Never again like others have already intimated. But firstly for some positives - The site itself is lively with some excellent entertainment during our stay and can’t fault this side of the park, the static area called the “lakes” looked absolutely fantastic along with the other 5 star areas on the park. The site has 2 swimming pools which we visited on several occasions, nice and clean with water walkers and other water sports available at extra charge, the fun fair again extra charge, quad biking at extra charge, pedal boats at extra charge, motorized boats, fishing, bouncy castles you guessed it all at extra charge. The site has its own golf course which looks nice from a distance but that’s not for the general public and for the static owners only, the Spar shop was well stocked and surprisingly affordable with good deals to be had. Eating out you had Fish and chips, lovely papa john’s Pizza, the Mash n Barrel restaurant all reasonably priced with Carvery on a Sunday and breakfast for a few quid.

Now for some Touring info – Check in is a wooden hut next to the old static caravan reject area which had trucks, tractors and static caravan movements most days, the touring site itself was unkept with overgrown weeds, bushes and trees. The grass was unkept (where there was grass) with litter laying around. The drains stank at the “European standard super pitches” but did have electric and water around 20ft from the van. The 1 refuse bin area was over grown, overflowing and pests flying around just to make the dumping of rubbish interesting. The lighting from the tennis court up through a lane to the touring site is non-existent and don’t recommend any children or women walking around there on their own at night. The toilets had broken door locks both on the outside door and inside, the toilet attendant did try to do a good job but people don’t treat this place with respect with mess in the toilets, vomit in the shower and people leaving shavings in the sinks which I feel is unacceptable and these type of people should be banned from going out in public! The site is very secluded and out of sight - out of mind seems to be the way forward.

We have visited this site at various times of the year and this time it was the last week of the season. NEVER AGAIN!

On arrival we were given our allocated pitch number, only to find a caravan pitched up there. We went back to tell the warden who said we could choose another pitch. Every pitch we looked at was a complete mud bath and full of puddles. There is a hard standing concrete area for your unit, but to reach the bollard where you have your electric hook up and and fresh water you had to make your way through mud and puddles (good job I took my wellies).

There were lots of complaints and a lot of disgruntled campers.

On the plus side all facilities were open and hats off to the lady who kept the toilet block extremely clean. She was there twice a day, mopping and cleaning, which must have been difficult due to all the muddy feet walking in and out of there. The toilet block was always lovely and warm due to the underfloor heating and plenty of hot water, never had to queue for a shower.

The outdoor wash up area has been updated, but this could do with a bin for people to put there waste instead of leaving it in the bottom of the sinks.

This site is in a really good location, it is only a 25 min walk along the beach to Filey, and probably 35 mins along the cliff top. There are two bus stops on the site, where you can catch the bus to Scarborough or Bridlington.

The Spar shop on site is well stocked and normal Spar prices, some bargains to be had.

The touring pitches would be far improved if the awning area was gravelled. It was no fun getting covered in mud everytime you needed to fill up with fresh water.

I would have given this park 10 out of 10, but the pitches really let it down. The park needs to spend a bit of money gravelling those pitches.

We have just come home from a Sun newspaper holiday at Primrose Valley. We have done a few holidays this way and have always been impressed.

We arrived earlier than our scheduled check in but our caravan was ready, the check in staff were helpful and directed us using the map as it is a huge sight. Our caravan was just a standard one and was clean and tidy with all the beds made. Unfortunately the air vent in our roof was leaking due to rain I rang reception who said that they couldn't do anything about it as a vent is health and safety required, I insisted someone came to check it out as the floor was slippery to both us and our toddler daughter. Maintenance came out quick but only left us with blue roll to mop it up. No alternative was offered to us or apology. Luckily we had little rain till we were leaving so didn't turn out to be a problem. My husband said they must been aware of it as it looks like it had been sealed recently.

The park was clean and tidy with lots of choice of food, drink, activities although the fun fair didn't open until our 4th day and lots of things did appear closed-maybe as it was only a Monday to Friday trip.

The entertainment for children was fantastic although it was very busy and we had to get in extremely early to get a seat. There seemed to be far too many people with only the one bar for entertaining- we couldn't leave our seats because as soon as we moved people were trying to take them from under us.

The location was nice with quite a walk to the beach, there was a big hill to go down and not very practical for some to manage. We walked along the beach into Filey and sat building sandcastles.

Over all we would go again but earlier on or later on in the year so that we can take advantage of the facilities and not have up queue for everything.

On arriving at primrose valley check in straight forward, all pitches are hardstanding with grass side for your awning ect but be warned when it rains the grass side of it is like a mud field.

The touring field is left at the main entrance with a code barrier to let you in and out for added security, there is 1 toilet block which was kept nice and clean with in my stay, just a short walk passed the shower block there is a small fun fair and a lakeside bar which is connected to the mash and barrel up near the main complex there are bikes for hire and water pedal boats.

The main entertainment complex is about a 15 to 20min walk away and like one person said the bar was just too full for the amount of guest on the park you have to get there for 5-30 for when it opens to get a seat, the show bar was only open on a friday, Saturday and sun I booked for a week sat to sat but came home early on the Wednesday simply because you could not get to see the entertainment.

