This is a great site if you like Cornish rural surroundings. Friendly, clean and well maintained grounds. We have just returned from our third visit this year.

The owner is great - nothing is too much trouble, she seems to want to help you have a great holiday.

On site facilities include a shop and a bar serving good food.

The local bus service stops right at the camp gate and will take you right in to the centre of St Ives.

We are looking forward to our next visit soon and would recommend this campsite to everyone.

Beautiful Grass! We had a great couple of days stay at Penderleath, a very warm welcome from the owners and staff. The site is excellent, one of the best we've stayed at, clean and tidy, lovely facilities, all very well maintained. There is a lovely cosy bar on site which does great food and some nice cider! Also brilliant cooked breakfasts! The site is in a good location nice and quiet in the countryside, but only 5-10 mins drive to St Ives (or a short trip on the bus which runs every hour from the site) and great for visiting Penzance and Lands End. We would recommend this site to everyone and will be visiting again soon!

Camping in Cornwall especially at the height of season is not always top of our list but as my mum lives in St Ives we decided to camp as near to town as we could

We managed to book Penderleath and having read the reviews they are very mixed but also a few years old

We also now there are campers and there are people who camp so we hoped the positive comments were from the former

Right from arrival we found this site excellent in what it offered

Our welcome was friendly and the pitch we had was a great size nicely located against a fenced and hedged area giving a nice feeling of relative privacy

There were all the things we needed as campers and more

Loads of water points , a good little shop , good toilet and wash facilities which despite previous reviews are more than adequate and clean for camping - but don't expect gold taps!

Added benefits of the bar and beer garden a play area and a mad little dog called Buster who our kids loved

The bus was great too - cars and St Ives do not mix at the height of season so it was a luxury to not have to worry on that score

What we will remember is that nothing was too much trouble and the site is very personal to Chris and Mandy

Most complaints at sites are caused by people who misuse it ,think that rules are to be ignored

We found the site well managed and quiet after 11

We have been to many sites with far more in the way of facilities but with a clientele that think keeping everyone awake until 3 is fine

So well done Chris and Mandy - we will definitely be back

We managed to book a 4 night stay for our car and two man tent at pretty short notice (2 weeks) considering the time of year. All in all we found the site to be very quiet while we were there. Apart from one night of heavy rain and wind which was a first for us while camping! The shower block was basic but had all that you need really. Including a power point for shavers and hairdryers etc. This was a token meter though and you got about 5mins for 50p so not too bad. We found the showers and toilets to be very clean. The shower cubicles could benefit from some more storage to put your clothes and towels etc while showering but we found if you don't take lots of things with you then its fine.

The site shop stocked all the basics you could want too, such as local papers, tinned foods milk etc. Location was great as it was only about 5minutes drive into St Ives town centre and is one of the closest to the town. Just outside the campsite there is a local bus that runs hourly from the site to St Ives all day. This is only from mid July until Sept (i think) so best to check when booking. It was cheaper to pay bus fares than to park the car all day in St ives (if you could find a space!).

We will definitely use this site again in the future after having a very pleasant experience there.

We found the showers were often cold or didn’t work the toilets were also dirty and on some fields it was portaloos. The toilet and showers were all closed each day between 12noon and 2pm. The bus service into St Ives was £7 return for a family of four.We also feel its 4 miles at least to St Ives from this site and not 2 miles as quoted. Overall we found the site expensive at £33.50 a night no hookup incl a dog

My husband Rod and I stayed at this delightful and peaceful site for 2 weeks this July. Mandy and Chris the owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

From the site there are lots of beautiful beaches to visit and lovely cliff top walks with wonderful views.

The site was not particularly busy during our visit and the weather was a bit wet and windy, but nonetheless we enjoyed our stay, The site setting is very picturesque and the toilet and shower facilities well kept and clean. The shop stocked most necessary items, and the Hayloft Bar was a lovely watering hole and provided tasty meals for a good price.

There was a small adventure playground for young children and lots of space for them to run around. For the older children there is a games room with a pool table and slot machines.

The bus service into St Ives from the camp site is a real bonus as it drops you right in the middle of the village, saving the long haul up the hill and the costs of parking the car £6 per day.

We loved our stay at this small and friendly site and will certainly be going again. If you like beautiful countryside, a peaceful setting not far from the action if you want it, then look no further than Penderleath.

The owners of this site have asked us to point out that they are nothing to do with Lower Penderleath Farm, which is a completely different site.

We recently stayed at Penderleath Caravan and Camping Park at Towednack, St. Ives, Cornwall between 24th July - 2nd August 2008.

We travelled as a group, consisting of a total of 9 people ( 4 x adults, 2 x 13 year olds, 2 x 6 year olds and 1 x 5 year old ).

We were camping on 2 pitches with electric hook-up.

We had a fantastic time at this site, as detailed in the following review:

On arrival, we were met by Chris and Mandy, who, as far as we are concerned, are the most hospitable and friendly campsite owners that we have ever met. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their fellow owners / staff. They made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived, throughout our stay, and made us feel sorry to have to leave.

Reception:

Extremely welcoming, informative and very well organised.

Showers and Toilets:

Spotlessly clean, very reliable and maintained and cleaned daily to a very high standard.

Washing-up room and launderette.

Again, spotless, reliable and very convenient.

Site Shop:

Very well stocked with just about all the groceries and accessories you will ever need on a camping or a caravan touring holiday. The prices were very competitive, which made a pleasant change, compared to high prices that we have experienced at other sites.

The Hayloft ( the Pub):

A wonderful watering-hole, housed in a beautiful stone building, with a lovely relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, made even better by the friendly hospitality of the owners and all the staff. Outside is a very well placed beer-garden and sheltered seating areas, along with a with games room for the children. Our children really enjoyed all of this.

Pitches:

Very well maintained in fenced segregated areas of the site, most having electric hook-ups.

Summary:

We would recommend this site all campers and Caravanners, who are looking for high standards of facilities, location near to St. Ives, and the friendliest people you are ever likely to meet at a campsite. The level of service is second-to-none.

Even the site dog “Buster”, possibly the most people-friendly dog around always gave a happy welcome. He was also responsible for pitch mowing duties, as he positioned himself at the front of the ride-on mower, happily being chauffeured around while inspecting Chris’s mowing .

We hope to be back at Penderleath at the end of August 2008, and for many years to come.

Try it , you will enjoy it here!

We travelled all the way from Yorkshire again to stay on this beautiful site.

There have been improvements made to the Gents this year, extra showers and better decor.

There was a minor problem with the shower pump while we were there but Chris spent hours upon hours trying to correct the problem, which he did, the main problem is getting a cornish tradesman to give a definate date and time to turn up and do a job .Hey , if I lived down there, I would be so laid back I would be Horizontal.

Great hosts, fantastic site.

We spent 3 nights on this site, all in all it was ok but a little on the expensive side, toilet/showers dirty, hand dryers not working and we did feel that the list of rules given on our arrival and posted throughout the camp were a tad exessive.
But it did have a nice little pub which served reasonable priced food and drink. And it was very quiet.
During our stay we were able to visit Lands End, Penzance and Newquay so the campsite was ideally located for touring.
