A very peaceful country location 1/2 mile from Thurne's picturesque riverside marina where there is also a pub and village stores. The sunsets over the river were stunning and there were plenty of opportunities for star gazing. There are lots of quiet country roads for cycling which was perfect for us and we enjoyed Hickling Broad.

The site is in a large, mostly level field (very well kept) with plenty of space, surrounded by hedging. There is water tap, a washing up and information shed in the corner of the field. A short walk from the field leads to a single loo plus one shower room and loo each for men and women. Although the loo, sink and shower base were kept clean there was mildew around the windows, the disabled equipment was very dusty and the whole area was inhabited by well- established spiders and their multiple webs. The electric shower was hot and just about enough water to have a reasonable wash.

At £20 per night it was over priced for the standard of facilities offered and another £4 for electric made it quite expensive. All in all we enjoyed visiting this quiet part of Norfolk but would probably choose one of the two CL sites in Thurne next time.

What a find! A really first class little campsite at the end of this picturesque village. Julia and Andy (the owners) where both very friendly and helpful during booking, before arrival and during our stay, and have a great sense of humour.

This campsite was just what we were looking for with all the essential facilities but none of the commercial stuff!

The toilets, showers and washing up facilities were spotlessly clean and well stocked and there was plenty of hot water all day.

The pitches were large and well spaced with plenty of room for everyone without being on top of each other. The pitches are tidy and well kept and all the hedges were well trimmed too.

There was no long list of rules and regulations when we arrived, just a respect and trust that everyone will treat the campsite as they would their own home and this brought out the best in everyone, leaving all facilities in the state in which they found them. Great ethos.

Lots of lovely walks nearby, with well marked footpaths.

There is a good pub and a lovely little village shop selling unusual and reasonably priced gifts as well as a few essentials.

We'll definitely visit again. We loved it.

Thank you Julia and Andy

We felt that the site was excellent. It is very well maintained and the toilet block was very clean. The owners obviously take a lot of pride in Woodside. The location was also very good for us - a nice quiet holiday - yet Great Yarmouth was only 20 minutes away. Julia and Andy were incredibly helpful both prior to our visit and during our visit.

If you are looking for an all singing, all dancing site with a 40 cubicle shower block then this is not it. If you are looking for a nicely kept, clean and tidy quiet peaceful site then I would recommend Woodside. We will definitely come back.

We stayed here for two nights in August in VW Campervan - 2 adults and 2 kids.

Site is well kept large level field, surrounded by large hedges. It's in a rural location, which is part of its appeal, and although outside the village it's an easy walk down the quiet lane back to Thurne.

There is plenty of space on the site between pitches and on the field itself. When we stayed, it was only ourselves plus 3 other couples in tents, so was very quiet.

We had a hook-up, with no issues. As mentioned elsewhere there is one shower & toilet for each of gents and ladies, plus mixed/disabled toilet in the block - not an issue for us, but at busy times may be. There is a small shed in the corner of the field for washing up (with hot water) and also freezer for ice blocks.

Booking was easy and prompt replies to emails from the owners, who are very friendly too.

We enjoyed our brief stay and boys enjoyed the space and rural location - you don't need a kids playground to enjoy yourself! Fantastic night star-gazing too, as no light pollution.

Just came back from a 3 night stay with my husband and two children. Well kept pitches paid the extra for electric hookup and had no problems. There was only a few other campers on site so had no issues with waiting for toilets or showers, the water was fine and stayed at temp. Owners were very friendly and would not hesitate to stay there again lovely quite site

This is a lovely flat site, with 25 pitches. The plus points are that it is very level and well tended. It is set in a very pretty area with lots of areas to walk to, close to the broads and a the village of Thurne where there is a pub that does food used mainly by people who moor their boats just over the road from the pub. This is about a 10 minute walk away. There is no children's play area, although there is plenty of space for them to run around and play, as there is quite a lot of space on the field and there is a lot of space to pitch tents etc.

