We stayed at Beachside at the end of April (slightly out of season) and this is how we found our stay.
Location: 10/10
15 mins in the car to the beautiful St Ives.
Hayle beach at the bottom of the site which is huge with views of Carbis bay and St Ives.
In Hayle itself you have a few nice shops, and pubs, a supermarket and a playground.
Staff: 9/10
Very helpful and friendly
Tent Pitches: 6/10
Phoned up prior to arrival to check pitch availability as we have a large tent. Staff friendly and told us that they have plenty of space and pitches are plenty big enough.
Upon arrival staff were very helpful. Allocated us pitch 87 right at the top, which was unsuitable to pitch on as it was full of rabbit holes, too small for our tent and uneven ground. None of the non electric pitches were suitable for us as most were too small or uneven. So we asked to pay a little extra for an electric pitch as these seemed to be better. Lady was very nice and allocated us 51 at no extra charge. This was ideal pitch for the tent and us as it was close to all amenities.
Try and select your pitch when you get there as you may find it hard to pitch on some with a big tent and you may end up next to a pylon which buzzes and may wake you or children at night.
Be prepared for the wind as it is set within dunes and right on the coast.
Toilets & Showers: 5/10
Small, dark and dated, but clean enough.
Not far from hook up pitches but a little walk from non hook ups especially in the night!
Water and washing up facility's: 7/10.
Dated but perfectly suitable.
Entertainment, shop, bar: -/10
Not open during our stay
Value for money 10/10
Very well priced pitches
9 pound per night non hook up
12 pounds per night for hook up pitches
Overall not a bad stay. Would return in the future mainly because of location.

On arrival the site looked as expected with a few campers pitched and quite a few more caravans.
We were welcomed by the reception staff and after a little confusion with our booking we were given our pitch number and advised where to go.
Pitch 11 with electric.
The pitch was easy to find but not clear where it began and ended. We had some trouble pitching the tent as the ground was very soft and because of the wind it made it hard to get the tent pegged down.
We stayed for two nights and on the first night we were battered by the wind and rain (not the sites fault) it was not a nice experience. Saying that we (and the tent) survived and woke up to a lovely view the next morning.
The facilities were ok, although the cubicles were on the small side. I would not be able to take my 3yr old in the there and be able to close the door.
We had breakfast from the cafe which was lovely and not to badly priced. The shop was well stocked but as we were visiting family we did not need to use the other facilities.
Overall if the weather had of been better it would have a pleasent stay.

We spent 9 nights camping at this site and loved the site and surrounding area. The staff were friendly and helpful, the toilets adequate when we were there and showers lovely and hot (although a bit too hot for my 3 year old). We used the pool quite a lot but mostly enjoyed the fabulous beach and playing hours of ball games at our pitch and in the playing field.
One issue we encountered which was weather related was wind which damaged our tent and meant we needed to leave for a night. Although we couldn't get any refunds, staff were helpful in suggesting tent supplies and allowed us to choose a more sheltered pitch when we returned the following day.
Would agree that drinks were overpriced in the bar and we only visited on our first night due to this.
If you want beachside camping then the location in the dunes was first class. It is also quite spacious in the non elec pitches - the site wasn't full but had a good number of campers but the separation of pitches within the dunes meant you weren't crowded.
I can't wait to make another visit despite the weather challenges

