Don't be put off by the entrance area of the site, derelict caravans etc. As soon as you are on site you get a very warm welcome from the proprietor. The site is very well laid out, with plenty of trees and hedges acting as wind breaks. Lovely fishing and boating. Beautiful common, for walking, dogs, exploring etc.close to shops, restaurants, easy walking distance. The pitches are a generous size and the toilets, showers are ok. Good time had by all.[ even the dogs]

As said by many others being greeted with several old caravans is a little on the grim side, but once past these it opens up into a very level and well maintained site. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady. Its a very short walk into Bungay but don't expect too much as its only a little place but quite pleasant.

Positives -
Excellent location for 'river' type activities and surrounding area for siteseeing
An easy walk into Bungay, a very pleasant town with variety of shops, pubs etc
Very friendly welcome
The field we camped in was flat, lined with mature trees and mature hedges.
A picnic table for each pitch was a nice touch.
Downsides -
As mentioned by many, the 'caravan graveyard' entrance which is slightly nerve jangling.
The toilet and shower block were pretty grim. Lacking in units for the size of site, and very tired, unclean in appearance. To the point I had 'babywipe baths' during our weekend visit, and a joyous shower on the return home.
Lack of attention to detail - no lighting to mark out the (longish and dark) walk to the loos, sticky mud under the drinking water tap in our field, with no gravel or paving.
So in essence, great if location is your thing, and the other things don't phase you. It has potential to be a super site with not much effort.

Pleasant basic campsite. Beautiful countryside and river frontage. We took advantage of the canoe hire (£20 half day) and had a lovely trip.
Very friendly welcome and the people who run the site are lovely and frequently seen as they cycle around the site.
Pitch booking is slightly haphazard, as they are not marked out. Nice and level, with some shade from hedges etc. Plenty of cold taps dotted around. Caravans / Campers / tents on mixed fields, some fields with just caravans too.
Facilities let the site down as there are only 2 toilet blocks. The central one seemed to be used by most campers and was quite a hike from some pitches. This often had queues for showers. We used the 'Additional Toilets' clearly signposted from the main block but usually very quiet which is fortunate as these are badly designed as the hand wash basins were in with the shower - so if you went to the loo while someone was showering you couldn't wash your hands. Mens toilets were smelly. Usual problem with few places to put clothes down in the showers without them hitting the muddy floor. Very dated though fairly clean.
Just two washing up sinks - and take your 20p's for hot water etc
No children's play area though all the older children enjoyed the rope swing over the river and swimming in the river.
Campsite is just off a busy road, and the traffic noise coupled with the noise of printing works close by was 24hrs a day. Not the campsites fault, but hardly peaceful.
Easy walk into Bungay (once you get over the busy road) which is a lovely little town.
Highlight for us was the tranquil canoe trip. Lowlight was sitting down and putting my hand in a dog poo near the river! Dog mess around the lake next to the camp too (not on the site so not the sites fault).
Friendly basic site in a lovely setting - if a little noisy.

To reiterate what others have said, the entrance to the site is a shabby graveyard of old caravans. However, once beyond this, the site is well laid out, well maintained and has a very pleasant area where canoes can be hired on the river and there is a rope swing hanging over the water for the kids to enjoy. There is also bicycle hire there too. Didn't use the facilities as we used our own, but from a quick glance they looked fine.
It would appear that larger units are placed in the first field which does have a row of stored caravans up one end. But again, the field is backed by a hedge and is level and well cut.
The owners/wardens were very pleasant and helpful and allowed us to stay for the whole of the weekend instead of having to leave by midday on Sunday as is the case with some sites, thereby shortening a weekend stay.
There is a nice dog walk adjacent to the site around the fishing lake and across the fields and it is also walkable into the town of Bungay, which is approached from across the road to the site. I would recommend the Thai Kitchen restaurant in town.

