We booked this site the night before we arrived after a last minute decision to change from our original site. It was £97.00 for 6 nights on a fully serviced pitch which we thought was great seeing as we had been quoted double that price for other sites in the area.
When we arrived the touring reception was closed - I rang the number on the door and a girl answered but got cut off - the third time of trying I was getting annoyed and then the security guard turned up and communicated over his radio and saw us to our pitch. It was a good pitch although the last 2 days of the holiday we got an awful smell coming up through our sinks which must have been because of the heavy rain.
The site is massive and it was a 10minute walk to the main complex (a fast walk) then I would say another 20minutes down to the beach then about another 30-45 to get to Filey - the beach is fantastic, long, wide and clean and the dogs loved it and it was a tiring but a great walk to Filey and back on our first day. We are not very fit!
The entertainment complex is full of arcade machines, we don't have kids and spent enough so goodness knows how much families end spending - all I could see the whole week was kids asking for more money! there is a burger king, pizza place and fish and chips which were good but would have liked to see a few more healthy options. Judging by the queues at each of the outlets though I cant see them changing the menu! the tap and barrel offers more home cooked style meals but again not a healthy option of anything in sight.
The Show Bar was really enjoyable on an evening, we played bingo and took part in the quiz every night and there was a good live band. There were live acts every night, some better than others.
Really well stocked shop, site was clean and the starbucks was nice to spend an hour reading the papers and its wireless as well if you want to take your laptop.
A site like this is never something we had considered before and its the first time we have had this type of holiday. Our touring holiday to france fell through due to our dog sitter letting us down so we wanted somewhere with plenty to do if we wanted it and just to chill out and have a laugh for a few days and it certainly ticked all the boxes. Its what you make of it and we had a great time. I like to try different places with having a touring caravan and this site has certainly now given us the confidence to try another Haven site in a different area.

This wasn't our first visit and won't be our last. General standard of the touring area is high. Toilet and shower blocks are generally of a good standard. The whole site (touring and static) is pretty good and as Haven sites go, this ranks as one of the best. Pitch sizes are adequate with own water and waste supplied. Never tripped the electric so seems to be one of the better rated supplies). Warden friendly and helpful.
The standard of entertainment is good (as it should be). Overall site cleanliness, including facilities (pools, road, etc) is good except the Burger King. Every time we have been there its filthy and very poorly looked after. Am guessing that the franchise is run by non-Haven staff, however they really could do much better.
You get the usual things that you would expect from a Haven site, however, most of the facilities over the whole site do not get overcrowded (ie. Number of facilities to guests ratio is about right) with the exception of the bars at night which can get a little too overcrowded for me. Facilities include tennis courts, funfair, crazy golf, laser combat, fishing and boating lake, amusement arcades, showbars, 2 swimming pools (1 is more of a fun pool than the other), all weather sports court, playgrounds, grassed areas, plenty of walks, etc.
The walk to the beach takes around 15 minutes, with about another 30 across the front to reach Filey. Not the best of trips if you have younger children (most pathways are fine with a concrete slope for a few hundred feet down to the beach), but should be fine for most.
The addition of Laser Combat was great for the kids. Couldn't drag them away from it. Appeared to be managed by an outside company who were concerned about the weather affecting their business so hinted that they might have to close it. Shame if it does as it provided many hours of entertainment for the kids (aah, peace and quiet time for mum and dad!).
On site shop reasonably well stocked (especially with overpriced novelty items) but a bit pricey. We avoided the eating areas as these have always been poor in the past, but this may well have improved this year.
Lighting around the site could be better. Overall a good site and a good standard which has plenty to do for kids of all ages. Next year already booked!

