This is our third visit to this campsite and we can not fault it. It is perfect for families with children. The staff are friendly and helpful keeping the facilities clean and tidy and checking that rules are being adhered to for the benefit of everyone. There is a an outdoor pool and two play areas plus table tennis and outdoor games. The shop is well stocked with a takeaway facility. The site is close to a lot of attractions. We love it here and would recommend it.

Just back to Glasgow after lovely 4 day / 3 night break at Adgestone with Mrs and the teenage Heeds. First time on the Isle of Wight and the site. We had a lovely time, our only complaint was that we were just getting comfy, when we had to leave! We could easily have stayed another couple of days at least there.
First impressions - lovely site, clean, tidy. Very nice welcome. Pitch selection perfect. John showed us to a space near football field / frisbee space as requested on the booking form, found a lovely spot with lots of morning shade and evening light. Didn't have hookup, we're all readers. Ice blocks are available for coolboxes for 50p a freeze with a refundable deposit, Couldn't be bothered cooking the first night so went for lazy option of burgers etc from site shop. Their burgers and sandwiches are simple but good, as are their breakfast rolls. Didn't use the pool myself, but kids liked it. Only open till 7pm though. Excellent covered and floodlit semi-outdooor table tennis table. Playpark facilities good for kids to around 12 but not much here for teenagers. Good campsite-sized (5 a side size?) football pitch
There are lots of (harsh?) reviews on here complaining about shower / toilet blocks but they are clearly in the middle of upgrading these. We were quite a distance away from the main (reception) block, so used the facilities near the plying field, these had been recently repainted and we found them to be very clean and tidy. Showers great too, unlimited quick hot water, and having fresh flowers in the loo block is a lovely touch. Possibly we were spoilt because we were lucky - the site was very quiet for July. I can imagine that if the site were full (it is a very large site, at maybe 10 percent occupancy when we were there) there would be quite a strain on the showers in particular. We didn't use laundry either, so can't comment on that.
Location is pretty good. We're used to waterside campsites, either sea or lochs, so was a bit more inland than our usual. We took bikes and it's a simple ride from the site into Sandown then Shanklin, or a slightly longer but very doable family ride into Newport and back. V close to the round island cycle route, if you're looking for a base to do that. We didn't do nearly enough, too busy doing a lot of chilling out, reading and lazing about, but thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. We preferred the East side to the West - Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are lovely places to while away an hour or three in the sunshine, The Needles a huge (or rather, tiny), disappointment.
Nice, chilled clientele, clean, tidy site, nice toilets. Lovely staff, good location. We'd certainly go back if going back to IoW. Can't see that happening in a hurry, but if we did, Adgestone would definitely be in the mix.

Visited Adgestone site 7th to 21st June 2015
Fantastic site, site bend over backwards to help you
Campers were all very friendly
I have a large Fifth Wheeler 42 foot in total with truck, John the site manager guided me in with no problem. Don't be frightened of the narrow lanes as there are plenty of passing places, if I can get my unit in you will get most outfits in.
We will probably go each year now
On a personal note thanks John and all tour staff, you made us feel most welcome
Kindest regards
Harry Clarke

Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely visit again! The staff are all friendly, although the manager did give the impression that he was running an army camp at times! That said, he does a great job of keeping the site well maintained and in top order. The Squirrel cafe is fantastic; the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. As for the food, the quality is superb and is fantastic value (it's worth visiting the site just for the cafe)! Overall this is a lovely, quiet site and we had a lovely time. Sadly, there are just a couple of little niggles that could do with revising! The shower & toilet block is a little 'tired' and needs a good re-vamp. There needs to be more cubicles as I imagine there would be constant queues when the site is full. Also, we were very disappointed to find that, despite the lovely warm weather, the site management would not open the pool. It was explained that this was to do with staffing, as a lifeguard is required at all times. We understand if this is indeed the case, but surely arrangements should be made to ensure full cover of the facilities being advertised. The only other thing to be aware of is, DO NOT FOLLOW A SAT NAV! We can't stress this enough! We made that very mistake and ended up in some very tight spots, before eventually having to do an incredibly difficult about turn on a farm courtyard. This was bad enough with our small 2 berth caravan, but anything larger would certainly have had major problems. We recommend following the Sandown road and turning left as you pass through Lake (the site is signposted). This is by far the simplest way to get there, although be aware that there are a few speed bumps to negotiate! Don't be put off by the minor cons, as the pros definitely outweigh them. This is definitely a site worth visiting, and we certainly will do so again!

