May Bank Holiday Stay, 4 nights.
We had been looking forward to this visit for some months as our first proper outing of the year. We were not disappointed. We wanted a riverside campsite, ideally for swimming and canoeing. This delivered perfectly on those ideals. There is even a rope swing over the river.
The pitch was flat and level and the toilet block wasn't far to walk either. It was regularly cleaned and we had no issues with it or the showers.
The village is only a short walk, don't be put off by the 'hill' we drove in on the first night after it being described as such but were ashamed of ourselves. Its an easy walk with plenty of shops.
We were a group of 3 (1 large tent and 2 tourers) with adults and one teenager, the proximity to the river was why we chose this site, I imagine with a few toddlers it may not be ideal, but it was exactly what we were looking for.
The owners/managers were lovely, I don't think I saw the chap on his bike stop smiling once the whole time we were there.
We'll definitely go back as riverside gems like this are rare.

Chose this site because we wanted to explore Bungay with our Friends and it's location meant we could easily walk into the town. It was also next to Outney common which had some lovely walks.
This is a lovely friendly site and nothing is too much trouble. We were shown to our spacious pitch and had our friends in their motorhome next to us.
The toilet and shower block, as previously stated, is small and dated but had been recently painted and was always clean. I do think this would get very busy in high season.
The fee of £18 including electric is fair but only because of the position of the site.
We had 2 lovely meals in The fleece but you need to book for a Saturday night. Bungay is a very interesting town and even has it's own theatre.
We will probably stay here again.

Stayed Sat - Tues at start of Oct half term £14 night, £4 ehu (which we think is a bit steep). Lovely site but bit too muddy at this time of year, we were put on field that was quite shadey and didn't get the daytime sun, which probably didn't help the ground to dry.
Only one toilet/shower block that only had 2 showers in ladies, this would of been totally inadequate in the summer as it looked like there were a lot of tent pitches.
Short walk into Bungay passing The Green Dragon pub which brews it's own beer, can recommend The Suffolk Stonehouse restaurant near the church in town where we had a meal on the Saturday night.
We had a good 7 mile run around the common and into the woods plus into Earsham, we also put our inflatable kayak onto the river for a good couple of hours on the Sunday as it was a lovely day, access is direct from the site. The area is lovely and the common is great for walking. There is a golf course next door.
The warden was a very nice helpful guy who made time to chat about the area.
The 'A' road just outside the site and the nearby 'Clays' factory do mean that there is a lot of background noise but in a caravan this wasn't an issue.
For location, acccess to town and ease of outside persuits I think this site is great and would return again.

A lovely site that over the years has maintained its high standard. Pitches are divided into fields with high hedges so looks smaller than it is. Only one toilet/ shower block but saying that we did not have to wait. Canoe hire available on site and is a nice trip, duration of hire variable. Small shop on site but mainly sells gas and spare parts although ice cream available. Bungay is a 10 minute walk and offers shops, banks and nice pubs. A lovely site just to sit back and relax or use as a base for touring the surrounding area.

What a lovely site! Don't be put off by the scruffy caravans seen from the roundabout at the entrance - who wants to camp on a busy roundabout? The 3 fields behind are flat, grassy and well kept. We were in the field without children, but the children in the other 2 fields seemed to be having a lovely time without disturbing us. Colin and Mary-Jane met us and sorted out our gas even though we'd arrived after reception had officially closed. Mary-Jane cycled in front to show us to our pitch. We had opted to try without electric hook up (first trip out in our new-to-us van conversion), but were able to hook up for the last day after our leisure batteries ran out. There are 2 toilet blocks, one with a family shower room (open shower once locked in) in one of the ladies. Clean and basic showers, recycling facilities at the bins and a raised grey water drain, so some way of transporting grey waste is necessary. The shop on site is limited, but Bungay has lots of small independent shops and a lovely Real Ale Pub called the Green Dragon, which has a popular beer garden. Lots of places for walking - Outney Common is next to the site - and we saw people hiring bikes and canoes. All in all a very pleasant 3 night stay.