Have just returned from a weeks stay at Primrose. Arrived in pouring rain to find the check in for tourers was closed. Allocated pitch over the phone from reception.
Pitch was a good size with allocated space on road for car. Due to the terrible weather we have had where we were due to put the awning was just a big pool of mud. We decided not to bother erecting it.
I found the shower complex for the ladies OK. Site was full but did not have to wait for a shower. Same could not be said for family bathroon. This was absolutely disgusting. There were lots of flies and dead creepy crawlies in it. I would not have bathed my dog in it let alone my 2 youngest. I therefore had to bathe them in the van.
The touring site is situated immediately as you go onto the site so it is quite a walk to the main complex. There are now only 2 clubs on site. We only went out twice but on both occasions were unable to get a seat in the family bar and it was only 6.45pm. The swimming pools were good and both were clean. Usual expensive holiday prices for food, drink not too bad you could get a 4 pint pitcher of lager for just over a tenner. I probably would not return to Primrose. We paid £400 for a week which I think for the standard of the facilities on site was expensive and exploring the area saw other sites which looked nicer.

We have just got back home after a week at primrose valley. We were a little hesitant with it being a haven site but after reviews on here we took the plunge and was not one bit dissapointed. The site is fantastic, the touring pitches were well maintained, all being super pitches and plenty of room in between each other. Toilets and showers were spotless (and I am fussy) there was a indoor swimming pool and outdoor pool just around from tourer section along with some rides, crazy golf and go karts so did not feel like this site was only interested in statics. We went up to the main complex and again was spotless. There was another indoor pool more catered to children as had fun water features. The entertainment was first class, we don't usaully do club houses but this was excellent. The time we went was good because was not too busy. Although the tourer section was fully booked, there was no noisy behaviour. I can imagine that it gets very busy during the summer holidays especially club houses ect. But anyone considering going, but concerned because its haven, I would say GO FOR IT and you will see how all haven sites should be. The security is very good, has a barrier entrance and patrols during the day and there is a 24 hour number if there is any problems.

I was pleasantly surprised with this site, not looking forward to going as the site is so big, however we were only stoppiing one night. Absolutely brilliant site - toilets excellent, showers a bit of a nuisance having to keep pressing for the water, but overall well impressed. Screened by mature trees from the rest of the camp and despite being by the road hardly noticed road noise. Well laid out each one has own pitch and parking space. Well done Haven excellent site.

I have just read some of the other reviews and obviously we picked a bad week to go LOL.
There are only 4 toilet cubicles on the gents side, 2 of them had no locks on. I reported it to a totaly un-interested member of the staff at the main site. The site was full so most people were using 2 toilets. I mentioned it to the chap doing the cleaning too and it sounded like it had been that way for a while. Nothing was done about it during our stay.
Generally the place is of a good standard, plenty to do although the site is so big if you have younger kids you are going to have to take them everywhere as it is so easy to get lost! Not that we send our kids off on their own all the time but at some smaller sites you can keep an eye on them playing at the park from the pitch.
You get leisure passes which are only going to cover swimming; other activities apart from kids clubs and evening entertainment have to be paid for.
The beach is a good hike away and the touring pitches are about as far away as you can get from the sea so once again not ideal for little ones. Best to drive to Bridlington, it will be quicker.
We had to wait an hour to get on a pitch too, although as ours wasn’t vacated there were others being allowed on who arrived after us.
Won’t be going again I don’t think.

Just spent 5 nights at this site, there was 3 tourers in our group with 6 Adults and 5 Children, weather was ok. The site is very clean and the toliets and showers where spotless.
Entertainment was very good the childrens entertainer was called Chris which we heard last time at Presthaven sands and out of all the kids entertainers I would say he is the best.
But back to the site, the swimming pool the kids loved and the racing model cars. There is a Chinese on the site which is not Haven so the prices are ok. The shop on site is well stocked but we found a Spar which is just outside the site at the garage. This is a 5 star site and it shows it. I would go again to this site and the price was not to bad as it cost £34 for the 5 nights.

