Very nice site, only problem was the number of people staying, very busy (ok was bank holiday), have stayed on other sites less expensive and had far more room, some pitches very small, would stay again out of school holidays and ask for large pitch.
Toilets and showers were cleaned regularly, some waste water points were blocked, washing up facilities excellent.
Found it strange that although we were booked and a substantial deposit paid, (most ever paid), due to traffic issues on route when we arrived we were told we had arrived 'late' 4. 30 pm and hence were put on what can only be described as a very small pitch, which we were moved from the next day after complaining.
Fantastic for quiet getaway out of school holiday times

This is the first truly quiet site I have ever visited, for most of the day the only sound we heard was the distant toot of a steam train whistle, no road noise despite the proximity of a fairly busy A road which is a first for us.
The facilities were spotlessly clean all day long, I found the best showers to use were the ones in the baby changing room as they were rarely used by others.
The staff were very friendly but not in your face all the time which I liked, we felt as though we were left alone to enjoy our holiday. The pool was a great bonus, very good size and well maintained as was the entire site.
The only downside was the size of the pitch, despite it being a 'superpitch' there was only just enough room for the caravan/awning/car with no space left to enjoy the sunshine, and the drain for the waste water was about 18' high so it took ages to empty a sink full of water. There is one Deluxe Superpitch which is much bigger with its own barbecue and patio table but we never knew of it until we arrived, it may be worth asking if this is available when you book as it doesn't appear on the website.
We found the Blue Ball Inn just down the road at Triscombe to serve very nice food especially the fresh fish dishes. We tried to get a meal at the Carow Arms in Crowcombe, also very near to the site, but they had a power cut as we arrived and closed the kitchen. The staff were less than friendly as they seemed a little stressed at the time so we left and ate elsewhere (in fact this is when we found the Blue Ball Inn).
Location of this site is excellent, but be aware that due to it being in the middle of nowhere a trip to the local shop can take a while!

Have just returned from a weeks stay. We had a good holiday, we were a party of 18, two trailer tents, two tents, and one group in a static on site.
The site itself is clean and tidy and our pitch was of a good size, but we were under a tree that oused sap all over our car and tent!
When we arrived after a very long drive around 2pm, there was no one to be found the shop was locked, but said it was open. After searching for the Warden, we were told that we should not have been there until the following day ! We still don't know if it was his or our fault but never the less he fitted us in although we not together.
The shower block and toilets were cleaned regularly, there are four showers for each sex, and four toilets for each sex, in the bathroom is another toilet. These were inadequate at very busy times and the hot water was either very hot or ran out when it is busy.
I went to have a bath one morning costing £1, after pumping £3s in and only getting 2 inches of water I had a quick wash and went to the shop to complain, the man there said it was because of it being busy and gave me my money back, once again this should not happen and needs sorting out.
The children's play area is ok but they soon got bored, and the heated pool was cold most of the time. The shop was never open when it should be, they could really do with someone in there full time, as the site manager or Warden operates both.
You really need a car to get anywhere as the main road is very busy and is on a blind hill. You can walk to the local train station, and you can hear the steam train from the site which was great.
There is a mobile fish and chip van that comes Wed & Sat and are are very nice and well worth a try. The site would benefit from a little cafe, which I'm sure would earn its keep.
We were near a large wheelie bin, which was overflowing and smelt, but this was emptied just before we left, also the waste water was blocked and also smelt this was not sorted out.
This is a pleasant site but did not have the facilities to cater for the amount of guests it took. The staff were all polite and friendly, and each pitch is cleared before the next people arrive,
I would go again if they built another shower/toilet block and sorted the hot water out.
Owner's response: In response to these comments we have re-assested the hot water system at Quantock Orchard and we believe that we have sorted the problem, however ajustments may be made during our peak season. We have now cleared all the waste water points and they are now all opperational, we appologies for the inconvenience caused. We have four showers for each sex, and with eight showers in total that’s more than enough capacity for our guests, we only have 67 touring pitches. These are not including the two showers in the gym.

This was a great park, all the pitches had ehu and were private. It has a swimming pool and gym, which we didn't use. The staff were very friendly and were always helpful.
The only downside was the showers which were luke warm and could do with heating inside. Would go there again if they sort out showers.
There was a games room as well which was used quite a bit by younger people, which was right next to our pitch but didn't cause us any bother. The site is out in the country and is quiet and peaceful.
The prices on this site are really reasonable and value for money.

Very pretty site, although a bit compact when pitching up with a touring van.
The site was extremely well maintained and I believe a maintenance man lives on site in a static caravan- everyday we saw people working on the site in one way or another to keep it tidy. The centre is a big green with communal BBQ area and picnic tables, plus water taps etc at the sides, and it's hedged to keep it private. Tents did camp there however. The toilets were good, always clean. Kids playground looked quite good. The pool was nice although we didn't use it as we had our dog with us and they're not allowed poolside (and he isn't trustworthy alone in the van). 3/4 miles away is Crowcombe train station, down a nice country lane, so any railway fan will no doubt want to take a wander to see this lovely station. We caught a steam train from there into Minehead on the old railway, lovely way to spend the day (ant the dog got his own ticket too, which he wore proudly in his collar not unlike Timothy from the Famous 5!)
Would definitely return either with or without kids, but a few things to bear in mind are:
One night a big group all tented together on the central green (all the caravans surround it). They were pretty noisy until 1 or 2am and the maintenance chap on site to my knowledge didn't ask them to quiten down. That said, we didn't ring him to complain so I guess that might have helped solve the problem.
Site doesn't allow dogs poolside, which is fair enough, but bear in mind if you have a chewer like we do
The nearest town is about 3 miles away so if you don't want to use the camp shop, be sure to stock up before you arrive.
The camp shop seemed to have erratic opening times - maybe they were short staffed
When we first arrived there was no one there to greet us and another van who arrived at the same time, so we spent a lot of time calling the help numbers trying to get someone to come and direct us to where we were pitching (as pitches are allocated). As the parks quite small, we were blocking one side of the road out as we didn't know where to go.
On a plus note, and extra brownie points to them, they originally pitched us next to the play area, but because we haven't got kids and like peace and quiet, we asked if we could move and they were fine with it and gave us a new pitch straightaway.
We left a night early because of Glastonbury traffic and they've offered to give us a free night in return should we go back - that was a year ago so doubt theyd remember but + points all the same!

