Lovely site - especially if you have children and a tent. However, the site does not seem as interested in its customers without children using the site during the week. The café and shop were only opened fully at the weekend to cater for all the families arriving. It made us feel a bit like second-class citizens! We spoke to other caravanners who felt the same way. I can understand the facilities not being open so much in the low season but not the middle of June.

The showers were good but I counted six seconds before the water ran out and I had to push the button again!

The co-op nearby is quite small and not great for choice. It is more like a fancy deli/farm shop and quite expensive. I couldn't even get semi-skimmed milk there one day.

The dog walk field is a meadow and totally unsuitable for exercising your dog off the lead. The grass has been allowed to grow so high that you would lose your dog in it and I would be extremely worried about grass seeds getting in my dogs' ears and paws.

Our pitch was fully serviced with a gravel hardstanding but it was not very big and the caravan and awning filled it leaving a narrow, scrubby, grass area alongside which was not really very nice for sitting out.

Lastly, the free wifi at the café/shop; we have a wifi booster and should have been able to pick up the wifi without any problem. However, the signal was weak and very slow. When all the families arrived at the weekend everyone was obviously using their phones and their tablets all evening as we could not get any wifi at all then.

Most people need wifi these days (as shown by everyone glued to their devices all evening outside the café) especially as the mobile phone signal and the TV reception were both quite poor at the site. While I accept that the TV and mobile phone reception is out of the control of the site owners due to its rural location, I feel that this issue could be a major drawback for many caravanners and should be highlighted to anyone before they consider booking this site.

This is one of the best caravan sites I've visited. It's obvious there's a lot of development work going on here and it's equally obvious a lot of time effort and love is going into how well it's been thought out.

Facilities are first class and immaculately clean. The hard standing pitch was superb. It was level, on a not very level field. It was serviced with everything you could need and peaceful, albeit relatively early in the year.

This area of Suffolk has a lot going for it. Southwold a few miles to the north. Aldeborough to the south, along with Snape Maltings where we left quite a lot of money.

Would I visit Haw Wood again? Yep. No question in my mind. This is a definite jewel.

This was the first time we had visited this site, first impressions very good, lovely friendly greeting and personally shown to our pitch by the manageress, we had not made a group booking but knew other families through other friends.

The toilet and shower block very nice, modern, clean and heated

The electric kept tripping at peak times (morning and evenings) which become a bit of a pain, phoned to speak to someone on Sunday afternoon to ask for some help, but could only leave a recorded message - NO ONE followed up our message or replied

we weren't the only ones having problems with the electric tripping

On the Friday evening it was fish n chips, as it worked out there was 11 children and 12 adults, we asked about ordering as the kitchen could only deal with 6 meals at a time, the male manager wasn't too happy about us placing an order of this size and loudly commented that maybe we should go to the local chippy which came across as very rude - I would say if your considering the fish n chips then don't bother as poor value for money, frozen chips and frozen processed cod portion, (similar to 'youngs' that you could buy in Tesco for a pack of 4 for approx £3. 50!) being sold for the price of £5. 95

I don't consider anyone we knew over this weekend to of made any type of antisocial noise, we ourselves were in bed by 9. 00pm on the Thursday and Friday night, 10pm on the Saturday and Sunday evening and didn't hear anything

However, when setting up our BBQ and gazebo on the Saturday evening, the male manager came over with some bricks to lift up the fire pit, which initially came across as helpful, he then proceeded to tell us that if he had any complaints about noise after 10pm then there is no way he could let us come back another time

It was directed at us and not anyone who had been having a late drink with friends on other evenings - the zero tolerance on socialising after 10pm is very over the top, in my opinion very unreasonable and not necessary

If you are looking for a site where you can relax after the kids have gone to bed with a bottle of wine and to enjoy the company of friends then this is not the campsite for you.