On the minus side, for 25 pitches there is one ladies shower and separate toilet, one gents shower and separate toilet and then a mixed disabled toilet. If all pitches were full you would have an awful wait to use the facilities. As it was, there was only our party of 14 people and a couple of other tents on the site and we had to wait quite a while as we all needed to shower around the same time. Also, the shower temperature was very difficult to control, both my children got scalded by the hot water, it was either boiling hot or freezing and it took a long time to get a steady warm temperature. This did slow the showering process down quite a lot.

We did wonder why the site was so empty for the middle of the school holidays and that could be one of the reasons. One of the other reasons could also be that the electric hook up will only take up to 6v, so you would need to ensure you had only camping items plugged in. We had all brought along our own kettles from home and they all kept tripping the electrics. We did all have gas stoves but it would have been nicer to have had a quick boil for our cuppa in the morning. This might put some people off if they wanted to plug in anything that took more ampage.

Another thing to bear in mind is that the site is located down a good few miles of single car width road, there are pull ins and our little campervan was fine if we met any oncoming traffic but anything large, i. E. A motorhome may struggle getting down those roads, especially if there is a lot of farm traffic around. Also, as mentioned by other reviewers, the washing up facilities consisted of one sink in a small shed, and which slowed things down considerably after the obligatory big fry up in the mornings.

All in all it is a clean, level site, reasonably priced in a very nice area on the broads and if the niggles mentioned above are not likely to be an issue for you then it could be a place worth considering staying at.

Friendly owners, attractive site which is within 10mins walk of the village. Good place to base yourself with walks from the campsite or short drive to the coast. The amenity block is clean but the wash basin is cloak room sized so a bit small but other than that, it is a delightful site and would happily stay again.

We ate one night at the local pub which was OK food but nothing special. If heading to Horsey Mill try the Fisherman's Return, Winerton-On-Sea on the way home. Delicious food and dog friendly. The Alfresco Tea Rooms in Ludham is also very nice.

As this is a small site, we booked in advance rather than leave things to chance. Booking by phone and email was efficiently handled, half the money needs to be paid by cheque in advance (non refundable) but when we changed our dates slightly the owner was very accommodating. On arrival we were shown our allocated space - which was ample for our largish tent and car, and left a good distance between us and our neighbours. The site is a levelled field surrounded by a well trimmed hedge and the pitches are all around the perimeter. It could do with some features - eg plants or trees in the middle as it did feel a bit like an oversized tennis court where everyone could see everyone else. However the space is good for children to play and for cars to manoeuvre. There's a washing up area in a shed with light and hot water, and a shower and WC block - in an adjacent area - maybe 100-200 yards away. Shower and toilets were very clean and functioned well. Overall the site is very rural, peaceful and quiet. Thurne itself is an attractive village located on the river, and the location is excellent for walks, visiting the coast and the broads. Many other attractions are within an easy drive.

Had a fantastic stay here. The site is a small rural site with excellent access to the broads for boating & walking. It is good for younger children having a nice park in the village which is a ten minute walk. The local pub was very good and the carvery was good value for money. Local. Facilities are a pub shop and general village shop with souvenirs. The area is picturesque. Local recommendations winterton by the sea unspoilt sandy beach with dunes for getting out of the wind. Fishermans rest at winterton excellent food very friendly. Horsey wind pump. Take an electric boat out for a day with a picnic on the broads from potter heigham. The site has a large area in the middle for the children to play games. The toilet block is dated and the showers are adequate at best. There is only one male and one female toilet and only one shower each so there may be ques. The site was very clean ! The site also recycles! In a nut shell a good base to explore north east Norfolk and the north broads. A trip to Norwich is worthwhile on rainy days and the cinema on st Andrews street is very good. Watch the park and ride as bus numbers are confusing !

Site is in one field, was quite busy but quiet. Lovely location but quite a drive to anywhere.

As mentioned in other review loos & shower limited. Hot water not working in ladies - owner explained that they couldn't deal with it till off season as they'd have to take the cubicle apart. We didn't have problems with getting in though.

There's a shed for pot wash with a little freezer at cost of 20p for re-freezing your ice packs.

Would go again.