The food is nice served at the mash and barrel, a well stock spar and starbucks coffee shop over all I would rate this park 5/10 and would not be returning.

I am a big fan of Haven as the holidays are relatively good value for money and my 4 year old girl loves the Haven show characters and activities (most of which are free unlike other holiday companies).

In the last few years we have been to Haven resorts at Reighton Sands, Blue Dolphin, Marton Mere and Thorpe Park. We have always enjoyed the holidays and could not fault the sites or accommodation.

Arriving for the first time at Primrose Valley was pleasant enough, nice big clean park and a caravan that appeared to be brand new. The nightmare started when we wanted to enjoy the facilities! We have always experienced a certain amount of crowding but this was ridiculous. The site was totally oversubscribed for the size of the venues.

The character shows on an evening were so overcrowded that there was no chance of a seat unless you got there well before the start. This usually couldn’t happen as it took a lifetime to find a space to park and a few evenings I just give up as there wasn’t a spare space anywhere near the complex! Yes, I could have walked but my 4 year old would have struggled so hence the use of the vehicle.

The other facilities weren’t much better and I wasn’t prepared to take her swimming as there would have been no enjoyment in standing in a long queue to end up having not enough water to turn around in never mind swim.

The sheer overcrowding also brought out the worst in people and there was a very selfish and unpleasant atmosphere about it all. Still a fan of Haven, but not Primrose Valley.

Full credit to the staff as well as they remained polite and professional in the face of an overwhelming number of customers.

Just back from a very wet week at Primrose Valley. Our two boys (5 & 3) loved it, but we weren't quite as enamoured with it. Not sure if we'll be back.

Positives : Good location, great indoor adventure pool (although it needed far more changing cubicles), good Spar shop / chip shop / Starbucks / pizza shop on site, site fees not bad value, free wi-fi at Starbucks, reception & the main restaurants.

Negatives : Crowded, only one (very average) playground, internet signal very poor, rough clientèle, very noisy until 2am, difficult to park outside your caravan, kids club activities disappointing (far too much emphasis on arts & crafts & not enough running around), fairground & amusements expensive, lots of kids activities cost extra.

We stayed in a static caravan, but a word of warning to tourers - the pitches are small, very close together, beside the noisy A165 & a long walk from the main entertainment complex.

Tips - the Scarborough Park & Ride service is excellent & very good value. Bring blankets & at least 2 extra heaters, as the caravans are very cold. Bring some earplugs to sleep with. Don't lose your entertainment passes.

Bridlington's worth a visit. Don't put your rubbish bags outside the caravan as the crows & seagulls will rip them to bits!

Normally I avoid Haven sites as the prices always seem very inflated for little more than other sites offer, however as my kids insisted they wanted to go somewhere like this, I broke my own rule, but in the end, really wished I hadnt.

Booking, simple and straight forward via the website. I enquired as to late stay on departure day and was advised that I needed to arrange this on the day with the site. Fair enough, I was booking approx 4 months ahead!

On arrival, touring areas is right at the entrance to the main site and there is a large parking bay. A barrier, with key code system, prevents unauthorised access to the pitch areas. We arrived at 6pm and the touring arrivals 'shed' was closed (it closes at 5pm), so I uncoupled our van and drove to the other end of the site to the main reception, which also closes at 5pm. So I rang the emergency number on the door and eventually someone answered and arranged to meet me at the touring area and let me in, which he did at approx 6. 30pm.

Pitches are concrete, and large, and ample space for an awning on the grass at the side. Parking for cars is in front of the pitch.

Approx 50 touring pitches, serviced by 1 toilet and shower block, which I saw being cleaned twice a day. Never any queues and didn't see any showers ever being used.

On site entertainment is overkill on the kiddy stuff. The main complex, which contains the sites only shop, is a good 20 minute walk away from the touring area, so be prepared for several walks, but there is also a small entertainment complex close by - but this doesn't provide shows or entertainment, and is simply a bar and small fun fair.

You need passes to use the complex, which need renewing every friday. We stayed thursday to Sunday and were given passed on arrival on Thursday evening. We didn't go to the complex, however when we went on Friday morning we were told that our passes had expired and we needed new ones - which I had to go to reception for, leaving my wife to explain to the kids why they hsd to wait 20 minutes to go in the amusements and get breakfast.

On departure I arrived at the main reception (touring reception again closed) at 9am and was told there was no availability and I would need to be off by 10am - at no point had I been informed that the site was full despite mentioning this on several occasions throughout my stay. Started to pack up and was probably ready to depart at about 11. 15am. Saw wardens drive by on several occasions, almost as if they were checking that we were leaving.

Overall, a nice site, but tourers are very much an after-thought from the 'millionaire' static users and I refused to let the annoyance of arrival and departure ruin my break. However on reflection, these little things could easily have ruined this

On arrival to site we were allocated pitch No19 looked ok however you would need a level ramp as this pitch and most of the others where on a slope. It is also near the main road so expect noise as you can hear the boy racers going up and down on a night.

