Well, cannot praise this working farm highly enough.
Great location, quiet, farm had loads of campers, in my two week stay I only had to queue once for a shower.
Judy the owner is a real gem.
Will be back.

Camped here with my two sons in August 2011 for three nights. Just a tent, so I review this as a Tent camper only - I cannot comment on caravanning here.
Location: The campsite is very handy for Chester and the main roads, and easy enough to access if you use the back gate.
Facilities: Very basic. If you want all the home comforts - forget it! There is more than one toilet now, but still only one male shower, and that flooded. Pot washing facilities are not under cover. Cannot comment on Ladies facilities - we didn't need to use them.
Pitch; Looks like they have extended the pitching
Area, and it was lumpy. Thank god for sleeping mats. However, it was not too packed and the small orchard area was a real pleasure.
Price; Four days for £40? Bargain.
Conclusion: The above makes the site sound bad - far from it. We will definitely stay here again. As a working farm the kids got some real enjoyment from the cattle. One to watch for the future; Just don't expect home comforts!

Nicely located site, close to chester city centre, and handy for the zoo! Just off the road, so no traffic noise to disturb you.
This site is good to use as a base, but nothing there otherwise.
Showers in great need of upgrading and modernising, very slow not very warm either, and only one male shower and one female. There was a portable cabin with plenty of toilets, but could do with more showers and better ones!
Entrance onto the site not that good either, rough through the farmyard.
For the price, not great, but if you want to rough it you'll be fine!

This site was very close to Chester (less than 3 miles) and handy for all main roads. It was far enough from the road so we were not disturbed by traffic.
The site was pricey at £17.5O a night for 4 of us and electrics. Unfortunately there was no soap or hand drier in the toilets and, for most of our stay, no toilet roll either! As there were no hardstandings or road through the site, the weather meant that that the site was closed to vehicles and we had to waddle backwards and forwards across the muddy field (guess who forgot to pack the wellies!)

What a lovely little campsite we thoroughly enjoyed it and the other campers were so friendly and chatty. Only been camping 3 times but this weekend was the best. We will definitely be coming back here next year and we will be bringing the grandchildren. It is close to all amenities like Chester centre Chester zoo Chester races and supermarkets too. I gave the score of site facilities an 8 only because there was only 1 shower and toilet for the ladies and same for the men. We had electric hook up and and we pitched next to each other as there were 4 adults in 2 tents. All and all we will be coming back so that says it all

We used this site to visit Chester Zoo, which is 10 minutes away. The staff are very helpful and there is a friendly dog that enjoys watching people come and go.
The toilet block / alfresco washing up facilities were always clean and there was plenty of hot water.
There are no shops near by so buy everything on your way in if you’re not staying for long like we did.
We didn't venture off the site as we arrived after work and left early for the zoo next day.
This site is ideally suited for Chester town centre and all the other attractions around, did I mention the zoo!

Stayed for four nights, arrived late (due to traffic)however, we were made very welcome on arrival and shown where to pitch. We were not on the main site area, but on the large field adjoining, and to be honest, in my opinion it was nicer.
The site is basic, only one shower, but there were additional flush toilets in a cabin, so no worries. There was plenty of hot water for washing up and showers. A very relaxed and pleasant place to stay.
If I had to choose a drawback, whilst the site is on a quiet road, there were often cars using the road at a ridiculous speed, so care should be taken on exiting the field and with small children / animals.

Excellent site with a great welcome from the owners, ours was a last minute booking with a 9pm arrival. (even stopped teenager from moaning by offering to charge mobile over night for her),
Good facilities with electric socket in showers, site was very clean with three outdoor sinks for washing up, hot water provided.
Only stayed one night but two tents 4 adults and two cars only £22.00 value

This site was rather disappointing. For caravan and motor home users I suppose facilities don't matter too much because you take most of them with you.
However if you camp with a tent, you rely on site's facilities and this place didn't have many! The field is lovely, flat and with an orchard. One toilet for blokes and one sink and shower, is bearable, one toilet and shower for ladies is something else - plus the two were linked by a window so you could see from one to the other! Sink for washing up in the field is also ok - when I camped on Skye or on other islands - that was fine, but Chester?
There wasn't a fridge nor a freezer, something tent campers need these days to store food in warm conditions. No washing facilities nor somewhere to dry boots or clothes! Its a shame because the people who run the site are nice. All in all, difficult to justify £11 a night!

Stayed 2 nights at the beginning of the half-term weekend. Booked late yet they fitted us in. Friendly helpful owners - we went around the corner from the main site which was mainly caravans and EHU. We were had lots of space and privacy on a good flat pitch - overlooking the fields. The toilet block was quite basic but clean and not over busy. The outside sinks for washing up were fine except for our second day which was very wet! Good pubs nearby and lots of things to see - Chester, Beeston Castle etc. A good small site however I echo the sentiments of others - care needs to be taken exiting the site as cars travel very fast down the lane.