Nice site let down by the toilet blocks. Wardens are great site is clean and tidy.
I couldn't recommend staying here with the old tired cobwebs filled shower blocks, only 6showers for the chaps for such a big site also isn't enough. The shower blocks need striping out a proper ceiling and door put in. Showers where the the entire floor doesn't get soaked would be nice. I expect better from a c&c site really.
If they get the toilet sorted though it would be an 7 or 8 site.

Spacious site, but beware the duck and geese poo if you are camping in one of the lower fields. Plenty of shade from the trees and hedges, also allows privacy.
Showers and toilets were clean, tidy and worked adequately, although quite a long walk if you were busting, from the lower fields!
Washing machine worked well, took 30 mins, cost £3. 50. Didn't use pool, swam in the sea instead!
Access roads made it slightly hazardous returning to the site, particularly at dusk and when meeting a caravan coming in the opposite direction. Would probably look at other sites on the Isle of Wight for our next visit.
Isle of Wight itself is brilliant.

The actual site is very nice and clean and people that run it very nice. Unfortunately the swimming pool was closed when we come, but was told it would be opening about july due to the fact that new health and safety laws required a lifeguard from now on, and it was taking time to train people up. Even without the swimming pool it was still a great site with a well stocked shop that even sold takeaways. The roads going to the site were a bit of a squeeze even for a trailer tent so I would think would be even more of a challenge for a large caravan although that was just probably my lack of experience at towing. Found the staff very helpful. The toilet and shower blocks were clean and well maintained. About a 10 min drive through tight roads to the nearest off site shops. I Will be back next year to try the pool out!

A very good site this !
Good points- grass well cared for. Wardens friendly and helpful. Good for on site coarse fishing. On site shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. Swimming pool is excellent. Other campers are considerate (staff wouldn't allow any anti social behaviour at all).
Ferry crossing from Lymington is only 35 mins. Pitch fees are competitive. Pitch sizes are good. Children's playground facilities are great. Lots of other children for yours to play with.
Toilets are adequate, nothing special, but they do the job. , there is always plenty of hot water.
Bad points- the island itself was a big let down.
It is old and tired and seems stuck in some kind of 1970/80's timewarp.
It is not as pretty as other parts of the country and seems to be suffering from a distinct lack of investment.
Sandown is literally on its last legs but Shanklin is ok and we played the new crazy golf there which was fab.
The isle of wight is a great place to meet other OAP'S, if that's your intention.
Wish this site was in another part of the country.
Ps - try a meal at the fighting cocks pub-absolutely fab !

I would highly recommend the Adgestone site particularly for families with children. The site has a lovely heated outdoor pool, two good park areas, a fishing lake, a table tennis room and an area with outdoor games such as Jenga and bowls. The site is buzzing with happy, entertained children who can run around and play freely. The site has a well stocked shop with fresh food and a good takeaway. The staff are very friendly and helpful; nothing seems too much trouble. They work hard, regularly checking the site facilities are clean and maintained. The site is quiet at night which enables everyone to have a peaceful sleep. The site is ideally situated for exploring the island. There are good beaches locally, two zoos and a dinosaur museum all worth a visit. Entrance prices are quite reasonable and often allow a return visit later in your stay. We had a lovely holiday. This is our second visit to the site and we will definitely go back.

What a lovely site!
Access to the site is best by going towards Sandown and taking a left towards a school after Morrisons - other routes could be a clutch destroyer if towing (ignore your Sat Nav)
The site is very well maintained. On every visit to the toilet block (which was often given I have children of ages 6, 4 and 2) they were always clean. The showers are amazing - warm and powerful. Pot washing facilities were always spotless.
We all enjoyed the swimming pool and the children had great fun on the play areas.
Pitches are large and catered for our large tent well. Looking around the campsite, everyone was well catered for; from those with small tents up to large motorhomes towing a smaller vehicle.
Like all C&C sites, the staff are friendly and polite and thanks for having us.