Once the site filled up it felt like a car park as you where packed in (the more the better).

The site has coded barrier, toilet/showers, the shower block is ok but starting to look a little tired but clean. Location of the touring site is the other end of the caravan park and where the workmen pass through to get gas bottles etc for the statics.

There is no park or swings etc on the touring site for kids and the only park on the haven complex was out of bounds as it had just been painted(why wait untill site has opened)

Complex passes where included in the price and you get free use of some of the pools etc one of which was cold.

As you would expect from haven prices are inflated in the complex carlsberg extra cold (it was warm) £3. 10 a pint, guiness £3. 50 and a half of coke was £1. 85, I did buy a Hotdog from the stand at £3. 00 which was cold and when complained to vender they said what do you want me to do (money back). The chippy out side cost us £13. 00 for 1 sausage 3 small portions of chip and 2 gravy and chips.

Overall site is cheap to pitch and great to use as location to see the surrounding area, but if you are going to use the haven complex have deep pockets and prepare to be insulted as some of the staff are rude. This seems to be the norm at most haven sites?

Stayed at Primrose Valley touring caravan site within the haven complex at primrose. Date June 2011. Arrived and found reception shut ! Note on door to ring main office in the static area. Told which pitch number - went to it and found a caravan already on it . Picked one we liked and had to ring back to tell them all on the phone. Pitches are hardstanding for the caravan but the awning area is grass, which was actually damp muddy grass, this was when it was hot and fine weather. We put down our awning floor and water was pushed through, I had to purchase a second floor sheet to prevent this

The water and waste drainage is fine. Tv reception is hit and miss but perfect if you have a sat dish. My wife had to drive to the main office for the passes to the rest of the haven site, which I can only describe as something off the phoenix club! We went for one drink on the terrace area and purchased drinks in the bar ' mash and barrel', inside no aircon, drinks way over priced and were off ! Both my wife and mine. You have to change your passes every Friday as we found out trying to get into the kids entertainment area, we were not told of this by anyone or in the literature. The kids entertainment is not to bad but very loud, you can hardly hear yourself talk. We purchased a cider, a glass of wine and two small slushes for my children -£12. Oo !

Going back to the touring site though it is clean and quiet, the shower block is clean but you have to get a key and leave a £5 deposit. They have a good dog walk and nature trail at the rear of the touring pitches. They have a recycle area but no plastic ?????. It is ok to use as a base but no kids play area for the tourers. Staff for the touring site I did not see for our week. My main concern and notice it has been reported over the last three years is the awning area for the pitches. Put down some drainage stones on top and make it level ( ours pitched, number 22 sloped to the back like the titanic) Come on haven at primrose valley it would only cost £ 15-20 a pitch to put down some stones!

Date of Visit: September 2010 Unit:  Touring Caravan

We stayed at Primrose Valley, 2 adults and a toddler during September 2010. We originally found it when staying at Blue Dolphin in a static caravan and liked the look of it. We didn’t follow sat nav as it takes you down a narrow lane, instead we followed the main road signs which takes you to the main entrance. (Which is quite nice entrance compared to others we have stayed at) the touring site is literally by the main entrance. It has a touring warden office and a security barrier which you are given the code to once signed in. Touring warden was nice and friendly, making an effort to interact with our toddler.

We were in pitch number one which was a nice flat pitch with hard standing for van, grass for awning and car park space in the front. We were easily able to reverse park the caravan onto the pitch but not sure we could have if the site was full, or if we had stayed further down and they looked more compact, but this wouldn’t have been a problem as our van is a Lunar which is lightweight. The problem we had was the ground was so wet due to all the rain, the grasses area next to our van was really muddy and we couldn't use it even when weather was nice.

It had waste/water connections which makes life easier. The site does back onto the main road but noise isn’t too much of a nuisance due to the amount of trees between the site and road.

There was a family bathroom which was useful with a full size bath which made bath times with our son easier, especially as sometimes the showers could be quite hot. The showers and toilets were OK, clean most of the time but there was a big downside to the showers as the lighting is triggered by a sensor when someone enters the toilets. However as it was September and evenings were drawing in, it was dark by 8pm, this was a problem as every time I went for a shower, nobody came in so spent half the time showering and dressing in the dark (I’m a wimp and don’t like the dark!) Husband didn’t have this problem as someone always went in and out of the toilets apart from the last night when he finally understood how difficult it can be trying to dress in the dark. It just meant I had to shower while still light.

I would strongly recommend that you drive to the main complex first or take a map to find your way as we didn’t and went to walk the first night and walked for ages to find ourselves lost in the static’s, the signs were a bit confusing and misleading. We have stayed a several Haven sites and never had an issue with navigating the park. We went back and looked at the map to find we were nowhere near the complex. We drove after that as is it quite a distance to walk, especially on a chilly autumn evening with a toddler. Hence we didn’t use the facilities as much as we usually would.

There is a swimming pool right next to the touring park but the one in the main complex was much brighter and nicer so we used that one.

The actually park is lovely and flat, I felt the touring park could have done with being a little closer to the main complex.
