We stayed here for 4 days at the end of June and had fantastic time! The pitches were a really good size (we was on a luxury pitch, but they all looked good!, the touring part was always really clean and the warden was very friendly and helpful. The site was full but with 6 showers available you was never waiting for one! They were also very clean and tidy all times of day. The only thing that was a bit of a pain was it was so far away from the in complex. About a 20 min walk with little ones. We ended up driving up to it, but I can imagine that in the summer holidays you may have trouble parking. If you have young kids make sure you have plenty of money with you.Rory shop is a killer! We paid £35 for of us for 4 nights, a definate bargain!

We spent two weeks here for a weekend in April. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay although a bit steep on the bank account. The weekend only cost approx. £15.00 a night, but the with three kids and the night time entertainment the cost does add up. The pitches were good, level concrete pitches for the van and parking to the front for the car. Electric hookup, shared water and a drainage point to each van. Plenty of space between pitches. There was a new toilet and shower block was a good size and immaculate and clean. There is a funfair, sports area, a bar and playground next to the touring field. Main complex is about 20mins walk away, with a new swimming pool which the children enjoyed. We will probably go back later in the season.

This site advertises super pitches but whats super about them? The price!nothing else. The site is a long level road with a loop at the end and pitches each side of the road. Concrete hardstandings are provided to stop the caravans sinking into the deep mud. Yes there is an electric hook up for each van a waste emptying point and a shared water tap.
On one side of the camp is a main road the other side a fairground with constant music blairing out all day. At the bottom of the site is the storeage depot for calor gas to service the 2500 static caravans on site consequentley lorries and tractor/trailers are belting up and down the site all day replenishing stocks. This along with other site traffic was a constant danger to children no road humps to slow down the traffic.
It had rained the day before we arrived and the pitch was waterlogged due to very poor drainage making impossible to use the awning as this flooded. Pools of standing water were on the roadway and lapping onto the pitches. The toilet block was no more than a porta cabin and two of the three showers in both gents and ladies were not working. The block was filthy had not been cleaned for two days. When complained about this was told that the cleaner was on holiday!and anyway a new toilet block would be in place next season. The chemical emptying point was also blocked and in a disgusting state.
There is no convience shop on the touring site this meant a twenty miute walk to the main complex or entertaiment centre go in the car where do you park? The kiddies playground was fairly well equiped but next to the fairground where the rides were expensive- ok if you have a large bank account. At night lighting on the site was non existant and therefore a walk in the dark to the toilet block. The swimming pool was new but in the main complex miles away so was the beach. The could not care attitude by Haven staff was dissapointing.

July 2005 Just a note to members with trailer tents / folding campers and tents. Check first because they no longer take bookings for any of the above, only touring caravans.

March 2005 Site is currently being updated and new swimming complex being built for opening in June this year. They are far from this deadline. The whole campsite is covered in mud. The static caravans have more mud than grass in between them where cars are being driven around to get to the individual caravans. The caravans themselves have hardly any pathways leading to them so be prepared and take your wellies!!
The touring site has recently been updated and the areas for putting your awnings had recently been re-turfed ontop of rubble and other turf and were totally water logged, making the awning unuseable. The ground sheet was saturated within minutes of putting it down. Every pitch was the same. The toilet blocks were dirty and inadequate for the number of pitches. In both the ladies and gents toilets only two out of the three showers were working the five days we were there. On the entrance to the touring pitch it just looked like a building site and we coluldn't believe our eyes, what had we come to. In our opinion they should have kept the site closed until all works were completed.
The swimming pool, tennis courts, fair and boating lake were all close the touring area, however the clubs and shops were at the other end of the site and with all the mud it was easier to drive rather than walk. However on a good note the beer was cheaper than other sites we've been on.

April 2005 We have just come back and all loved it. I think the touring site is brand new for this year. All hard standing with own electric/waste. Immaculate toilets. This is the only break we have had where the car was parked up on first day and never used again. Stayed on park all time. Very cheesy site, but we found that if the kids were happy then everyone was happy. Free swimming and adventure playground. Quite a treck to clubhouse (take a buggy for younger ones) Hi de Hi style camp with kids entertainment then cabaret for adults. Food not upto much, although Burger King ok. Costcutter supermarket was actually cheaper than our corner shop.

End Oct 2003 Visited last week of the season, school holiday week. Couldn't park the car next to the caravan as the ground was too muddy, parked on the carpark, which had CCTV, car was fine the full week. Site was quiet on the night. Take plenty of money and don't have Sunday lunch, unless you mind waiting an hour in a queue, staff very slow, but maybe that was because it was the last week of the season. Plenty of security in the complex.

April 2003 We spent 2 nights at the tourer site. As with most Haven before July they have special offers on, so for 2 nights, 2 adults,1 child and electric £25. The pitch was hard standing and big enough. So far so good. The walk to the main entertainment from the tourer site goes on and on although an expencive fun fair is close by. I can only say for our weakend, but most of the people on the tourer part were utter scum! We walked all the way to the bars, but we were the only ones that did. I saw 3 cars packed full, adults and kids with drivers hardly able to stand up! Once back to the caravans it was party time, kids of to bed so music on untill 2am. When visiting toilet block why walk when you can drive your Shogun as fast as it will go? (They drive much faster when you have spent all night drinking!) Why empty your waste in the correct way when an empty pitch is close by? why speak when you can scream? That was our first night. The next day at 7am I had a walk down for a shower, I walked back and used the caravans shower, the place had crap all over the place, some of it had dog paw prints in it! They were cleaned at 8am but we never used them after that! The night night was a repeat of privious night. Next day I was on the road by 9am. It seamed like 3 gangs of 2 to 3 families were to blame, so it might be ok other times.

2001 We spent a week here in 2001 and hated every minute of it. It was the first time we'd gone to a site like this and didn't really know what to expect, realised it would be a bit busy but great for the kids. Paid £400 for a static caravan (which itself was very nice) but it was parked right next to the main path to and from the pub. Every night we were woken by drunken foul mouthed louts. We ended up spending as little time as possible there and ate out most nights. Went back to Edinburgh two days early. Never again!

August 2002 Huge Haven site of statics (where we stayed) with a separate section for tourers. Statics very close together and very very noisy late into the night with sloshed people walking past the caravans shouting and screaming - when I went to complain to reception they weren't in the slightest bit surprised! When the brochure said 'all action' I didn't realise they meant at 3 am! There didn't appear to be a warden in the static bit at least. The tourers are right at the edge of the park so it might well be much quieter there. Lovely swimming pools, but heaving, and why did they have to shut every two hours (for an hour)? Lots of activities, but expensive. Bar prices stunning - 3 appletises (for kids) cost £5.40!! Guess who won't be going back?