We used this site as a base for 3 nights to visit relatives in Suffolk and Norfolk.
Well divided areas that make the site feel small and cozy. Grass pitches on level well drained ground. We were the only campers in our section.
Plenty of older campers in motor homes having a good time.
Toilet block was found to be clean, tidy and stocked. Use of shower is free with preset temperature and push button.
The site is next to the river and very peaceful. The site entrance is surround by disused caravans and does not do the site justice.
Bungay is a short walk and is a lovely place to visit. Nice artisan pizza in the main street.
Road noise was evident at times in our tent.

Had a quiet mid-week break with hookup. Well divided areas that make the site feel small and cozy. Grass pitches on level well drained ground but sub soil is stoney would advise heavy duty pegs. Reception doubles as a little shop and staff were always polite and friendly. Toilet block was always found to be clean, tidy and stocked. Use of shower is free with preset temperature and push button.
The site offers canoeing on the local river and a round trip can be completed in about 3 hours, ideal for taking a picnic with you. The site entrance is surround by disused caravans and does not do the site justice.
Bungay is a short walk and is a lovely place to visit. The site provides an ideal place for touring Suffolk and Norfolk.

Stayed for 5 nights. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and were offered several options of where to site our camper. The site itself is well kept and nice open spaces, however the toilet block is in serious need of updating. I went for a shower in one of the ladies blocks and it involved turning on the sink tap first and then jumping in the shower. The water ran out in seconds and I was going between the two. Turning taps on and off. Not good. In the other ladies shower block you have to keep your hand pushed onto the water tap so washing your hair is interesting! You also pay 20p for hot water to wash up with.
The site is very well situated near to a local common and great for dog walks. My husband was able to fish on the river running alongside the site.
If the site was to upgrade the toilet blocks I would have no hesitation in going back. Won't until this happens.

I cant believe that there isnt a recent review on this campsite. It did put me off a bit but then thought, oh well its only a 2 1/2 hr journey if I don't like it. The reception area is a bit like a caravan graveyard, but it is a big spacious area and is kept tidy. There are a lot of things going on like boat hire, bike hire and gas supply. Reception was friendly and was led by owner on pushbike who also helped me unhitch and position folding camper as 'woman camping on own' Plots are well spaced with quite a few areas divided by hedges and trees. Facilities are clean and adequate. Could do with another shower or two. This didn't matter at beginning of week but towards end as it go busier, there were queues. It is on a busy main road which is noisy but it is just so accessible. Right next to a lovely common, brilliant for walking dogs, also golf course and of course river. Bungay is lovely, with some brillian real ale pubs, including Green Dragon, which brews own ale. Good eating places as well, and Bigod's castle.
Downside, of which only one, travellers on site. Very noisy and nosy but luckily only there for 2 of the days that I was there and then moved on.
Apart from that would definitely go back

Just back from a 4 night stay at Outney meadow caravan park. At first it seemed a well laid out site with gravel roads to all areas with hedgrows and small trees. Bungay is a short walk to find all the usual shops.
Most pitch areas had access to EHU and 1 water tap at the end of the field. You will need a water filter jug at this site as the water leaves a thick scum in your cup. This site pack you in so tight, we felt quite claustrophobic. No 6m fire rule here more like 6' or less.
The toilets are too few with only 4 toilets, 4 urinals and 3 showers split into two blocks in the mens and about the same in the ladies. Plenty of loo rolls with soap always in the 3 sinks, hot water was never a problem but with so few outlets that's no suprise.
The rubbish collection area is slap bang in the middle of the site including the waste/soil water disposal area, by the 4th day all the bins were full so everyone just dropped their rubbish bags in front of them.
As far as places for the kids to play, by the time they fill the place with tents and caravans the only place they have is in and around their tents or the river. Because you were packed in like sardines the noise levels were amplified and at night some people were playing loud music well into the next day, but the owners did put a stop to it after the 3rd night.
This site is also quite close to a busy main road. The site is listed as having 45 pitches but it felt like a lot more.
