We have used this site perhaps 6/7 times over the past 40 years. White House Beach is a members only site with direct access to the shingle beach at Kessingland.

The site has two separate pitching areas. The larger one is where the reception building is and all arrivals have to report in here. Although mainly hardstanding pitches in this section there are about a third grass pitches. Awnings are allowed on most pitches in this area but there are also some non-awning pitches marked by a different coloured peg. There are no serviced pitches.

Across the road from reception is a second, smaller, pitching area with direct access to the shingle beach with 24 pitches. All pitches are on hardstanding in this section and again a mix of awning and no-awning pitches.

The beachside section has its own toilet block and motorhome disposal point. On the main section there are two toilet blocks, the main one being at the rear of the site with a smaller one near to reception.

The motorhome service point on the main part of the site is of the older type with lifting metal cover. The way it is positioned would also require a length of hose to get to the drain point unless (UK) vehicles turn against the direction of traffic so they could dump directly into the drain.

Ironically the service point on the smaller beach section of the site is superb with a reverse in over an open grill. Service points are dotted around the site.

Electric points are convenient to all pitches and are rated at 16 amps and use standard CEE17 blue connectors. The electric bollards also have Co-Ax TV connections. Reception sells a variety of essentials and next door is an information room. Site wide WiFi is available and time can be purchased online.

On our latest stay I used my phone 4G data which worked pretty well. Near the main toilet block there is a small adventure playground although nothing really for younger children.

We generally found this to be a very peaceful site although occasionally the peace is broken by a nearby bird scarer which does a double thud. Also be aware that the local pub does host live music events which can be heard on site.

This site is convenient for exploring the Suffolk coast. Lowestoft, the most easterly town in England is not far away. In the other direction is Southwold.

There are several attractions near to the site including Africa Alive, East Anglia Transport Museum and Pleasurewood Hills. For shopping there is a large Morrisons on the A12. There are several bus services from Wash Lane which is about a half mile walk from the site.

The options are buses to Lowestoft, Norwich and Southwold. There is a bus stop at the end of Beach Road opposite the pub but it is uncertain whether it is still in use. Not far from the site is the Waterfront Restaurant/café and the Sailors Home pub.

Please note that whilst we still have the COVID epidemic restrictions some service may not be available but clear instructions are given on arrival at the site.

Right on the sea - some few pitches literally right on the sea wall. You can walk out to the sea and check cafes/pubs right near the site.

There is a walk 5. 31 miles around Kessingland marshes, inland back to the town, then along cliffs north and back to site.

The Waterfront cafe by the entrance, was beyond expectations! Starters of marquet sausage and caprese salad, then pinchos Marinetos (fish skewer) and brisket burger (beef burger and brisket). All superb.

Another 7. 3 mile walk along beach to Covehithe and - superb coast, cliffs a geologists dream, and very nice walking

Then a cycle 35 miles to Gisleham, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, Kessingland, Henstead, Wrenham, Richmere, Gisleham and back.

Gem of a site, great wardens shame they are moving on but it will be another sites gain. Choice of pitches by the beach or sheltered area, we choose the latter because of forecast strong winds and wanted to put up the awning.

Lovely flat pitches although one or two pooled with water during heavy rain. Like a lot of club sites the toilet facilities could do with a refurbishment although worked fine and plenty of hot water in the showers.

Thought the site would benefit from service pitches in future. Used the booster cable for the TV and the WiFi worked fine. The nearest fish and chip shop in the village was excellent and the Waterfront restaurant worth a visit.

Plenty do in the area including Southwold, Aldeburgh and walking galore.

 Lovely site.

Great location few yards walk from beach and from fabulous restaurant, the Waterfront.

Well worth a try.

Site clean and tidy.

Wardens very helpful and friendly.

Would definitely stay here again.

Great location for the beach and pub and restaurant. Kessingland has a small functional village centre with co-op, post office, takeaway etc. Quite a modern town.

When we were there the church bell tower was open for tours which was interesting.

Beach is mostly pebbles and you can’t see the sea/beach easily as it’s sort of on a dip. Large expanse of moorland, flat dunes between prom and sea. Fab for the dog to run around off lead.

Site is nice and quiet. Two toilet blocks - one across road from main site at the smaller beach site. We stayed on main site as it was more private and sheltered. Small shop on site.

Usual CMC standards.

The site is ideally located for the beach which a mixture of scrub and shale, and is accessed via the beachside pitches across the access road to the holiday camp.

