Wow, lovely clean park. Facilities very high standard, play area and games room very entertaining for children, I thought I'd left my children home they were out all day onsite. Very obliging warden day and night. Handy for Watchet Harbour and Minehead. Recommend buying scrumpy onsite as off site can be as much as £2.00 more. Nicely located pitches with Privacy from the Leylandy hedges. Only gripe is pool didn't appear as heated s we'd have expected, never mind can't wait to go back their for holiday real soon. Open all year so we maybe having Christmas their who knows.

We are 2 families that stayed here for a 4 night break. Our group was made up of 4 adults, 4 children whose ages ranged from 5 – 14, and 2 dogs.
The pitches are small; we had two average sized family tents and had to pitch them both at an angle to get them onto the allocated pitch.
Our two tents were plagued by a swarm of wasps. By day they would settle on the warm tent, by the end of our stay all of our party were stung, this included the 2 dogs. By night we could hear a constant hum as though the nest was not too far away, we asked for something to be done and were told that the campsite warden could not find them. This wasn’t just one or two wasps it was fifty to sixty and very frightening.
After being out all day we came back to find two tents had been pitched so close that our guy ropes over lapped. They had been pitched on what clearly was not a pitch but a valuable piece of grass.
There is a small play area for children and an outdoor pool; there is a small games room and little else. Considering this is a 5 star site there was not an open space for children to play ball games or anywhere to walk our four legged friend.
However without dwelling on the negative the site is kept very nicely. What grass there is, is mown regularly and hedges are trimmed. The shower block was always clean, and showers were hot anytime of the day. As there isn’t a clubhouse so most lights are out by about 11 o’clock and very little noise after that. All we could hear at night was the hum of the wasp swarm and the bloke in the tent next to us snoring his head off!
The joys of camping!

We visited this site for a week with our one year old baby.
Positive points-
Location-stunning. It is nestled next to the prettiest steam railway station you will ever see, not far from Lyme Regis (a lovely seaside resort), near to the much busier Taunton and it has lots of rural farm shops and cream tea outlets (the one near the site is gorgeous!) on its doorstep.
Atmosphere-lovely. Whilst the owner isn't too friendly, the vibe on the site is great. Kids playing, adults chatting-a real campsite!
Swimming pool-a great addition and really warm.
Family bathroom-a bath for the little ones. Brilliant!
Great laundry.
Negative points-
The pitch was muddy and worn-perhaps due to the fact that it is open all year.
The toilets are old fashioned. The showers are poor.
You have to pay extra (£20 each for three days-quite a price for an old fashioned gym!). All in all a lovely site with a few negatives

We have just returned today after eight nights at this site, and the kids are 'camp-sick' already. We arrived in a light drizzle, which turned rapidly into heavy rain, so didn't have the most promising start to the holiday! (If you have ever battled with rain, mud and a trailer tent, you know what I mean.) The weather was good however for the majority of the week, so we have a balanced view of this site.
I'll start with the positive stuff.
Lovely setting, all you could want for attractions nearby but not on your doorstep. (Nearest Pub, The Blue Ball Inn and you HAVE to have a cream tea at Stable Cottage, up the same road, opposite the turning for the campsite.)
Beautifully landscaped, flower beds maintained and nicely set out, with little features, like the 'dovecote' and fountain. Facilities were cleaned every day, and there were plenty of them too. (I never had to wait for the shower, in August that is no mean feat!) There are family areas too, so if you are coping with a little one on your own, this is achievable. There is a games room, plus a satellite TV room. THe washing up facilities also had a toaster and microwave and were all enclosed, not just under a canopy. The pool was lovely, cool but bearable, you just have to get your shoulders under quick! And the shop is well stocked, pretty much all you need for short term use, though a bit expensive. THe staff were all cordial and would help out with advice about local stuff if you needed advice. Special mention goes to the man who cleaned the loos every day (tall man with boots!) who was always cheerful and friendly.
OK, now the not so good.
Firstly, watch out for the turning for the site, which is just after the Flaxpool garage, a sharp left! (I managed it and even kept the trailer on, despite doing the turn on two wheels.Husband went a bit grey looking.)
Secondly, this site is crowded, area wise. There are enough facilities for everyone, (77 pitches) but the pitches are too close together and too small if you have anything other that a small tent or two. This being the case, what happens is that people use the communal space for their 'extra's' so the result is the cramped feeling.
Otherwise, we can't fault the place on location or facilities. We would go back, but this will have to wait until we are not restricted to school holidays, as I am sure that this site is perfect when it is not peak season, and it is 'cramming' time.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at this site. The facility block although clean and tidy is a little basic. The sky tv only receives free to air channels and it is very hard to control the remote which is in a very awkward position chained to the wall. The shop was ok but quite expensive. The staff are mostly very helpful and friendly. There are several pubs close by and the west Somerset railway is only a brisk 10 min walk away. The pitches are a good size if close together, and the swimming pool was lovely. This site is ideally located to explore exmoor and the surrounding area. The faclonry centre at allerford is well worth a day out.

