big one is the state of the toilets, 3 out of 4 working and only one really 'usable' as the others were that filthy for well over 24 hours. There were only two to three units on the whole of the site so how could they be let to get in such a state. Maybe the owners didn't expect them to get like that with such few people but that is besides the point, it is there business and there job to check if they need cleaning.
On the plus side the site is in a lovely area with fantastic countryside and has nicely laid out pitches, and the grass is kept short, even the lady who welcomed us was pleasant and very helpful.
Although on that account I would suggest that she gets a bell fitted that goes through to her phone, the reception and shop were never open and we had to use our mobile phone credit to get in touch if there was anything we needed to ask her.
My overall feeling is that it has the potential to be a lot better site than it is with just a little attention to detail like modernizing the games room, having better coffee and hot chocolate in the drinks machine, having hot water coming out the taps in a morning, even replacing the odd rusty screw in the toilets would have given the feeling that they cared about this site, I'm not saying they don't care but it could be even more apparent and make an average site into a brilliant one.
Despite a lot of negativity in my review, the area was lovely and both the lady and her husband were pleasant and helpful, and I do believe the problem with the toilets not been cleaned was an isolated incident so if asked if I'd go back there then yes, I'd give it one more try.
A word of warning though, as we found out, if your car breaks down it costs an absolute fortune to get into St Ives and back, £9. 50 for a 2. 5 mile journey.

This was our first visit to this site. First impressions of the site when we drove in were OK, when I went to reception to sign in the couple who own the site were there and seemed very friendly, but then she warned me about the electric tripping out if you happen to overload it, I thought OK maybe not a problem. The pitch was a good size and there was a large grassed area around the pitches for the kids to play and to eat outside. The electric did trip out a few times we were there, apparently not our fault but other campers, but the annoying thing is that one overload tripped the whole site, I have never known this on all my years camping. There were only 5 showers in the mens and womens wash rooms, these were very dated and could have done with a serious upgrade they were clean but only just! The pub was above an old converted barn which was dark and again dated with old bric a brac lying around to make it look original, we never ate there but together with the price of the drinks this looked over priced. The children's games room was dark and dirty with a few old game and machines, I don't think my son ever went in there the 2 weeks we were there. The children's play area was muddy and yet again the swings etc were old and tired, and the area was closed at 9pm. One day the showers packed up, they tried to fix it but apparently it was the pump on the boiler and we had to wait over a day for them to get it fixed, we had to use some showers they only use when the site is in low season, but there were only a couple of these. The site was never full unlike all the other sites in the area which were fully booked the whole 2 weeks we were there, so that just shows you the reputation they have. I am not usually so negative about sites we use but this was probably the worst site we have ever used and we will never be going back.
