On a five site stop week in Cornwall this was significantly the worse I stayed at, perhaps a bad choice on my part as I prefer a more traditional campsite.
Upon arrival on a quiet Sunday in May, with the reception closed I was informed by a sign to pitch where I liked, so chose a nice seaview, which was partly blocked by the ugly chalet type blocks that make up most of the site. The camping pitches are at the back of the site, sloping and a bit untidy, i. E. Once there were semi-hardstanding bases that have long since half disappeared.
The toilets were fine, clean with good warm showers, the reception block and bar area all looked a bit old with a sort of strange, western, ponderosa type feel and although the bar was closed I was not disappointed as it did not look my cup of tea.
The majority of the site is taken up by small apartments in large blocks that appear very basic and the construction so uninspiring and bland that it’s difficult to say when they were built, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s, take your pick? They are obviously the bread and butter of this site and as a camper you feel a little like an intruder.
My main gripe however, is that in the morning when paying for my two nights I was told that I’d have to move as the pitch I was on was booked for that night, I understand if someone has requested a pitch that they’d be upset, but why no note in the window for when I had arrived to say stay off a certain pitch, most other sites do so in this instance. I’d have moved sites then, but as I had a nice walk planned, so grudgingly moved pitches.
Whilst Hayle is not the most picturesque, the area around Gwithian and Godrevy are really great and I counted 37 seals on a cove not far away. The views from the front of the site towards St Ives and the lighthouse are stunning and the beach and sand dunes are well worth a trek through.
I would however, definitely not stay at this site again, it’s ugly, uninviting to campers and depressing.

So this site is so good we have returned!
This time we had an electric hook up, and although it was in a handy spot for water etc, I think it must have been one of the smallest pitches, our Maritsa 700 only just fit in, and our car had to be parked right across the door, as near as possible to our guy ropes, but most other pitches are a very good size.
As always everywhere was clean and tidy, there have been improvements on the walk to the beach, which have made it much easier to access.
The shop is very good and the pizza from the takeaway is very recommended one between two is perfect.
Out and about we loved St Ives, eating at Hub is a must if you like a good burger. A day out in Falmouth is worth the effort and the Maritime museum is fab, and the ticket is valid for a year so you can go back.
You can walk into Hayle in 10 -15 minutes there is a footpath away from the road into the site, and a lovely walk avoiding the main road along to the Lido. Sanders fish and chips are very good, £2 gets you the biggest box of chips that feeds 2 easily.
The one thing this site would benefit from would be a toilet block at the top end of the camping field.

Just returned from a wonderful 7 nights on this site. It was the week after half term so very quiet but my two boys aged 9 and 6 had a ball here. Our pitch (3) had a great sea view. The showers and toilets were amazing- clean, modern, just perfect. Toilets seemed to be cleaned several times throughout the day.
We really enjoyed the football pitch and goals down near the beach and the playground here is great too.
Beach is fabulous and within walking distance of the site but the climb back up is pretty steep. Lifeguards on duty too.
Lots of wild rabbits around which the kids loved watching and
They didn't cause us any problems.
Lovely washing up area - always clean and tidy.
The drive up to the site is long and steep and mostly single track with passing places but no problems with our camper van.
The shop was ok, quite limited in what food was sold but ok for emergencys as there was a Lidl just down the road.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful and the kids loved the outdoor pool.
Had a great time here and it will be on our list of sites to return to.

Lovely scenery and nice site. My only disappointment was the toilet in the tent area was used by Men/Ladies which I feel very disgusted, , don't know why. Another thing was one of the locks was not very secure and one time I was using it on our first day, someone who I think was desperate for a toilet and just forcefully opened it and there I was sitting on the throne! So, since then I went to the one near the reception which is like 10 mins walk from our tent and that was for 3 days, morning, afternoon and night time, good exercise though!
Overall, , nice but would recommend another site better than this. I think I was spoiled with site in Castle Douglas with the view to die for

Booked in advanced but could only get a non electric pitch. Had stayed here before but in a bungalow and many years ago.
What can I say, had a fab time, the beach is wonderful, although the walk back is not for the faint hearted, shower block was brand new with good size showers with a separate changing area in each one, toilets cleaned regularly during the day.
The pizza from the shop is fab and can be ordered to be delivered to the bar so if you are having a drink you can order it and then take it back to your tent/caravan. Staff are very helpful and friendly, a super clean site.
In fact we had such a good time we bought a new tent and have booked for summer 2014.

