This site was beautiful. It has a feeling of being very genuine. Iain greets each guest personally and makes sure that they have what they need. When you arrive you have the options of pitching your tent in the grasslands or in the woodlands.

Obviously, we went for the Woodlands - once we had heard that there were 18 acres of 'pitch where you like' woodlands and a wide-birth stream running straight through it. We found an idyllic spot, right near the stream and with lots of shelter.

We dipped in the stream, washed in the stream and even boiled the water from the stream for tea, coffee and dinner. There was fire wood galore; for use in the firepits and such a relaxing environment to live in. Iain provides warm showers, drinking water, a basic kitchen and some porta-loo toilets too - all for £6 per person (at the time of writing!)

A great deal - we can't recommend it highly enough and will more than likely return there with friends!

Absolutely fantastic, wild camping with permission & near-by toilets & showers etc.

Lovely site, feels like you're miles from anywhere, but actually close to M4, towns & visitor attractions.

Great owner (Ian) helpful but not in your face!

Only take what you need, or plan to stay for a while as you have to carrry / wheelbarrow everything from car park into woods, well worth it when you've found your choice of pitch, no issues with having open fires etc.

Sadly the weather was not kind & as it rained inside our tent on the second night, we cut our trip short, but we will be back, with less kit & more waterproof spray!

If you want to go wild, but safe camping & can live without pubs & entertainment on site, this is the place to go. Highly recommended 👍👍

If you crave bright lights, music blasting from the entertainment complex, slot machines, beer on tap, Free WiFi, an on site shop and the aroma of fast food.

Then Glyn Y Mul farm is definitely not for you.

On the other hand if you want to tent camp in an actual woodland, chill a few beers or a bottle of wine in a stream and cuddle up in front of a campfire this is the place you have been dreaming of. The price will not break your wallet either.

Facilities on site are basic but functional and what the showers lack in faux marble and underfloor heating they more than make up for with the sheer size. Huge! big enough to hose down an entire tribe of muddy kids in one go.

Pitch spacing varies, some are isolated nearly hidden from view whilst others are more suited for families or groups surrounded by grass and easy to find. You could easily spend half a day exploring the paths looking for that ideal spot.

Note: no vehicles are allowed in the woods. So if you have an 8 person poly tunnel tent a big gas BBQ and all the glamping toys you will need to bring a trolley.

Safety: Do not climb the opposite bank of the river! The slope is steep & unstable. After heavy rain whole trees have a habit of coming down unexpectedly.

#Tip - pack a bowsaw because fallen dead wood in the river is free, living trees on the campsite side are off limits and a £7 bag of kiln dried firewood will only last most people one night.

Brilliant small site tucked up in gorgeous woods near a lovely river. Long narrow road to reach the site. Facilities fine and clean. Really helpful owner and I cannot stress this enough - towing out of mud with a tractor!).

Highly recommend this site. Lovely views and brilliant for dogs and walking. Chocks were helpful as some pitches slightly slope.

This was intending to be my first solo hammock camp, but the weather was terrible on the day I arrived, so rather than miss out decided to use a tent, I used the Gelert Chinook 3, got set up in a lovely spot deep in the woods right beside the river, my first night was a total washout and everything got soaked, but the sound of the rain and the river lulled me into sleep, the next day was beautiful sun shining and warm, I put up my hammock chair and relaxed all day in that, talk about being chilled out, I didn't see a living soul all day, if you want solitude with a wild edge, give this place a try, it is idyllic and wild, I will be back

My husband and I have just come back from 10 days at Glyn Y Mul Farm campsite and we wanted to write a few words about the place.

We were so pleased when we pulled into the campsite as it was exactly what we been hoping for. Quiet, beautiful and rustic. Ian met us at the gates and helped us pick a spot to pitch the caravan. The views were amazing over the valley and from everywhere on the campsite you can hear the river that runs through the bottom of the valley.

