What a brilliant site! We camped 'wild' in the woods, which meant a bit of a haul getting all our kit in but it's worth the effort. Very peaceful, very friendly owner and considerate fellow campers (We were there in September so not many kids about, so peaceful!).
The facilities are basic but do the job, and the site is well looked after.
We enjoy walking, and there is plenty of that in the area, beautiful scenery.
We like woodland sites that don't pack 'em in like sardines, that allow campfires, with enough facilities for basic comfort - Lone Wolf totally fits the bill, but as a few other reviews have said, if you want all singing all dancing, this isn't it (Thankfully!).
I sincerely hope that you guys keep on doing what you are doing. We will be back.

Spent 5 nights on the campsite with 4 children, my sister and a dog. We were not brave enough to rough it in the woods this time but would definitely consider it in the future.
If you are looking for fancy mod cons, pool, shop, playground and club room then go elsewhere.
If you are looking for a small basic site with beautiful surroundings and a lovely friendly atmosphere with staff and other (considerate) campers then I would highly recommend this campsite.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there! ps the children want to say they enjoyed stroking all the cats.

Husband wanted to wild camp so I found this as a bit of a compromise. When you book in you have a choice of the woods or the field, we went for the woods.
Although its a bit of a trek to haul your stuff down there its well worth it. We found a spot by the river and pitched up.
It was a fabulous experience, cant see your hand in front of your face at night and all you can hear is the river.
I would def do it again as it was miles apart from the normal glamping that we do and it reminds you that really, you don't need all singing all dancing to enjoy yourselves.

Spent this weekend at 'Lone Wolf' Campsite - 2 nights. Received the warmest welcome I've ever had on any campsite - ever!
Friendly people, helpful too. The campsite is basic but has a chemical toilet in each of the camping fields, more in the camp centre, a proper ladies and gents, a shower, washroom and kitchen area.
The toilets were all very clean and there wasn't any risk of running short of paper, several rolls in each. Experienced 36 hours of constant rain but camped at the top of the field and it drained away no problem, there was some background noise from a nearby road. The views were fantastic.
A walk down into the woods revealed the true wonder of this site - almost 'wild' camping along side a fast flowing river, there was no sign of the outside whatsoever, the predominant noise being the flowing river.
The site allows camp fires and supplies the wood. The site is in a great location and is central for exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park, Swansea and Gower.
I'll be going back, next time to experience the wood lands.

Just came back from 'lone wolf' on Sunday – stayed one night. Only 5 miles from my house, but had never been there 'till last week. Went for a recce Thursday as we had heard/read a bit about it. We were originally interested in 'roughing it' - camping in the woods, but we (my wife and son, 8 and daughter 7) stayed in the field and went into the woods a couple of times for fires and walks.
Price: £6 p/adult, £3 p/child - this is all in re: hot water, access to fridge, micro, freezer, shower, 'solid' and chemical toilets.
Facilities: as above, everything you need, including the free loan of beer barrels/laundry drums (to place on bricks) to use as fire pits if you are in the fields.
Location: working farm, fantastic views, quiet, beautiful countryside. The woodland alongside the river is fantastic. You are 10 mins from Neath town, 5 mins from Aberdulais falls, 20 mins from Afan Argoed park, approx 30 mins from Dan-yr-ogof caves and 45 mins from Brecon. No shop or pub in easy walking distance.
'Neighbours': we were in a field with two couples (only three tents), but there were a few families in tents, a tourer or two and a camper van. In the woods there was quite a mix, groups of adults, quite a few families. Quite a few 'hardcore' campers (tents optional). Everyone seemed sound, quite friendly, no big gangs, teens or rowdy 'beauts'. - I'm sure they wouldn't have made it through the gates!
We are going to get in the woods next time, there are some choice spots right next to the river. Just imagine, sitting next to the tent, watching the kids play (safely) by the river, cooking tea on the fire and sipping a red wine. – Nice.
Booking by email is essential, and although they run a tight ship/may seem strict to some (no music etc) – I feel that this attitude has dissuaded any ‘undesirables’ using the site as a party venue.
To conclude: great site, nice location, good campers, cool staff, adequate+ facilities, loads of woods to explore…
I’m hard pressed to find any kind of negative, oh, just the midges near the ponds in the farthest field – bring your repellent.
I had a great time and am really inspired to get some ‘real’ camping in up there ASAP.

