Nice but small compact site.
On arrival for the Whitsun week, we found out we were double booked and 2 hardstanding caravan pitches with electric hook up, were only available. Having tents only with small children this was not suitable. Our friends who booked the pitches even stated to the manager at the time of booking that we did not need hook up as we were organic campers!
Eventually with the help of the warden, we managed to squeeze 2 large tents onto a permanent caravan (+ awning) pitch, whose owners were away. Far from ideal, we made the most of it, only to be told later by the visiting manager that we had pitched too close to the caravan awning - we had less than 1 foot to spare on both sides and couldn't do anything else!
After the bank holiday weekend and the site had emptied out somewhat we moved both tents, all equipment and kids to proper but small camping pitches.
The manager was so keen for the balance to be paid he kept verbally offering us the weekend free for our severe inconvenience. Upon settling the bill, eventually only knocked £9 off the total £150 bill.
Gripe over, time for the site review.
The site is very small and cosy, with a mixture of static and touring caravan pitches interlaced around very small camping pitches. The camping pitches are not clearly marked out and it is very easy to find neighbours within inches of you after returning from a day out, as we found later found out.
As an example, new arrivals were put onto the same spare space at the caravan pitch that we had just vacated!
The site is surrounded by trees and next to a main road but the noise is incidental and not a major distraction. Most other campers quieten down around 10-10:30pm.
The single toilet block is in the middle of the site and is very good including a separate parent and kid areas for both sexes, as well as a family bathroom including a bath. It is cleaned once a day in the afternoons.
The indoor play and TV area is good for kids, with Table soccer, pool and table tennis. Beware table bats are highly priced at £1.50 to hire each time - cheaper to bring your own or buy a set from the shop at £5!
The outdoor play area is great and is safely located away from the road, entrance etc. The only downside is there is no field/open area for kids (and dads!) to play football, cricket games etc.
The pool area is very nice with a sunny aspect but the pool is not heated and our kids could only last 15-20 mins tops in very hot sunny weather.
The site shop is small but well stocked. Opening times 9-6pm, but they will open in the evening outside these hours on request at the 'big house' for last minutes items eg BBQ coals!
Surrounding area:
The nearest local pub is the The Blue Ball inn, 1 mile up the Quantocks at Triscombe and is excellent. Nice beer garden, unique thatched hayloft barn pub/dining area and top class food.
Days out include the fishing port at Watchet, Minehead on the Steam Railway (the nearest station is 3/4 mile walk form the campiste) and the quaint and historic Dunster village, with is fantasic village circular walk.
Don't visit the Cider farm at Torre - what a disappointment. Miserable staff who reluctantly give out cider tastings even though they offer it free everywhere you read about it. The cider is very expensive (tourist rates) but is good quality. Not enough information on how it is made or the ingredients.
Great walks on the Quantocks, that even a 3 year old easily managed, and at East Quantockhead.

What a fantastic site. Friendly staff and spotless pitches and toilet blocks. Nice quiet location but only 10 minutes walk to Crowcombe station which has steam trains to Minehead. We were due to stay for 3 nights and ended up staying for 8! I would thoroughly recommend it.

My 5 year old daughter and I stayed for two nights as a girls weekend in our little 4 man tent. We chose Quantock Orchard because it is local to us and it had been recommended to us by friends. We weren't disappointed in anyway.
The pitch was lovely and flat and gave us plenty of room around us to eat and play outside. The swimming pool was a godsend, lovely and clean and a nice area to relax in.
The play area was ideal and catered for all ages.
I was delighted to see how much care and attention is lavished on the toilet blocks, hygiene with a little one being of a major concern at other sites we've visited. They were spotless at whatever time you used them.
The shop had just what we needed for our little break. We only ventured out to catch the steam train to Minehead one afternoon, and to have dinner at the Cross Keys pub down the road one evening.
Even though it's only down the road from where we live, I wouldn't hesitate to spend a weekend here because it's so relaxing you could be a million miles from home.
Wonderful site, highly recommended.

Lovely site very clean facilities and a well kept park, the owners were very accommodating, the children enjoyed the small, but friendly park and also the games room which is a god-send in the bad weather, the shower room was clean and compact, the under cover dish wash room along with the two microwaves was an added bonus.
Also brilliant bike hire and the ride is breathtaking, also less than 1 mile you have a wonderful train station where you can catch a steam train into Minehead although we got off at Watchet, and this is truly the most friendliest of places, try the Bell Inn for a very good pub lunch,
All in all a really pleasant time was had by all. If there is one minus too this park is that there was no recreational field for the children to play ball games.

This is a small site with trees and well tended hedges and borders, more like camping in a garden than a field. Not only is reception friendly and laid-back, it's the kind of place everyone says good morning: more like visiting a private club than a public campsite.
It's just off the busy Taunton-Minehead road, but far enough back that noise isn't a problem. Toilets and showers are good and well kept. This is an excellent base for walking in the lovely Quantocks, and just 1km from a station on the steam railway that parallels the main ridge, so another time we'll plan a combined train and walking circuit.