When booking this site I clearly stated that we had a motorhome and would require a hard standing with grass for our awning. When I stressed that I needed a pitch close to the dog walk, I was told that I could pick my own spot!
I was shown to my spot (I know that we were there 5pm but I was not under the impression that the site would be so full). Most of the touring pitches (of which there were very few as most of the site appeared to be taken up by residential outfits) were full and so we didn't really have much choice. The man did take us to a 'super pitch' which was all gravel and wouldn't have been suitable for our old dog to lie on.
The pitches were small and our motorhome only just fitted on which made it awkward to get it up onto blocks.
Also, there is no dog walk on site. We had to walk out of the site and down a country lane and so you can't leave the dog off the lead for exercise.
The main road outside the site is extremely busy and dangerous with no walkways (if you wish to walk to the pub at night you would have to walk the long way round the dark lanes)so we didn't bother!
However, the site is in the middle of the beautiful Quantocks and is only a 15 minute walk to a West Somerset Steam Railway station. Handy and different way(but quite expensive)to visit Minehead or one of the coastal resorts such as Dunster or Watchet.
The toilets and washblock was very clean and tidy but could have done with a bit of modernisation we thought.
The whole of the site was very neat and well kept and also, the shop was very well stocked.
I imagine that the pool and fitness room would be nice had we used them but we weren't really in the mood!

I agree with the reviews here that this is a well kept site, with good facilities in a beautiful location. However, the location is very isolated and when booking I was told that there were two pubs within easy walking distance from the site. I like a good pub and enjoy having a night off from cooking. The Blue Ball is lovely and only a mile away, but to get there you have to walk for a while on a stretch of the main Taunton-Minehead road. This is very scary and there is no pavement and lots of blind corners and hills. I asked the Warden about the other pub and he said that they don't advise people to go there as the walk in the other direction is even more dangerous!

Just returned from a week at this site.
Had a fab time.
On arrival it was nice to see that the website matched the site.
Pitches were huge and there were hedges and bushes between the pitches, which gave you privacy.
Facilities were excellent. Clean shower block, added benefit of a family bathroom with bath. The washing room was kept clean and tidy. There was also a microwave and toaster.
Shop was well stocked.
Easy to find just off the Taunton to Minehead road. If you turn left out of the campsite you are in the Somerset countyside - good walks.
Would recommend a trip on the steam railway that goes to Minehead. Only 15 min walk from the campsite.
Would also recommend 'The Chapel' restaurant in Codford St John. Very Nice. Just 10 mins in the car, towards Taunton. This is a must see. Don't be put off by the carpark (work in progress outside). The night we went only two tables booked but by the time we left the restaurant was nearly full.
You can also hire bikes at the site including a tandem, which was an experience! Especially as it is quite hilly in this area. Managed about 12 miles and visited some nice villages and pubs, which included the White Hart and the Blue Ball.
If you want a laugh - give it a go.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, and they certainly had a sense of humour!
Will be visiting again - soon.

Really nice friendly site! Nice playground for the kids!
Swimming pool is a nice size, and quite warm, shallow end for the children!
Facilities were very good, and kept very clean!
Only there for a quick weekend stay, but would have liked to stay longer!
Will visit again!

Just return from 7 nights stay on the site. It is the best we have been so far. Quite, easy to get there from main roads, perfect facilities, perfect pitches, no surcharges for awning etcetera. Tv room and game room, Pool ( was heated) playground was on the corner not much nuisance for everybody. Toilets, showers even bathroom, dishwashing, laundry - everything perfect and clean. There was even big microwave and toaster! Shop was very helpful as there were not too much shops around. Only Farm shop about 1 mile walk with butter, cider, cheese, eggs, ice cream, honey. But no bread. A lot of nice walking around, beautiful forest and hills and steam train nearby. Nice shopping in Taunton. We visited Cheddar gorge, Minehead and lynmouth. Very beautiful places!
Just for dog people. Not very much place to take them for walk.
Another thing to point out, there is only digital TV - do not forget digital box (as we did) if you've got an analog TV. But anyway they got Tv room with Sky.
Definitely will recommend and will visit again
