A simple, unspoilt site in a peaceful rural location. Quick access to Chester and surrounding area.
No light pollution and quiet at night.
Friendly host.
Very basic, only 1 toilet, shower and sink for ladies and outdoor sinks for washing up.
Perfect for a quick, get away from it all, break.

The site was perfect for our second weekend away in our converted Defender 110, but you don't need a 4x4!
We found the field firm to drive on, level in most places and the grass maintained.
The toilet was old but clean and functional. Never used the ladies but the gents is one loo and one shower so there could be a wait during busy times. That said, there was about 8 other parties when we visited and we never had to wait.
The pot wash is in the open so not great in the wind and rain. And we didn't see any info room/ desk - some maps of the local walks, delivery menus etc would be nice, but not essential these days with Apps.
And there was plenty of space in the field to throw a ball around assuming camping in the middle isnt permitted.
We were met by Judy who was very nice and helpful, explaining where things were and providing details on the local area - pubs, chippy etc.
A 20 minute/ 1 mile walk along the road get's you to the Plough Inn which had a nice selection of ale and a nice little menu. There's plenty of parking at the Plough and lots of outdoor seating with a play area.
The local area is generally flat with lots of public footpaths across fields. We enjoyed a 7 mile circular walk form the site through Christleton to the Shropshire union Canal (canal is about 30/ 40 minute walk from the site) where we headed towards Chester and then looping back to the site (detouring to the Plough Inn!) via Pearl Lane (just off the A41) and the Christleton Duck Pond. Nice play area for the children at the duck pond and more walks through the fields (from a hidden path entrance on the right of the play area!).
There's plenty more walking routes to try and the area looks popular for cycling along the lanes.
Will we return? A definite yes! We like farm type sites for our campervan and walking trips as they offer great value, Birch Bank Farm was perfect for this.
See you again Birch Bank.

Excellent camp site! Really very relaxed and such a beautiful setting.
Only downside was there was only one toilet/shower for male and female but it wasn’t overly busy so could workaround.
Served our needs perfectly and friendly owners.

Liked everything, peaceful, but the kids could play out without anyone complaining about noise,
The dog was allowed to be walked around the fields on a lead.
The kids loved Ely the bull.
The farm was basic but had everything you needed the owners were great and very relaxed about payment, said set up first pick your pitch then can me and see us.
Will defo go back in the future.

Lovely site and friendly people. Peaceful with plenty of room. Good EHU. Pub 1. 2 miles - the Plough. Great food. Flat / walkable. We are 69-74 but managed it. Taxi back though! Only £4 ish.
Similarly Taxi to Chester centre. £13 out / £9 back. About 15 mins.
Would certainly recommend the site. IF you are pretty self sufficient apart from EHU, otherwise very clean but limited facilities.
Thanks for a pleasant stay.

I was pleased to fine this site was just the same as when I visited about 7 years ago!
It's a small field fenced off from a cow field, and has an orchard area. It was almost full, but I didn't have to queue for facilities, which are in the farmyard - a loo, a shower, a big wash hand basin.
The washing-up is outdoors - two basins with hot water.
It's not far to the canal and a lovely cycle ride into Chester, well reommended, and since I came before a Waitrose has opened next to the canal!

Very friendly and quiet site. Lots of people staying for one or two nights or more.
First time camping with children and we enjoyed the experience.
The toilets/shower could be better as such a busy little place should have more than 2 loo’s and 2 showers. Also a mop would be good so you can clean up after yourself. Ready for the next person.