Arrived to a warm welcome. The static caravan was of a very high standard and modern.
Couldn't resist checking out the camping facilities ie. Shower block and washing up area. These were of a very high standard. I would consider visiting here in the summer with the tent but would probably go off peak as it could be quite snug here.
Had a power cut in the caravan one morning, probably due to many fan heaters etc running. This was both the statics and many of the EHU points for tourers. One irate touring caravanner told me this was the fifth they had. As it seems the statics and tourers are on the same circuit which can't cope, it might be worth removing the electric kettles from the statics and providing stove kettles to reduce the load; this was always the norm when I was went on family holidays as a kid.
The surrounding countryside is stunning with the choice of the Quantock hills to the East of the park and Exmoor to the West. This is a good base for experiencing the West Somerset Railway and enjoyed a journey up to Watchet and some nice cider in the pubs there. We caught the bus home afterwards.
The Taunton bus goes past the site, no official stop there but the driver obliged when we asked. The site is only 10 miles from Taunton; after the missus got in a strop and stayed at home, my friend took pity on me and got the train in. It was useful being so close to a mainline station.
Also feel I should point out that I left my hat behind in the caravan. When I realised this, I called and arranged to send a prepaid envelope for the owners to return it with. They were very obliging and happy to do this for me and I am now reunited with my hat.
In summary, this is a great site with friendly staff and I am keen to visit again sometime either hiring a caravan (winter) or camping (spring / summer / autumn).

Very clean & tidy site with friendly & helpful staff, ideal for a relaxing break or visiting the nearby steam railway & picturesque countryside. However there is not much in the way of evening entertainment, the nearest pub being about a mile away & not ideal to walk to due to a very busy main road with no footpath. Also a point to note is that Sat Nav directions are not good as they took me over the Quantock Hills which is not advisable when towing as there is a steep decent. All in all highly recommended, we will be returning soon.

We booked this site at short notice, location being the most important aspect as we were in the process of upgrading our folding camper to a caravan and need to be within easy travelling distance of Highbridge. First impressions were very good - we were welcomed by an extremely helpful guy who gave lots of info about the surrounding area. The site itself was beautifully landscaped and very lush. The pitch we were given was behind a hedge in what appeared to be a tent area - which we didn't mind. However access to the pitch was restricted and the day after our arrival we were completely hemmed in by two enormous tents! There was no parking by the pitch - we had to park in a small gravel area and it was hit and miss as to whether a space would be available if you had been out for the day.
There was a small play area with opening and closing times.
The swimming pool was great for our 10 year old - unfortunately due to the horrible weather, didn't get to use it as much as she would have liked.
Toilets were very clean (credit to the warden as the weather was terrible) and adequate for the size of the site, showers were OK but hot water was a bit hit and miss. There was a nice bathroom which would be handy for families.
The games room had a table tennis table and a few slot machines. The TV was a bit difficult to control. The site shop was small but had the basics - if you were lucky enough to find it open (although apparently you can call the owners to come and open up).
There were large groups of young people and single sex groups. This resulted in the site being disturbed and noisy until 4.30 am on one occasion and regularly till 2.00. We don't mind a bit of banter and chatter but this was extreme and included really foul language.
This could be a really lovely site - perfectly situated in spectacular countryside and within easy reach of the coast and loads of attractions. However I think the size of the pitches needs to be adjusted to take account of the fact that most people just don't use small ridge tents anymore, and the owners perhaps need to rethink their policy of allowing single sex or large groups of young people on site.
One last thing - if using a sat nav be careful, it does attempt to send you up over the hill to Crowcombe - it's a 25% gradient (up and down) and single track for about 3 miles - very interesting if you're towing! If you are coming through Bridgwater you would be advised to go down into Williton then back up to the site! We weren't the only people to be caught out!

I only stopped over one night, and I think the location really merits a longer stay. I was given a range of options of places to pitch, and chose the space for tents rather than an individual pitch. This is very close to the facilities block, which was clean and well-equipped. There's a small shop as well, and a swimming pool (I hadn't brought my cossie though).
The site wasn't too busy, but I was kept awake by noise - just one of those things. I'm not sure I'd want to come with a small tent in school holidays, but I'd give it another go out of peak season.

Nice attractive site. Facilities are good - showers had plenty of hot water. I rarely had to wait particularly once I had discovered there were more showers in the parent room. Toilet block was generally clean. Laundry room and dish washing area also good (toaster and microwave available)
Lovely outdoor pool - my boys loved it (bit cold for me though!) Bring inflatables if you have them to add to the fun. Nicely kept play area and games room for the children to congregate in. If you have table tennis bats bring them. Only thing lacking is a larger outdoor area for football etc.
The pitches vary in size. Ours was just big enough for caravan, porch and car. The site is quite 'snug' when full.
We were holidaying with another family who were arriving a few days later than us. On booking we were told that arrangements would be made for us to have pitches together. This didn't happen and I felt that no real effort was made to accommodate us in this respect (even though on the day before they arrived a pitch next to us became vacant - which when we checked in we were told would be so)
Apart from this - we would recommend this site - a lovely area to holiday in.