Glyn y Mul is an idyllic spot which feels like it's in the middle of nowhere while actually being just a few minutes from the M4. The site is one which offers wild woodland camping and we checked out the area for this - it looked absolutely amazing and we might well come back and try this another time. On this occasion, though, we were living out of the campervan and so we stayed on the main field. The facilities are excellent - hook-up and water both convenient for the pitch. The electricity is on a pay-as-you-go meter. There is also a small kitchen with microwave, kettle, fridge and freezer, which could be really handy.
Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. This is not a slick site with all mod cons but it has everything that you might need and is the perfect place to get away from it all.

A peaceful site indeed. Stayed here for one night while in this part of the world on a business trip to Neath.
The sun only gets to the lower pitches in the morning, though, so I've got a damp tent to dry out, but that's not really a crisis.
The kitchen block makes this site so useful if you're only staying a short while - I didn't bring any of my cooking kit at all.

A truly brilliant campsite - this was our first experience of camping and we opted for wild camping in the woods. Our group (2 families each with 2 children under 6) had a fantastic experience - we camped by the river and managed to do all our cooking on a campfire as our camping stove didn't work!
The weather was fantastic and the children were more than happy paying in the trees, paddling in the river or swinging on the rope swing we made. It's a really pretty place with loads of wild flowers - I never thought we'd be sleeping amongst bluebells!
Ian and his team were incredibly friendly and helpful - leaving you to it, but being very available if you needed help or advice (or even a bit of kindling cut up!). Ian was very concerned that we had a nice stay and a positive experience. All the other campers we met were also very friendly.
There is a kitchen area in the main site with toaster, microwave, fridge (with ice box) and hot and cold water, plenty of toilets (the women's toilet was like a bathroom and more than exceeded expectations!), and the shower room was clean and spacious - we only had to queue for a shower once during our 4 day stay.
Don't be put off by the mention of a train which runs through the site by the way - We never heard or saw the train and we were here for 4 days.
We took logs and wood to burn, but still had to buy some - Ian is happy for you to collect wood from the forest, but for dry seasoned stuff, it's worth buying a few bags.
The only negative was that the river is not really clean enough to swim in - or at least if you do, keep your mouth closed - Ian did warn us that there is run off from farms etc further up the valley, and the kids had a lovely time wading up and down, but think twice about any swimming / drinking!
The best thing about this site is that you have the option of camping in the woods, but you are still only about 5 minutes walk from hot showers, drinking water and toilets - a perfect place for 'wild camping for beginners'!

You can not fault them, not a lot there but that is the whole point, very welcoming and 2 minutes from main road. I have stayed there about 4 times now as it is only 30 minutes from my home.
It is just somewhere to relax and enjoy for e day or a week as there is plenty to do in close proximity to the site. When you get there as to go down into the trees section if you wish to on your own.
Both my wife and I plus the dog BOB the sharpei have enjoyed it everytime, we have taken friends on other occasion as well and they have made similar comments too.
Watch for the UFO's as well, well it was 2am and realised the next day they were satellites (oopps)

Great campsite for that get away from it all feeling, large fields and plenty of space. There's even a woodland camping section right next to the river that makes it even more secluded. This site has no club house, so, thankfully not many screaming kids to contend with. We stayed over the Easter Bank holiday and it was less than half full so it's not that busy.
Toilet/shower facilities are plentiful and very clean so queing is not an issue. They even have a kitchen area with toaster, microwave, kettle and Freezer that is kept very clean. We chose the top of the hillier field as it was forecast a wet weekend and this paid off as we were firm and dry underfoot but the lower lying fields can, by the owners own submission, get a little boggy.
Electric hook ups are few so book in advance and the owner and his helpers are very very helpful and pleasant.
All in all a great peaceful place to escape to were you can even have open camp fires.
