Spent 4 nights here as weather forecast was good and what a find. This is a really well run site, friendly staff and superb new facilities, huge showers, ample toilets, free hairdrier, good little shop and cafe. The site is flat with few trees and new hedges but the pitches are huge so you feel really private. The grass is quite level but the ground was very soft so we definitely needed our supply of wood for jockey wheel and even steps. There was a really good play area by the cafe which was well used. Unusual ducks on a pond, picnic area and dog walking field made up the site. Free wifi near the shop was good too. This is a dark sky site and we saw thousands each night. Easy to find and good access are all combined to make this a cracker of a site.
If I were to wish for improvements would be mowing more of the dog field so ball throwing could be enjoyed as it was just paths through a wild flower meadow that I was reluctant to let my dog loose in due to the danger of ticks. Also a shelf/wire holder in the showers for shampoo etc.
Altogether a really great site that can only get better as it matures and features are added. We will certainly be back.

Haw Wood Farm is a super site, completely transformed. The facilities are really good, we especially loved the family bathrooms. The owners were very friendly and helpful, lending our friends a tent, as they had misplaced their poles. We will definitely be going back taking our granddaughter, as the playground looks lots of fun. The location is super for visiting the beautiful Suffolk coast and countryside. Well done Haw Wood Farm.

Firstly let me reiterate Robepipe's point that reviews before November 2014 should now be ignored. It cannot be overstated that Dan and Georgina (a delightful couple, and the new managers) have made a massive difference to this site and its management.
Haw Wood Farm is situated on a sleepy rural Suffolk lane, surrounded by arable farmland with abundant mature and treed hedgerows. It is easily accessed, as the A12 is less than a kilometre away, but this doesn't affect the wonderful peace and quiet of this idyllic site.
The facilities are absolutely outstanding, as others have commented, certainly good hotel quality, with extras such as underfloor heating, and even fresh flowers in the airy and well-lit washrooms. The amenities are maintained and cleaned to a superb standard - the best I've encountered.
An extremely well-equipped laundry and dishwashing facility is sited in the same building, adjacent to the very pleasant shop/reception. A small range of essentials is stocked here (there is also an excellent and very well stocked Co-op/café, the Darsham Hamper, minutes away at the end of the lane).
The site is close to the coast, with beaches at Southwold and Dunwich, although, if you want a serious beach day with the kids, it's well worth driving up the A12 to Lowestoft. Its beaches are huge, safe and sandy.
For me, though, the attractions nearer to Haw Wood are what bring me back year after year. Several National Nature Reserves are in close proximity, not to mention the RSPB flagship reserve at Minsmere. Walberswick NNR is just at the end of the lane, with Dunwich Heath, Dunwich Forest, and Westleton Walks only a mile or so further.
If you're a birder, this is the place to be, I've seen Dartford Warbler, Bittern and Hobby within 15 minutes of Haw Wood and Marsh Harrier and Stone Curlew from the lane, and the site itself has resident Barn Owls - well, you'd kind of expect that at Haw Wood.
Moving back to the site itself, the pitches are level, and generous, and most have hook-ups, even some in the furthest field adjacent to the large dog walking meadow.
For children there's a superb, safe, and robustly constructed play area near to the main building, so parents can sit in the sun with a fresh coffee, and surf the Web using the free Wi-Fi whilst keeping a beady eye on the kids.
If you prefer to watch ducks, another very pleasant place to relax is the leafy picnic area by the attractive duck pond over towards the farmhouse.
The site is run with a healthy green and wildlife-friendly ethic and much work has been carried out to support this - many trees have been planted - no doubt in future as these develop the site will become even more attractive.
All in all a wonderful site which I can't wait to return to.
Highly recommended, and well done Dan and Georgina. Keep up the good work.

This was a good find. The park was enjoyed by our 9 and 10 year old so it was not just for little ones, which was great. The showers were nice and clean. The cafe was due to open there. The owners were helpful. The shop was small but had your basics. The washing up area was clean and tidy.