Just got back after spending the May Day weekend at this great site. If there were just the two of us, it wouldn't have been our choice of site, but we took 3 teenagers and they loved it. There was so much for them to do - a funfair with dodgems, waltzers, crazy golf, go karting, abseiling, peddle boats & so much more. They do charge for these activities but they aren't overpriced.
We found the warden to be friendly and helpful, the toilets clean and warm - we never had to queue.
Only two negative issues:
First, they could do with a bit more lighting at night. Round by the go kart area, which you have to pass to get to the touring site, it is very poorly lit.
Second, we didn't like the idea of the car being parked in front of the caravan, on the road, we would much prefer to park it down the side, out of the way. There were lots of children, some very young (almost too young to be out alone) and they were riding bikes between the cars and caravans and one child colided with our caravan. She wasn't hurt, there was no damage to the caravan, but if she had fallen the other way, she would have hit the car and caused some damage. I don't think this would have happened if the cars were parked down the side of the caravans.
All in all, we would recommend this site. Having paid just over £60.00 for 4 nights for up to 6 people on a superior pitch, with awning, ehu, entertainment passes, 2 cars & 1 dog (£3.00 per night for the dog) we think it was very good value.

This was our second time to Primrose Valley and clearly the money is still being spent as I cannot fault the site at all.
A lot of people moan about Haven as it's expensive. Well anywhere can be if you want to spend it - you dont have to if you don't want to so why knock them for being a commercial business. People need to remember that this is not a field with pitches, this is a fully fledged holiday resort with touring pitches and therefore needs to make money.
A lot of the stuff though is free, all the kids entertainment is free, the swimming pool which is fantastic is free, the evening entertainment is all free if you dont get drunk on the town centre price beer. If you take you own food and dont do take aways every night then its cheap.
Down to the site - we stayed on the standard water and waste provided site on concrete flat pitches - absolutely great. Plugged in the whale mains water and put the extended waste pipe on and bingo - no water butts or waste to change. Brilliant. Already hassle free.
The site as nice and quiet, this site, unlike Thorpe Park is a nice distance away from the main bit so its peaceful on a night. Yes it is a 20 minute walk but we used the car most nights to the main complex.
The main complex has everything, a mini-supermarket with most stuff you need at co-op style prices - no tesco prices here but there is one in Scarborough about 30 minutes away.
There is now a Starbucks on site which is nice, a pub/cafe place, chippy and a burger king in the main entertainment complex. The entertainment complex has 2 main rooms, one was closed as low season. The main room is for families and has the usual dancing bears and stuff - which is fine and kids love it.
The main bit is right next to the beach so you can quickly get there for walking the dogs.
The entertainment is butlins style all day stuff. Its a good idea if you have kids to read the brochure you get as there is lots to do from around 9am - like making things, dancing, story time and all sorts of kids stuff for all ages. Its easy to miss the good stuff and its all free.
The teddy bears picnic needs to be pre-booked but is nice for little kids as you get a packed lunch for £3.50 and eat it with the characters and then get a story as well as a disco. The funstars as the red coats are called were great and always had a smile - a little annoying but they are paid to entertain and the kids love em too.
Facilities were incredibly clean, in fact better than most club sites. The warden was a guy who did his job well and made you feel welcome and kept his eye on everything. There wasnt many there yet still inspected everything - good man.
If you want gas and stuff you need to go to main reception, pay for it then they'll radio him to get you one.
Yes it CAN be expensive but you need to be disciplined - where else can you get £20 deals for 4 nights out of season with everything laid on. For families and young couples - give it a try out of season when its cheap and you may enjoy it!

Ive just come back after having 4 nights at this so called flagship site and what a disapointment it was.We arrived at 11.15 ish and had to wait until 1.30ish to get on our pitch which was soden, the toilet and showers were freezing and dirty in the time we were there I saw the cleaner once. The pithches as mentioned in other reviews were quite spacious. We went in the showbar only to find people sitting in there hats and coats as it was so cold. The walk to the complex is a good 15 mins. Maybe it was the wrong time of year to go but you would expect everything to be up and running. Its a site I wont be going back to I think I will stick to marton mere