We are members of caravan and camping club and caravan and motor home club, we have enjoyed camping over the last 9 years with either a tent or caravan - never once have we encountered such strict petty rules and rudeness concerning siting in a caravan awning and having a drink with friends

Antisocial behaviour is not something with which we condone or participate

We have had a pleasant Easter weekend with some old friends and now new friends but Haw wood farm thank you but no thank you we will not be returning

Lovely relaxed atmosphere on this site, shower facilities excellent. Nice to sit on the patio area during the day or evening, and enjoy a glass of wine, coffee, pastry or breakfast purchased from the cafe/ shop. Parents could also relax here and keep an eye on their children in the playpark, which was also first class.

There was minimum noise in late evening, lots of families near us, no problem at all.

The surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful, we often went for a stroll in the evening. There was so much to see and do, we only travelled 15 miles in a week, which is unusual for us! RSPB Minsmere is beautiful, and plenty more nature reserves. Found a lovely quiet and beautiful beach, and enjoyed exploring the beautiful villages and the pretty town of Aldburgh. Fantastic fish and chip restaurant at Dunwich.

We shall be returning!

Our second visit here and after booking last minute staff could not have been more helpful. Great welcome and facilities even better than last year. New super pitches and Elsan point. Our dog loved his run in the huge dog field and was fascinated by the unusual ducks on the pond that we could see from our window. Even though fully booked over the weekend it wasn't crowded or noisy. Had fish and chips from their cafe and the shop had all you'd need.

Stayed for 1 night with my 9 year old granddaughter and both of us are looking forward to going back.

We were welcomed at the gate by Dan, no fiddly booking in, he had a clipboard and knew who we were and which pitch we were on. Dan told us what we needed to know and within 2 minutes Phoebe was on the playground and within 5 I was pitching the tent.

I like sites with clearly marked pitches, so you know which space is yours, and that's how it is at Haw Wood. I'd booked a pitch with EHU and we had an enormous amount of space for our small tent. I'd booked the end of the row and would choose that pitch again.

The online booking is excellent with aerial views, a map of the pitches and the opportunity to choose your pitch. I particularly appreciated being able to book a single night on a weekend.

The shower rooms are extremely spacious but unfortunately the water pools by the area for changing so you are constantly standing in water. The only negative in what are otherwise superb facilities.

There was a lovely, family feeling to the site which felt very safe.

We went to Aldeburgh and Dunwich and had a lovely walk along the quiet lane that the site is on. Although there are no footpaths there is very little traffic.

For anyone wanting to explore the lovely Suffolk countryside I would highly recommend Haw Wood. It is only an hours drive for us and we will return at every opportunity.

We chose Haw Wood Farm for our first family camping trip - my husband and I have camped a little before having kids, but decided it was time to try it out with our 2. 5, 4 and 5 year olds.

I am so glad that we chose this site for our young family! Georgina and Dan who own and run the site are lovely and very helpful. We saw them both working on site every day, and they involve their own kids too. There are other helpful and friendly staff too. The atmosphere of the site was very family friendly and relaxed.

The facilities are amazing! Better than a number of hotels I've stayed in! They have very large showers, the toilet blocks being warm and welcoming. They also have family rooms - one room with a shower, toilet, hand basin and baby changing station so that you can all go in together, or sort out more than one child at the same time - having three young children this was fantastic.

The main building, which has the toilet and shower facilities is located next to the park, and in the centre of the building is the Reception and Café / Shop, and washing up / clothes washing facilities. They served pastries, breakfasts, fresh coffee and even fish and chips (inc. Kids option) whilst we were there. The shop stocked food basics and also camping basics that you may have forgotten or needed extra - I was really impression with how well thought out their stock was. It also had some little pocket money things and beach balls / nets.

I used the clothes washing facilities which were great, and the washing up facilities were lovely being inside.

The park is fantastic - suitable for all ages - with different apparatus so enough for all the kids on site - it was always busy! All our children were able to play happily, and so were the older ones - sometimes 'suitable for all' isn't in reality but I was pleased that this actually was a well thought out park.