We have stayed at a lot of campsites in our time and this was one of the best. The facilities here are simply fantastic - underfloor heating, spotlessly clean, large showers, constant running hot water, we are talking hotel quality here. On top of this there are washing machines and tumble dryers so if you do get caught out in the rain you can come back and wash and dry your clothes and take a hot shower and really sort yourself out. Dan and Georgina, the lovely couple running the site, are really helpful and friendly. The pitches are nearly all flat and level and are very generous in size, you are most definitely not on top of your neighbours here so you can really spread out comfortably. You are allowed bbqs and fires as long as everything is raised off the ground to save the grass from scorching. They do have several fire pits they can lend you and they sell logs and kindling. There is a small shop on site which is only open for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the late afternoon. For us Londoners used to everything being open 24hours this was a bit of a pain but its no biggie really. There is a large cooperative type shop at the top of the lane which is actually very reasonably priced and has a cafe with proper coffee which is open 7am-7pm. Nearest tesco and waitrose is about 15mins drive. The site is about to open its own cafe next to the washroom which will be great (open sept 2015). We are definitely going back!

One of the best sites we have stayed on with our tent. Thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and we are looking forward to returning next season as caravanners!
The site is past Saxmundham near Darsham just off A12. The site has amazing facilities. The toilet/washing block are most definitely award winning - very clean, well maintained and spacious, as well as being warm after a shower or in the middle of the night! Although the site was fully booked at times, there weren't any queues for the toilets or showers at key times. Showers cubicles are big enough for an adult and child if need be, and for those with young families, there are two separate family rooms with toilet, changing table, wash basin and shower.
The cafe looks good and due to open at the end of August. It's opposite the play area so perfect for parents. Free Wifi available at the front of the toilet/cafe block and patio seating area. Our kids loved the play area - all new and caters for all ages. There is a dog walking field and a flowering meadow. Although there are a number of static, seasonal and touring fields, you don't notice it as it is spaced out and each field has hedges round it.
As stated by others, the pitches are bigger than usual, well maintained and flat. Loved the feeling that you were not 'on top of each other'. Good mixture of tents and caravans during our stay. We stayed in the middle meadow and had room for our 6 berth tent, 2 cars and lots of room at the front. Ideal for first time caravanners too as lots of room to reverse your van in without hitting anyone else.
The on site shop has limited opening times (8-10am / 4-6pm), but not an issue. They stock the basics and you can pre-order bbq and breakfast food! The Coop at the end of the road is lovely, but pricey - good if you want to sample local products. Halesworth has a large Coop and petrol station (10 mins).
The owners have clearly put a lot of thouught and effort into this site - they were friendly, helpful and a nice touch was coming round on Saturday night discreetly selling ice creams on their bike!
Definitely recommend crabbing at Walberswick (10 mins drive) and the beach. £3 car parking all day with a hut selling crabbing essentials and ice creams/drinks. Lots of space at the ferry or beach car park with toilets nearby. Walberswick also has a small Coop which we often used after the beach or drove to for provisions. Southwold is a short drive up the coast and there are a number of other outdoor attractions nearby for families.
Thank you for a fantastic week!

As always my wife and I keep returning and I must say it gets better and better well done guys 10/10
The area is fantastic every time we go out we find obvious and Hidden gems to visit and find.
The site is really good and the service is very helpful and friendly.
The new buildings are very impressive I think the toilet and shower building is better than any other I've ever seen, velux roof lights making it very bright and airy all toilet devices are incredibly modern with movement censer flushing etc.
I would suggest the roof lights need to be opened though, as it can get very hot and the moisture content very high.
We camp with our dogs and they are also very well catered for with a great big field especially for them.

Wow! What a lovely site. We stayed as part of a big group and were made very welcome by the owners. Nothing was too much trouble, so friendly.
The new toilet block is out of this world, warm and clean. Good sized shower cubicles ideal for families or those of us who like a bit a space when showering. The shop is well stocked with local produce as well as the essentials. A good selection of tourist information available too, with loads of leaflets for local attractions.
The pitches looked to be a good size, we stayed in the meadow in a large group so camped where we liked. Several pitches looked like they had electric hook-up, although we didn't use it. Good price too.
The playground was brilliant with a zip wire, climbing frames and other bits to amuse kids of all ages. Love the idea of children's story time on Saturdays.
A site we will visit again and would recommend.

We arrived Friday afternoon and was swiftly escorted to our pitch. We setup and then visited the wash rooms and what a surprise that was, better than some 5 star hotels. A very enjoyable weekend, the new owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We plan to return later in the year. Mark & Jill