We stayed here from late June to early July on pitch 54 non ehu (dreaded pylon) and pitch 33 ehu a slight slope.
We had a problem pitching here at first and other people said they have had problems too especially with booking and pitching.
The pitches - Could be better some good and some not so good, a couple are at a sloping angle so avoid the pitches above 33 if you can help it, from then on its all right when you get higher. Try and avoid 54 and 55 at all costs, these should be offered at a discount due to that dreaded pylon unless like me you were used to listening to buzzing from the World Cup on TV, also shame about the ants. 5/10
The beach - excellent beach say no more and the walk down was not too bad once you got used to it and you can drive so far down. 10/10
The view - Really nice especially at night with Carbis bay and St Ives all lit up. 9/10
The toilets, showers etc - Not the best ones I have been to and let the place down I feel. With the washing up area its worse and that is because there is no proper path way as such. The signs need to be clearer. 4/10
Tap and bin locations - Again I feel they need better signs as many of people asked where they were including my self and I feel there needs to be more taps as well as another toilet and shower block for those with out hook up. 5/10
The bar and games room - Not bad and it had many windows to watch the views; shame the price of bear was more on the expensive side. I liked the TV room bit. I must add that this area has free internet and its own booth down stairs, which is a big bonus plus. 7/10
For eating and shopping - We had food here and although a little pricey it was nice. We never really used the shop but to find the cafe in the shop was baffling at first because there is not really a sign telling you where to go. 8/10
The price to camp - It was £11 none hook up and £13 with hook up. About average but you do get a little extra with the view, the pool and the internet, making camping on the value side. Not so good when we left as the price went up to £20 for none hook up and £26 with. 7/10
The Pool - At first it did not seem that warm and I dislike cold water but after several attempts to get in I found it to be ok and not that cold in the end. Overall a nice pool. 8/10
The area and camp site location - Hayle offers free parking, there is a park near by, a supermarket, it has bus routes and it is soon to get a 3d cinema. Don't forget to visit the bakery in town too. The campsite location is a little off the Beaten track but is walk able via a steep hill, it is set amongst sand dunes and has an abundance of wild life including snakes. The beach is next to the campsite and if you’re lucky you can hear the tide. The down side is when the weather is bad it is really bad as we found out.
St Ives, Carbis bay, Penzance, Marazion, Lands end etc are with in easy reach of this campsite and it is quite well sign posted just from the A30. We parked up at Carbis bay and caught the bus to St Ives from then on the open top 300 to Lands end. 10/10
The play ground and field - These are visible from the main camping area so you can keep an eye on the younger ones and both areas quite well kept but I would not trust children on their own as there is a steep drop below. The pay area was getting a lick of paint before I left and it is fenced in despite the drop. 6/10
The staff - I found the staff to be mostly friendly, talkative and they made you feel welcome. 8/10
The chalets - The seemed all right and most had a sea view. 7/10
The people who go here - Mostly nice people and willing to help and have a chat. 8/10
No pets - this was a minus especially with people who wanted to camp with pets. 2/10
The sum up - Beach side could be so much better, with out the niggles bits which are the toilets, showers and washing up area to some extent, it needs more level pitches and a cheaper pitch for the pylon but if you can live with this and pick a certain time of year to visit you could find your self a little gem of a place to stay.
Would I stay here again? If it was not so far away and next time not having a problem with pitching then yes, otherwise I may be tempted to find somewhere a little closer to home at the Midlands. But we would still like to visit here again sometime in future. All in all I would give this place 7/10
One thing I did not like was the fact that we had to leave a day early due to my friend being ill and they would not give me a refund for the night I was not going to be staying at and that is one reason why it loses marks. As they could have easily filled the pitch after we had gone and give us some money back.

Just got back from a wonderful weeks holiday in beachside, and I would go so far to say it has to be the best campsite I have been on in the south west!
Beautiful location overlooking the sea and St Ives, very clean toilets and showers, bar overlooking sea, lovely clean pool, well stocked shop reasonably priced, and very friendly staff.
Good pub in walking distance that does lovely food. Want to go back very soon!

This was value for money if you like a site right on the beach off the children's playing field, where you hear the surf as you fall to sleep or watch the swallows pitch and dive over the dunes, or the sea gulls cry far out to sea on a hot sunny day.
The showers are free on a timer - well stocked shop and helpful staff, with club house with entertainment at night and restaurant. We didn't sample any of this as that isn't our thing. But it never bothered us and those who did frequent didn't bother us either.
The children's field as I say is just before the beach. And has life guards on the beach too - you can see straight across to St Ives across stunning blue surf and sky. When the sun is out it is beach time and sun cream. You could not fill this beach if you tried. You can walk for miles on this beach. Stunning.
You have to visit the local pub the Bucket of Blood - really old pub and lots of facilities for families to wine and dine together and even dog friendly.
Hayle is on the door step to most of the wonders of Cornwall and this campsite despite a greater number of inhabitants of campers is little bunny rabbits to you have to watch out for the warren holes too - but all the info you receive is very helpful so you don't have any worries. Just enjoy being right on one of the most fabulous locations.

