We have just returned after a couple of days camping here. The service and the people are lovely and were very helpful. The site was a lot smaller than I anticipated but was laid out very nicely. Toilets and shower area were okay but could do with a little updating as could the games room but still nice to have close by when it rains. The swimming pool was lovely and clean, water a little cold but very nice once in. We had hoped that there would be a little more space (felt a bit hemmed in) and felt even more so uncomfortable when on our second night new campers arrived near by and were very very loud. At a quarter to one in the morning we had to ask them to be quiet as we felt that laughing constantly at the top of your voice at that time was really not on. On top of that they allowed their children to play football outside our tent whilst we were eating even though space was limited and had a dog off of the lead (even though signs did state that all dogs should be on a lead). It was not pleasant to find dog mess around your tent and was concerned that the children would bring it in - especially at night when you couldn't see very well. They brought the dog into the shower room and the kitchen area. We spoke to the owner, who was very understanding and in turn spoke to them. Our next night was a lot quieter but we were still left with dog mess around the tent. The pub is not within a short walking distance and there are not any facilities that you can walk to outside the campsite. I understand that they can't help it if other campers are not very respectful but as the campsite is quite small then perhaps they should be more aware of pets wandering around (especially when they have been told) and deal with it. This is a nice site but probably better for couples with a caravan who visit outside school holidays.

Just returned from this site, pool spot on, toilet s and showers were ok water always hot but do need updating soon, found ourselves on a inner pitch which was ok but for most of the day was in shade due to the tree canopies, would suggest thinning the trees out a little wasted all that lovely sun. Ideal for the west Somerset steam railway but quite expensive. About half hour to the sea nearest supermarket about 15 mins

This must be my most disappointing caravan experience.
I booked by telephone after an internet search which seemed positively great for the Easter weekend.
On arrival we were not met I found a scruffy piece of paper in the 'shop' window with some hand written directions to my plot. By 'shop' I mean hut with NO provisions available. Throughout our four night stay we saw nothing of any management! The 'showers' consisted of two units one of which had NO shower head. The pool was closed and covered so unusable, hardly as represented on its web page
An all in all thoroughly forgettable experience

Well. I can only echo the remarks of others regarding the welcome and good facilities at this site, excellent in all directions. While we were there there was maintenance going on in preparation for the coming season and the gents was being painted etc, we were told and shown the alternative solution, a toilet, basin etc in the laundry. A bonus as this was heated at the time. All in very good repair and cleanness.
We could see a children's playground which looked very good, and fitted in well with the high standard of landscaping. There seemed to be a high number of season pitches taken which on reflection I can see why they like this site. A really good location for day trips throughout Somerset be it beaches or more inland areas like cheddar caves etc. all within an hour or so drive at the longest, possibly 30 mins for a choice of beach.
We also thought the prices were very reasonable.
Yes we will return to this site.

Recently stayed at this site for 2 nights. When we arrived we had a choice of 3 pitches. We couldn't get tv signal on the first pitch, so the following day the warden said to try a different one, but unfortunately the electric hook up didn't work on this second pitch! The site is clean, didn't use the toilet block so cant comment.
One thing I will say is that the warden is so helpful at this site, one of the best I have experienced! Didnt meet the owners, only the owners son who was friendly. Steam railway station a short walk away worth a look!
I also feel that its slightly over priced for whats on offer, but just personal opinion
While this is a good campsite, I probably wouldn't stay here for a long length of time, probably due to not much being in walking distance!

Just back from a 5 night stay at Quantock, and our fourth year visiting this site.
As always the site was well maintained and the staff friendly and approachable.
The site was filled to capacity every day but the toilets were clean and cleaned everyday, the showers were a bit hit and miss but I think it's because the site was full and there were a lot of campers using the facilities.
No problems with the electric tripping out while we were there, and almost every pitch was electric.
Pool was open and the kids were in it, even when it was raining!
The steam railway at Crowcombe is a 3/4 mile walk away and the staff there go out of there way to share there experience of how the railway works - make sure you visit the signal box, very informative and we got to change the points and signals and the cakes are yummy in the buffet room!
It's always a pleasure to go back to Quantock and just wanted to say 'thank you' and see you next time.