The site is quiet at night after 10pm, and is really dark, so torches are essential but great for star lovers!

Everything on site was environmentally friendly which was fab. They had a newly finished waste disposal point too, which was amazing - being the first time we'd used a Porta Potti I was grateful for such well thought out facilities.

We had a serviced pitch, which was lovely and big (9m x 20m pitch sizes), and level, and all in all the site was well looked after. We stayed in the lower small fields, and although it was a little walk to the toilets, we were glad of being away from the park as it was quite noisy in the evening with the older kids whilst we were trying to get our younger ones to sleep but it wasn't rowdy at all. There was no evening entertainment so if you like a quieter site then this is ideal.

At the main road close to the site there is a Co op which has amazing local produce for sale, and is convenient to pop out for bits opening 7am-7pm. There is a Tesco and Waitrose in nearby Saxmundham and in Lowestoft there is a huge Asda.

We visited Africa Alive which is well worth a trip (thank you Clubcard Vouchers!), Southwold Pier which has some really interesting features, and a few nearby towns.

I am certain we will return, the only off putting thing for us is having to pay in full when you book but I can see from the campsites point of view why that is necessary. The online booking is very easy to use and Georgina and Dan via email and phone helped us know what to book when we got stuck (due to it being our first ever trip).

You won't be disappointed at Haw Wood!

What an amazing campsite! Very generous pitches, superb facilities block and friendly staff!

We arrived on Saturday when the weather was dry and sunny. Dan took us to the pitch we had selected when we booked and told us the ground was fairly wet (thanks to Storm Katie who visited the previous week) and advised us to park in the gateway on the tarmac. We could have changed pitch but we said we would be fine. We pitched our folding camper and relaxed for the rest of the evening. There was a lot of rain Saturday night. When we got up in the morning, we found our breathable groundsheet in the awning was drowning! We hopped in the car to go and buy a non-breathable tarpaulin to cover it. Then we remembered what Dan had said about parking in the gateway. Dan arrived 10 minutes later with the tractor to pull the car out! He didn’t even say ‘I told you so!’ When the awning was sorted out we relaxed again.

The site has some fabulous showers – very big and with plenty of space for your belongings where they didn’t get wet.

The shop sells scrummy cake (and I believe there were a few other items in there too!).

We visited Lowestoft, Southwold, Dunwich and Felixstowe. Haw Wood Farm is a great base for all the villages and towns.

The dark skies are DARK! Bring your telescope if you have one or binoculars.

They are in the middle of building some fully serviced hard standings which look good.

The children’s playground looked (and sounded) like a lot of fun – zip wires, swings etc. Something for all ages.

All in all, we would certainly return to Haw Wood Farm again (maybe on a hard standing or at least with a better groundsheet!).

We visited this site Friday 9 through to Sunday 11th October to meet up with friends. It turns out the site runs an astronomy weekend use to its dark sky status and one of the weekends was this one! Actually turned out to be a really interesting bonus.

The site was clean, tidy, quiet and with great facilities. Hot and modern shower block with family rooms available, cafe, ample water points. There is a good size new looking playground for the children, dog walking field and laundry/wash room.

It is well located to access Southwold and surrounding villages. We missed the turning in the dark but now we know where the site is will definitely comeback.

We arrived in pouring rain and the first pitch we were allocated was very wet and boggy. We asked to move which the owner who was there said was not a problem. However we couldn't get out but he quickly managed to get us to our new pitch with his tractor.

They have excellent new facilities with a shop which is open at the weekend which was during our stay. They serve lovely coffees and snacks.

There is free wi if which can be accessed in and around the cafe and facilities. There are picnic tables outside on a large patio area near the shop too.

They have good laundry facilities and washing up area all next to the shop and reception.

We loved all the local information in the loos!
