This was our second visit to Mother Iveys campsite and both times we had a great time. Check in was smooth and effortless and they let us pitch our tent early (as we arrived at 0900) for no extra charge.

We stayed in the overflow camping area called the meadow and in my opinion it is the best location. Some of the prime pitches are dotted around the site in small squares but seem quite cramped in comparison. The meadow is divided up with rows of camping pitches in the centre and slightly more expensive ones around the outside. We stayed in pitch number 6 which w next to the children's play park so was noisier than usual, but we knew this and it was the last pitch on the outside edge available. The pitches are all level and even though it rained hard on one of the days it didn't seen waterlogged. The pitches are quite large with space for my Monty 6 with awning and a 4x4 parked alongside.

The view from the meadow is spectacular and it is a pleasant walk down to the beach, which was never crowded. Toilets and washing Facilities were plentiful but could have been cleaned better. The shop is very well stocked with scrumy Choughs bakery breads and pasties as well as the usual sundry items but as expected it can be a bit expensive.

I would recommend this site and will be returning again.

The Cornish Arms is worth a visit as we had a great meal there.

We chose the site because of the location and the fantastic beach. We stayed just before the schools broke up and had no difficulty booking, but at £33 per night for an unserviced site. Plus a further £5 per night for a dog. Still, this is a fabulous location.

Try to get a pitch with some shelter from the sea breezes. This can easily be arranged in Booby's Field as there are mature hedges. They have an aerial photo with numbered pitches marked. These are very generously sized.

The office staff were very pleasant and helpful, really very welcoming. The shop is good and not too expensive. There is a big Tesco 4 miles away at Padstow and a good convenience store with good quality chilled wine at Constantine Bay a mile away if you need it.

The grounds are kept very well and I was surprised to see other reviews complaining of the standard of the loos. Very clean and recently redecorated. Some of the best, most powerful showers ever. The site was not to capacity but there were plenty of campers and we did not have to queue for anything.

I expect they have their work cut out keeping everything in order at peak season and so I can just forgive the groundsmen being a bit rules are rules and tending to the stroppy. However, they were always about collecting rubbish and making sure the place was immaculate.

We were accused of an infraction of one rule - debated and harmless in any event. However, the groundsmen made a point of driving by in their golf cart pointedly looking at their watches 2 hours before leaving time. I was waiting to be asked for 'your papers now'! Each tent has fixed to it a card with the occupiers' ID and the rules printed on it. Still it was good to have quiet from 11-7 so we can withstand a bit of benevolent dictatorship in the public good.

We would certainly return - if our card has not been marked.

Oh, don't bother with the Chippy at St Merryn. We were amused by the recently re-named Jon's Chippy at Wadebridge now Rick's Chips. Any relation?

Check-in was quick and professional. The majority of the pitches are sloping so levelling blocks are a necessity. The ground staff are very friendly and helpful as is the very nice lady that runs the well-stocked shop. The park itself is well maintained and is constantly being worked upon to keep it looking nice. So why I have given such a low rating? This is the reason why. We normally use the facilities in the our motorhome but if the showers are nice and the park is not too busy then we will sometimes use the park's showers, so I always go and inspect them when we arrive. I couldn't believe what I saw, so much so that I made my husband come and have a look too in case he thought that I was exaggerating. He couldn't believe it either, it was totally unacceptable. It did not matter that they were so dated, but there is NO excuse for dirty facilities, and these were certainly that. There were piles of old leaves and grass cuttings heaped up in the toilet area under the corner sink and in both of the toilet cubicles, these had probably blown in under the gap of the outside entry door over a period of time, it hadn't just recently happened. There were two toilets and one of them was completely bunged up with toilet paper and looked like it had been like that for some time. Also both toilets were in need of a thoroughly good cleaning to remove what was stuck to the insides of them and under the seats, it was disgusting and very unhygienic. There were muddy footprints in and out of the showers and the shower water, which is at a set temperature, ran only luke warm even after I had been pressing the button in continuously for 5 minutes. There was no sign of heating in the whole of the shower/toilet block and it was very cold in there. For the duration of our 5 day stay the same dirt and mess remained in there, not once did we see a member of staff go in to do any cleaning even though a female member of staff spent a whole afternoon weeding the flower bed on the pitch next to the shower block. It's a shame that they cannot give the same attention to the facilities. I fully expect Mother Iveys to reply to this review to give some excuse as they always do when an unfavourable review is left, but so much was our amazement and disbelief at what we saw I took some pictures which I can send as proof if needed.