The good points - lovely, well kept site, well thought out to create an individual pitch feeling, lots of pretty shrubs and trees, birds galore.
Nice spot ideal for walking and for the pretty station at Crowcombe Heathfield.
Toilets are fairly dated but were always clean and the showers were hot and powerful.
The not so good points - we arrived to camp on a very cold and damp Friday evening, meeting up with friends. They had been told off for using a heater in their tent as apparently it had caused the electrics to trip. We were told by a chap that we were not to use heaters - we were not impressed as the weather was extremely cold and we felt that at £27. 50 per night we should not be sat in our tent cold and damp. We checked our heater and it was a lower wattage than our kettle which was fine and so we used our heater all weekend. The chap did apologise later but it put our friends off using their heater and felt cold all weekend. Their electrics kept tripping all weekend - even without the heater and all they were using was a light and an electric coolbox.
On the Saturday after a day out we arrived to find the campsite full of teenagers on a Duke of Edinburgh weekend - hats off to them for doing it but they were not quiet (as you would expect) - their curfew was 10pm and they made the most of it up to then! They woke very early and the noise began. Most people on site were not happy and we all agreed that we should have been informed on booking that a DofE Group was booked in.
Also, the swimming pool was a big attraction for our little group but was not open - the fees went up from the beginning of May to include the pool so perhaps if it is not open then a small refund could be offered?
Unfortunately despite it being a very pretty site we probably won't return, if they don't want people to use heaters they should say on the website and the DoE Group were too noisy - when you are paying top whack at £27. 50 per night. We expect an all round excellent experience.

Management response: One member of this party's heater was wired incorrectly and when you have other guests on site you can not allow them to keep tripping the electrics. It becomes frustrating when you have to reset the electrics in excess of ten times despite identifying the problem. We welcome heaters at our campsite but not when they are wired incorrectly.
The pool is never open for the first May bank holiday as the weather is not always favourable; our tariff went up for the bank holiday not because our pool would be open.
The DOE group booked only a couple of hours before arrival in an emergency, due to the floods at a nearby campsite, therefore we could not inform any of our guest prior to arrival as we were not aware of the booking ourselves. It was not ideal but we did not want 80 children with nowhere to stay. We are disappointed they were ‘noisy’ but we are in the hands of the teachers to ensure they are well behaved. We did position the children in a separate field to ensure disturbance was at a minimum. |

When we arrived, the site was clean, well maintained & quiet, as we were one of only a few visitors there.
The shop / office was locked, but the owner came to show us our pitch. We weren't given any info about the site or facilities, however when we needed blocks for our caravan, the owner's son was friendly & quick to oblige. There was an older gentleman at work on the site, who was also friendly & helpful.
There were 4 showers for each sex in the toilet block, and one of the ladies showers was in need of a new rail/head, as it was loose & leaking.
Once the site filled up on Friday night (of a bank holiday weekend), we started to worry that the facilities were inadequate for the number of guests, then when a noisy 'school group' (of at least 30) arrived on Saturday, we decided to relocate to a different site.
Lovely surrounding area, local steam railway & tourist attractions.

Having spent several weeks at quantock orchard caravan park, we were very impressed with the site and facilities. The owners being very friendly and helpful, always on hand helping the campers, tending the gardens,Painting and refurbishing the site. Working long hours to keep the park looking lovely. The chidrens play area with brightly coloured swings and slides to the beautiful and fully equipped Gym, sauna, steam room. The son, (Richard) on hand to pass on his extensive knowledge to teach anyone how to use the weights, running, rowing and cycling machines.
Having just finished refurbishing the gymnasium to a very high standard, made this a pleasure to use. Whilst there, the Toilets/showers were also redecorated and were a credit to all the hard work and tireless enthusiasm. The park is a haven for anyone wanting either a relaxed or sporting holiday, having cycle hire, outdoor pool or the many walks on the Quantock hills. We look forward to returning to this site soon.

Beautiful well kept landscaped grounds, good facilities although I wouldn't give the 2 showers 5 stars, they were hot and worked but small and a bit dated.
Tent pitch could have been bigger as we didn't have space for our car, although there were many bigger pitches, you will need super strong tent pegs and a good hammer as the ground was hard, I think maybe grass has been laid over hardstanding?
Kids loved the pool and the playground but pool didn't seem to be heated, far too cold for me. Shame that the gym wasn't included in the price as I would have liked to have used it, it remained empty throughout my stay, maybe the owners should look at this as surely its better for it to be used than to charge silly membership prices that no one wants.
Overall considering it was a bank holiday weekend and was very busy we didn't suffer too badly with noise and never had to wait for toilets or showers, my kids are already asking if we can go there again next year. I would return but would make sure I got a bigger pitch.