A lot of trees on site so not many pitches get full sun all day, probably best side for the sun would be the pitches backing onto the pub and house, so to the right as you enter the site.

Standard CMC toilet block, clean but dated, with fixed head showers and nylon shower curtains, the club really needs to modernise their amenities blocks. Off lead dog walk behind the toilets, adequate, I've seen smaller, but as the beach is so close, off lead exercise is not an issue at this site.

Lowestoft and Southwold are both reachable by the local bus and dogs are allowed, bus stop 5 min walk from site. We did the 10 mile walk to Lowestoft and back, but took the bus to Southwold as that would be even further. 25 min walk to Co-op in Kessingland.

If the wind is in the wrong direction then you will smell the sewage farm which is close by, unfortunately it was.

Chose this site for its location and proximity to the beach.

Very narrow roads on approach to the site, with a very sharp bend.

The beach was great for the dogs, literally a stones throw away, but that's where it ends.

Wardens greeted with a warm welcoming smile and all the information. After booking in chose a pitch at the side of the beach. The site is divided into 2 sections, 1 by the beach and another a little inland. When we arrived the pitching seemed a little squashed in - hence why I opted for the beach side.

All the grassed areas looked dead and uncared for. This suprised me bearing in mind the amount of rain we have had recently. Even the main site grass looked very sick.

Toilet block whilst kept clean on a daily basis did lack the usual caravan club standards I have seen in other sites. There was a lack of toilet facilities in the gents, having to queue most mornings to use the facilities. 3 urinals and 2 toilets and 3 sink cubicles and the smallest hand wash sink I have ever seen. Decor was very dated and I imagine very difficult to keep clean.

What I found really off putting was the drinking water tap was right outside the window to the gents toilets so you can imagine what you could hear and smell whilst emptying waste water or filling the water barrel. Overall the site looked very baron and old and worn

Saying all this we did enjoy our week there. Watching the ships on the sea and the many forms of wildlife.

It has been some time since I last visited this part of the country lowestoft was very run down, lots of shuttered shop fronts and very little to see or do in the town itself. Plenty of supermarkets to choose from and a small out of town retail park.

We visited great yarmouth and found this to be grubby too. Really gone down

Southwold however is such a beautiful town. 15-20 drive from the site, with a stunning beach (sadly no dogs in summer months). So nice that we visited twice in our weeks stay. If the white house beach site was at southwold it would have been a fantastic place to visit.

Overall, a very disappointing site. The wardens should be commended for doing their best, but sadly I feel that I will not be visiting again. Some improvements to suggest would be - dog bin at the entrance to the beach from the beach site, move the drinking water taps away from the toilet block, better bins for recycling and lastly the whole site needs some tender loving care to improve it's appearance

Super friendly reception by wardens. Site split in 2 by single quiet road front site great views straight on to pebbly beach.

Site and facilities well maintained, wardens very helpful and hard working, liked the local notice board with different amusing comments most days.

Easy access to beach area (not sandy), good walking area for the dogs between campsites and beach area.

Beautiful old church and ruins at Covehithe.

Easy driving to coastal attractions and the Broads.

Site was very well kept and wardens were very friendly. Site was well laid out with hard standing and grass pitches.

Kessingland beach is a 5 min walk opposite the site and there is a pub nearby but that’s it in terms of things to do but it was lovely and quiet and we would definitely stay here again.

There are food shops etc a 5 min drive away.

I have Stayed here a week so far

I am on the beach side part of the site

It’s lovely to be able to look out to the sea

As said before it’s a pebble beach but is easily reached even by someone who can’t walk very well

The warden welcomed me with a smile and asked where I’d like to go saying there’s pitches available on the beachside, go look where you like to go

There were no pitches available on the front row, so I chose one at the back it was fairly level and a hardstanding

The facilities are clean and well looked after the staff are doing a good job

The weather is hot and dry so it’s pleasant to be able to sit outside

The only downside is the pitch is only about 8 feet from a road, and although this is a narrow road the speed of the traffic can be unnerving, there are ridges across the road at intervals but this doesn’t seem to slow the speed

In fact lorries ignore these as they make little difference to them but causes terrific bangs and crashes as they run over them at speed

The road ends in a holiday camp so therefore is a dead end so speeding lorries cause two bangs a visit, I know this is not the sites fault but it is something to consider when choosing your pitch

The local fish and chip shop is good but painfully slow, it seems the cook does one order at a time and in busy times you will need to wait nearly 45 minutes to get your order

I won’t be returning to this site not because there is anything wrong here it’s just I like to try different places
