This was our first camping trip with out children (5 and 2) and we had gone with friends who also had 2 young children (5 and 4). They put us in a field together with only another tent but we were at opposite corners so didn't disturb each other.
New toilet and shower block were lovely and they had family shower rooms too.
The playground was very well equipped for all age ranges.
In the evening they also came round with ice creams and strawberries to purchase, but they were very discreet when mentioning ice creams so that the kids didn't overhear and pester you if you declined.
Short drive to a nice beach.
Overall a very nice stay even if it was just for one night.

I have just returned from 6 nights at Haw Wood and agree with Robepipe that any old reviews about the facilities should be ignored. The new toilet blocks are amazing and the showers wouldn't be out of place in a hotel! One word of warning is that the water pressure in the washing up area is very high and you either have to press the tap and jump back or try to block the ensuing splash back with a plate.
The pitches are 20m by 9m and we were able to pitch our 8 man tent with porch and still had space for 2 cars.
The owners were very friendly and helpful and provide activities for the children such as story time, arts and crafts and a nature trail. The shop, grounds, cleaning etc is all undertaken by the owners and as there are only 2 of them the shop is only open between 8:00-10:00 and 16:00-18:00. If you do miss the shop opening there is another shop at the top of the road. There is a new cafe that will be opening soon which looks amazing and when I asked they said that they would be getting in help to run this.
My 7 and 3 year old loved the play park and we had difficulty getting them off the site to visit any of the nearby attractions. Days out with mum and dad were much less fun than playing in the park with new found friends.
If you do manage to get away the beaches of Southwold and Attleburgh are within 15 minute drive. Walberswick for crabbing was a big hit with the children. The site is just of the A1120 tourist route with a wealth of other attractions.
Everybody that I spoke to commented on the new facilities and the improvement compared to previous visits. We were so impressed that we are already looking at organising our next visit.

Family of four - 2 children (6yrs & 3yrs) - travelling with touring caravan
A lovely peaceful yet family friendly site. The pitches are huge and laid out in such a way that you don't at all feel cramped. The owners are relaxed and friendly, the site is well kept and clean. There is continued work to the site to complete the cafe/shop but this wasn't taking place during our stay.
We'll definitely return, this was one of the best sites I've stayed on. You can select your preferred pitch when booking and if you need toilet facilities, choose carefully. It could prove to be a bit of a walk to the block from meadow 3 in the middle of the night!
The toilet & shower block is excellent, it is brand new, has been designed well and to a high standard. Lots of room in the individual cubicles.
The children's playground was a hit and Georgina's (proprietor) afternoon storytime for the little ones was second to none, craft tent offered on wet days.
The site is located less than a mile from A12 providing easy access to many great days out all within 20mins drive.
Excellent overall. The new owners have put a lot of effort into making this a great experience.

I must say first. Please ignore the old reviews about this site as there are new owners.
Haw Wood Farm is a great campsite. There's a new children's park, fantastic toilet/shower block with separate disabled and family rooms, dog walking field, very big pitches and the site is very clean. The owners are very helpful and friendly. During a rain shower they put on a craft activity for the children to keep them entertained and read stories on the field during the sunshine.
Great location to enjoy the Suffolk coast.

Really warm welcome, lovely peaceful green, clean site with good sized pitches. Current shower block is dated but kept very clean with electric sockets, great water pressure and small but hot showers. Can't wait to return when the new cafe and facilities are open as we had a sneaky peek and they are AMAZING, very luxurious with huge cubicles and separate family washrooms. Fantastic new children's adventure play area which kept our 2, 4 and 7 year old entertained all weekend.
Great location for cycling to Dunwich or Walberswick. Little on site shop for essentials open morning and evening and a shop with cafe at the end of the lane was really handy. I was a bit concerned about how close it was to the A12 but it is set far away at the end of the lane so nowhere near the traffic but still provides easy access to surrounding heritage coast.
Lovely laid back site, with friendly new managers. Will definitely return.

This campsite is in a beautiful setting. We camped in a corner of a field overlooking fields. Extremely quite and the perfect place to go and relax. Wonderful walks everywhere and a very handy shop just 10 minutes walk down the road along with a little shop on site. It was such a shame that the same care was not taken with the toilets as it obviously has been with the rest of the site. We stayed the week and they had not been cleaned once and soon ran out of toilet paper. Also as a camper, iceblocks are a necessity in hot weather. It was very hit and miss if the shop was open when we needed to get them back. I do realise it wasn't busy when we stayed, but even a solitary camper needs to keep their food fresh! I do not want to finish on a bad note as this site really is a lovely site. We loved our daily visits from Dyson and Henry (owners dogs) they made our day. Thankyou for a lovely holiday.

We've visited this site on several occasions, what draws us back is the peace and quite, unrestricted site and nature. On this visit we were overjoyed to see an owl hunting the hedgerow every evening, last time we watched a stoat for ages, its quiet and all you can hear are the birds. We had a whole field to ourselves except for 4 unused caravans, there were cowslips and daisies along the edge in the hawthorn hedge which we've watched grow since it was planted. The loos were not clean on arrival but there was a D of E school in, they are old and a new block is being built but even new loos need to be kept clean. Now with the East of England co-op and café just up the road at the A12 turn off its ideally placed, I hope it doesn't get too busy but I'm sure the owner doesn't feel the same!

Stayed at Haw wood Farm for a short break with a friend and their children.
First of all was pleased that it was a basic campsite that the kids could ride their bike round and make their own entertainment. The shop was stocked with the basics and the people who run the campsite were very helpful.
We had a great bike ride to Walberswick which is about 6 miles along Dunwich Heath, the kids managed it too and we all had well deserved fish and chips at Southwold harbour.
The only downside is that this is one of the most expensive campsites I have booked and I did expect better facilities. The Childrens play area could be improved to meet the needs of older children as the current one is ok for smaller children.
We had to pay for 4 children as they are not included in the basic price of the pitch (have to pay for children over 5)This meant our pitch was £28. 00 per night. For this I would have expected facilities that were a bit cleaner. The showers were needing some attention and the area would benefit from a good clean.
Overall however it is well placed for exploring the area, its a bit pricier than other campsites so next year we will try to book earlier for some of the other campsites in the area.

On arrival at 1. 30pm the office and shop was closed. I then had to phone the site owner who told me to pitch the caravan anywhere. There is only one shower block for this large site with only 2 showers for male and female. The shower and toilet block was filthy and stayed filthy the whole week. Only one of the shower doors in the ladies had a lock, you cannot regulate the temperature of the shower. Hand dryer didn't work and no paper towels. Dogs roamed free including the owners dog that I saw weeing up someone's awning. The chemical waste point is next to the play area and not covered, saw children playing around the waste point. Would not recommend

Had a really good weekend at this site, found the reception was very friendly and the people who ran the site were very helpful. Only minor issue is there isn't currently that many showers but they are in the process of building a new block. Nicely kept grounds and the site wasn't too busy.
Also very nice to hear from the staff that we could stay as long as we liked on our last day an on arrival we could setup as soon as we arrived since there is no min arrival time or leaving time.