Amazingly beautiful, sea views, you can walk down to the private beach from this site. The site has hedges full of flowers and wildlife and are maintained to a very high standard!

The staff are friendly and have dealt immediately with our issues in a kind and efficient way. The facilities are excellent, toilet blocks are very good throughout the site, some of the best we have ever experienced, clean with hot showers. Excellent laundry facilities. Play area is well maintained. Shop has almost everything you would need! Fresh bread every morning!

The 'Meadow Field' where we chose to stay in the Summer is lovely with fantastic views of the bay. They were talking about putting a new toilet block in the Meadow which would be brilliant! The 'Meadow' would benefit from having the grass cut regularly especially when it's been raining so much, even though it's a meadow!

Our family think this site is pretty close to perfect, everything you need, including excellent surfing lessons from Harlyn Bay Surf School and fantastic coastal walk to Padstow! The area is brilliant for cycling too! We have visited four times and will hopefully be visiting again this spring.

Lovely site with very friendly staff who are always willing to help. Stayed on a Deluxe pitch which was spacious with its own picnic bench, tap and drain. It has its own private beach within a short walk.

The main Harlyn Bay beach was half an hour walk along the beautiful coastal path or a short drive away. £4 to park all day.

Across the road from this beach is a pub which had some of the best pub food we have ever had. I very much recommend the steak and kidney pie. There was good entertainment from local bands at the weekend.

Back to the site - spotlessly clean with staff working very hard to keep it so. Also had a well stocked shop.

The only disadvantages I could see were that the shower blocks were a fair distance walk from our pitch and there were not a lot of showers. As we visited outside the school hols this did not matter but I could imagine queues in the peak weeks. Highly recommended and we will revisit.

My wife and I stayed at Mother Iveys Bay for 6 nights at the start of July and despite it not being the best weather we could have hoped for it was a great stay.

We stayed on Boobys field (named as its on the side of Boobys bay). We had an allocated pitch which was a good size and I liked the mini wooden fence to mark the areas of each pitch.

The location is perfect with the campsite having access to a fantastic beech within a minutes walk. And its also on the coastal walk route which gives you wonderful views of the neighbouring areas and bays.

We liked the nearby location of the showers, toilets and washing facilities. The shop catered for everything you could want and even has pasties supplied by an excellent baker from Padstow.

Staff were friendly and helpful at reception and around the camp.

Fantastic views, friendly site with great access to its own beach and nearby walks.

I selected the Mother Ivey campsite after many evening's pouring over the internet and various campsite guide books.

I selected this site as it seemed to have a reasonable balance of facilities without being too commercial.

The checking in process was formal, quite well organised, but time consuming; operating the computer based checking in system seemed to take forever. Once complete the wardens gave a thorough briefing on site rules and clear directions to our allotted pitch.

We were staying in the area opened up for tents during peak season. The area was vast, the grass was more long, quite like an organised festival.

After two days the crowds of uncontrolled children that seem to roam the campsite from dawn to late evening persuaded me to seek a quieter campsite.

There was several sanitary blocks, some taking the form of small portable cabins. They were generally clean and the queues were acceptable given the size of the campsite and number of facilities.

The surrounding beaches were clean and the sea very clear. Access to the site is via a narrow road that was busy at times.

This is a beautiful site with a lovely location. Camping areas are sectioned off with walls covered in flowers.

Good facilities

Friendly staff

Its location is perfect with nice walks to other bays. Its private sandy beach is easily reached.

We visited out of season and I imagine it gets very busy during school holidays. When we were there in June they were preparing a field for more capacity. This may stretch the facilities.

Will definitely return.

This is the best site that we have been to in12 years of caravanning. The site is beautifully clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and so helpful. The facilities are immaculate. We had a service pitch which was completely enclosed and private. We had a fantastic view of Padstow lifeboat house and the sea. The beach was stunning and so clean.

The only negative we had, which was no fault of the site owners, was the inconsiderate dog owners who ignored the signs that their dogs must be on leads and let them run lose on the beach.

Very well laid out site although a little pricey especially in the kids holidays.

Clean toilets and showers.

Dog friendly with plenty of poo bins around the site which people used.

Spacey pitches level and electric hook ups.

Best of all a private beach and 10 mins walk along the cliff top, coastal path in either direction other beaches to walk to.

Good shop on site with all the basics.

Very nice planted areas all around the site with flowers in.

Good children's playground.

All in all a site I would return to and recommend.