We had a week at Beachside at the beginning of August and had decided by the end of the first day that we would be back.
It is a very relaxed site with friendly and helpful staff - even opening the shop especially for us one evening when we needed matches for a BBQ on the beach. The lady in the shop didn't seem to mind the children trooping in with their spending money and picking up everything they could see!
The non-electric pitches are large and in small groups amongst the dunes rather than one large field. The facilities were basic but clean, with plenty of hot water and we never had to queue.
The children made lots of friends and there were plenty of other campers for us to chat to too.
The site is very reasonably priced and they don't add on for extras like pup tents etc - one price, all in.
The swimming pool had a lifeguard provided by the site and there were RNLI lifeguards on the beach.
Large co-op is walking distance so easy to get everything we needed.
We've booked for two weeks next year!

Myself and my Husband stayed here for a week in September. The site is really lovely and well kept. All the staff are polite, friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area.
The location of the site is great for exploring Cornwall and is right on top of the beach, which was a lovely spacious beach, with a lifeguard.
Shower and toilet facilities were always clean and showers nice and hot.
The pitches were level and well kept, although we were right underneath an electrical pylon, which made a lot of noise in the wind (bearing in mind you are on the coast so there is a breeze at least) and it also made 'frying' noise in the rain, which kept us awake on quite a few of the nights (we did have v. Bad weather though).
The pitches all have water supply (drinking and chemical disposal) very close by, I would say no more than 10m from each pitch, which is very handy
Although we didn't use the swimming pool, again appeared to be clean and also has a glass windbreaker so can be used all year round.
The shop was great, was the most well stocked shop on a campsite I've been to.
Washing up area also had a wind breaker around it which was nice.
Didn't use bar or laundrette facilities but they were there if you needed/wanted to use them.
Overall a great campsite and would go back but not at pitch 55 under the pylon!

Have just got back from a restful week at Beachside. A mixed site with tents, motorhomes, touring caravans and chalets. There is a lovely swimming pool with a lifeguard but children under 15 years old have to be supervised by an adult. Bar, games room and laundrette. Site is on a hillside and not really disabled friendly. There is a steep path down to the beach of sand so not easy for wheel chairs or push chairs but once you get down there it is excellent with lifeguard between 10am and 6pm. The shop is open until 6pm with is a little early when you have children. If you have a touring caravan or motorhome make sure you have blocks as many of the pitches are on a slope. Nearby is the local park with a great play area, tennis court and skate park/bowl (bikes etc)

Stayed here in July and we dropped on the best 2 weeks of the summer I think!
The access road to the site is single track with passing points along the way, wouldn't want to meet another outfit though coming the other way.
As you drive down towards the reception area you are met by a stunning view of the bay in front of you. The touring pitches are on your left as you drive down and levelling blocks are a must on a lot of the pitches. The shower block is on your right towards the bottom of the lane and as previously mentioned in other reviews are very basic. The swimming pool was fantastic and our 2 kids couldn't get enough of it, a real sun trap as well!
The onsite club was straight from the seventies but without the seventies prices. 3 pounds a pint all but a few pence! A little tip on that score, get in before 9pm and double or treble up on your drinks (happy hour ends at 9 and then its the full whack) I think it was about 2 pounds a pint before 9 so you can save a wad doing it that way. We only used the club 2 or 3 times during our stay and other holiday makers stayed out as well due to the high prices.
The Bucket of Blood down the road does excellent meals (get in early or book or you will have a long wait!). This pub is within easy walking distance, head back to main road, turn right and pub is about 1/2 a mile up on your right. Well worth the effort. If you do walk there and expect to be walking back in the dark, make sure you take a torch with you for the walk back down the sites access road. There is no lighting and it is very dark along it.
The site was quiet at night with plenty of bunnies running around for the kids to chase. Another thing to watch out for, divebombing seagulls when you are having a bbq! They are really fond of chicken drumsticks and circle around until the chicken is cooked to perfection! The kids play areas were not up to much, very dated but the pool made up for this and was supervised by lifeguards at all times.
The shop onsite was a bit on the expensive side, but that's par for the course on campsites. There is a co-op just down the road and an Aldi was almost completed when we were there.
All in all, this was a very good site, very good value for money (site fees), brilliant views / sunsets and not overcrowded.
Would definitely stay here again.