As I am 7 months pregnant it was important to me that the toilets and showers were nice which I'm pleased to say they were. They were cleaned daily and the water was nice and hot everytime I used them.

Another bonus was the little kitchen they have. It has a microwave, fridge/freezer and two sinks for washing up. We used the microwave a couple of times and did all our washing up in there (makes a nice change from boiling a kettle and standing in your awning doing it!)

The location is fantastic too as it's only about 10 miles from Swansea, about 15 miles from the Gower (well worth a visit), about 10 miles from the Brecon Beacons and Neath is literally down the road (it has two big supermarkets. )

There are some lovely walks in the area (we took our dog so wanted to tire her out as much as possible. ) A few miles up the A465 and you get to some amazing waterfalls. Really worth a visit. And we also drove to Carreg Cennen castle on the west side of the Brecon Beacons which I'd also recommend.

So all in all we had a fantastic stay and would totally recommend the place.

Had the most wonderful time at Glyn Y Mul Farm, met by friendly staff.

Stayed 3 nights with my 11year old son down in the woodland. A bit of a walk to the pitch we had chosen (as described on the website) but more than worth it.

The facilities were exactly as described on the website and couldn't fault any of them. All of the facilities have clear instructions on how to be used and the staff give an overall briefing on arrival.

There were 8 other campers set up around the woodland and everybody were as friendly and respectful as could be wished for.

We stayed under a tarp for the 3 nights, with a lovely open fire burning away, absolutely perfect. It rained the 2nd night and during the 2nd day which made the woodland a bit muddy under foot, but that was easily dealt with by wearing the correct footwear.

I believe that the only way you wouldn't enjoy your time there would be if the visiting party do not read what is clearly stated on the very honest description of the site on the website or they are ill equipped to stay.

I will be returning without doubt and look forward to taking friends and family to the site to meet the owner, the friendly and helpful staff and to spend some more relaxing time at Glyn Y Mul Farm

Stayed here for 3 nights in early May 2012 as a weekend getaway with 7 friends. Bit of a wild camping trip with the boys to sit around a campfire and strum guitar whilst making dinner in a Dutch Oven over an open fire. It was every bit as good as we hoped!

The owner was really helpful with organising booking (Prompt response via e-mail and all further queries very quickly replied to)

We felt very welcome on arrival and had a choice of pitches in the woods as we had travelled up from London fairly early. As others have said, it IS a wee walk from the car park to the woods so be aware you'll have to carry everything uphill on the way back! However it is massively worth the effort to do so!

Camping next to the river Dulais is a magical experience. The pitches are far enough apart that although you do see the odd person walking past you don't feel any intrusion at all (It actually felt like we had the site to ourselves at times)

As for facilities, fairly basic yet clean. Small points like always having enough toilet roll in the bathrooms really made a difference!

Also, there is some great walking in the area. We did a fair hike up the old roman road (Look on an OS map for the area) up to the summit where you can find a trig point, and then down to Crynant village to the Graynon Pub. The staff and locals were really friendly and even served us food despite the kitchen having just closed!

All in all, every one of the group of 8 that visited has vowed to return. We can't speak highly enough of this place! Although as others have stated. If you want a fancy campsite with all Modern Conveniences. This isn't it (And that's what makes it so bloody special!)

What a wonderful camp site! It's a small working farm with some grass pitches, as the website suggests, this is definitely a site to go if you're looking to get 'back to nature'.

Very few amenities nearby, so make sure you're stocked up if you're staying for more than a couple of nights.

We weren't able to get on to the pitch, but the owners kindly let us camp just off pitch and even provided a hook up lead long enough for us to use.

The toilet block is basic, as is the kitchen area, but that's not the reason you go to these sites.

Every member of staff was really helpful and willing to explain anything I wasn't clear on.

On the way home, a tree had fallen into the road along our path, after calling the campsite, they arrived within minutes and cleared the path.

What a fantastic night's break, I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday with plenty of walks and lovely views.

I will definitely be going back!