We've just returned from a week at Beachside and our first ever week in our TT.
What a site, the staff were friendly, the pitches were a good size and they let us on to the pitch even though we were 6 hours early.
The facilities were modern and kept really clean, the kids loved the supervised heated pool and we were a five minute walk from the beach.
A little pricey from others, but I guess you get what you pay for £290 for a week for 3 adults and 2 children.
Showers were HOT and modern, and they were always clean.
Only downside were the other campers. I mean, who poops on the toilet seat and then leaves it there??! Come on people, have some courtesy.
Oh, and expect a queue for the showers at peak times.

First time camping ever at 51 yrs. Got to Cornwall and as most sites were full, had to take this one which btw had one pitch left. At £37. 50 a night I thought it was pricey but the facilities reflect the price I guess. Clean toilets and shower blocks, shop which sold everything you could possibly need I reckon, and the freshly cooked pain au chocolates were a delight for breakfast with a cup of tea, I have since got a travel kettle for a cuppa.
Pool was nicely heated clean and supervised, there were numerous other facilities we didn't get to use as we were only there 3 days and was visiting my sister who lives in Hayle, would have liked to use the French boules court. The beach was short path away. Would use this site again. Oh and all the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Spent May 2013 half term week here. Polite helpful staff. Well maintained site.
New toilets cleaned several times a day. Lovely hot showers. (Looks like they were refurbished for 2013. )
Nice bar although 3. 80 for a pint of lager a bit steep. Entertainment good in bar that week and could easily get a table. Kids welcome in bar too.
Kids spent time in small playgrounds which were clean and safe.
Pitches very good and as we asked for a site near toilets and showers were pleased to be allocated large pitch within yards of toilet block.
Beach close-by was fantastic even though a bit windy that week. (Perhaps the final few yards down to the beach are a bit arduous for people with walking problems) Very safe paddling for kids and lifeguards always in view on their quad bikes.
All in all a lovely quiet and clean quality site at reasonable prices that I would return to and will recommend to others. Highly recommended.

We went back!
Just returned from a 4 day trip to Beachside again. We had 2 tent pitches and a bungalow.
Really enjoyed our stay yet again.
We were very lucky with the weather.
My last review of this site mentioned the toilets and washing up facilities as possibly inadequate for peak season, but guess what?! There are now all new facilities.
The showers and toilets have been totally refurbished to a very high standard. The washing up area has now 8 sinks in a designated room, which is perfect!
The bungalow was clean and tidy with fabulous panoramic sea views.
My only criticism now is that the play area could do with a little tlc as the slide is a bit rough at the bottom.
Otherwise another amazing visit, we'll go back again!

We had an amazing holiday at Beachside. We camped for 10 nights in Sept and were lucky enough to have glorious weather. We took 3 children under 3 and went to the beach everyday.
The campsite is very clean and tidy, although the shower and toilet blocks are slightly outdated. The only criticisms I have are that there are only 5 showers in the ladies and 4 washing up sinks for the campers. We went off peak and it was lovely and quiet, but I imagine you must queue for a shower in peak busy times.
The play areas are great, but just need a little refurbishment as they look worn out!
The pool was great, but we only went in it once as spent all our time at the beach.
The beach is AMAZING. I come from Cornwall originally and think that this is one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in the county. The walk down to the beach is good, although a bit of a trek with the pushchair back up the sand dunes, but totally do-able.
In my opinion this is a great value site with a fab location and we would definitely return.