On arrival at Outney Meadow park we were a little woried-one is faced with several tatty, old, unused caravans and what apears to be a small scrap yard! Having said that the very pleasant lady who greated us on arrival lead us to an equally pleasant, large grassed field which was divided into smaller sections by conifer hedginng and silver birch trees. These offer both wind break and dappled shade plus a bit of privacy. The river bank area is very attractive and the boat hire is popular but causes no disturbance to others. The children in our party spent hours playing on the swing rope and dropping into the water-it was great to see them getting pleasure from free out-of-doors entertainment. The showers and toilets were perfectly adequate and cleaned reglarly-shame people will go in with dirty shoes on and spoil it! Mary, the lady who greated us on arrival, proved to be a mine of local information and was an excellent hostess. There seemed to be a mixed bunch on the campsite- all pleasant and none unaceptably noisy, though having lots of trees= lots of bird= very loud morning chorus! Bungay is an endearing little town with many interesting shops, lots of pubs and a refurbished hotel restaurant 'The Castle Inn'-great hospitality and reasonably priced good quality food. We were not blessed with the best weather and unfortunately and completely unplanned) we went in 'closed season' so the boys could not fish. We will definitely return with fishing rods and our dogs in the very near future.

I wanted to like this site, but eventually left early. Problems were;
Tatty; entrance way was like driving into a scrapyard, and facilities generally matched this impression. Shower blocks we small and very basic, overloaded and therefore not clean.
Tiny pitches; I was advised to park my car as close in front of my tent as possible because they'd be getting busier and needed to fit everyone in. Real shoulder-to-shoulder camping with only the next families tent or van to look at about 5 yards from your entrance. No room to kick a ball let alone let the kids experience camping. Can't remember the pitches being marked in any way, but it was a bit like camping in a car park.
Noisy; road noise quite evident and a factory of some kind within a couple of hundred yards. Not deafening, but not peaceful either.
Walls of conifers marking out each acre field, 20ft high made the site feel even smaller, and no views to speak of because of this.
In the off season, when there's fewer campers it might be OK, but I've learned to look for 'perimeter only camping' advertised sites after this one.
Bungay itself had a few interesting points, and the small town trail was of interest. Pubs nice (esp the Green Dragon, serving their own brewed beer), and the owners were far from unfriendly - but they need to set a realistic and acceptable limit on the number of pitches they rent out, and tidy the place up a bit. Chop down the walls of conifers so campers can see the Waveny meadows and get rid of the trash heap that greets visitors.

The entrance to this site is poor. However, the site is tidy, in a good position for the town and close to the river. We visited when the weather was snow, wind, rain and anything that mother nature could throw down, but it was still OK.
The reception from the owners was excellent, no complaints there, the toilets were clean and tidy, the showers hot and free of charge, noise was not a problem, the size of the pitches was fine. Generaly this site is OK, but Im sure if the sun was out when we visited it would have been more than OK.

Just spent a lovely weekend on this site. The pitches were spacious and safe enough for the kids to run riot. Plenty of good fishing on the lovely riverside ( hire a canoe and fish off that, just outside the regular swim area). Took my own canoe and the trip down the river, either way, is worth it. The kids enjoyed the freedom the site offers and even though it was raining the rope swing over the river took a good bashing. The toilet facilities were clean and tidy and despite what the other reviews say, I did not have to wait and as I was in a caravan I was unaware of the charge for the washing up water. The site owner was more then helpful. Yes there was a bit of background road noise but it soon becomes just that! There is a small shop stocking camping bits and there are nearby stores for your food shopping. All in all a lovely weekend and definitely worth a repeat trip.

We decided to go away over Christmas for three days and we telephoned Outney Meadow caravan park in Suffolk. The site owner Collin told us that they were closed for the season but said that he was willing to let us stay for Christmas Break!
What more can you say first class we had all of the site to ourselves. The owner said that we could use the shower block and toilets etc. The site is clean, well looked after and kept nice. For only 12 pounds and 50 pence per night all inclusive of electric.
