We stayed at this site for 4 nights with some friends and their kids. All the pitches are around the edge of a large field where the children could play without disturbing other folk. The toilets and showers were basic but spotlessly clean - although there is only one shower each for boys and girls, we never had to queue and hot water was always plentiful. There is a small shed for washing up, which, once again, was spotlessly clean. The shed also houses a small freezer for freezing ice blocks for which there is an honesty box for 75p per day. Julia and Andy, the owners, were lovely people who came around every day to say hello and check everyone was ok (we did have some periods of torrential rain overnight - I think they wanted to make sure we weren't washed away!).
The site really is at a dead end, down a single track lane - absolutely idyllic (until we arrived).
The Red Lion pub serves lovely food and is next door to the play park for the kids.
We will definitely return.

On arriving, the owners couldnt have been more helpful. This is such a nice, quiet site down the end of a lane.
Even though there are 15 pitches for tents, their license only allows for 10 at a time. The camping area is very large, allowing for ball games, etc in the middle of the tents without annoying anyone. Also the camping area is sheltered by hedges on all sides.
The toilets/showers where very clean with plenty of hot water. There is a small hut that has good washing up facilities.
The Lion Inn is a short walk down the road or you can use the public footpath across the fields to get to it. There are supermarkets in Acle and Martham, both about a 10 minute drive away. The beaches are a little further.
This is one place that we will definitely be going back to. It's one of those places that you don't want to tell anyone else about because it is so quiet and special.

This was our first visit to the Broads and, using the Uk Campsites website, we had compiled a list of possible sites in the Potter Heigham area, which appreared to be an excellent place for Broads exploration. While this turned out to be true, it also meant that the area was very busy and the campsites were squeezed into small plots or next to busy roads or had taken on the air of a theme park. Then we found Woodside Farm. It's hidden away down a dead end road in a quiet location.
The camping field is large and extremely well tended with a washing up 'hut' in the corner with a freezer for ice packs and a prefabricated toilet/shower block a little further away, with 1 toilet and free shower for each sex plus one toilet for use by both. They were inspected 4 times a day and kept very clean, in keeping with the rest of the site.
In Thurne, a short walk down the lane, the pub caters mainly for the boats which moor nearby from late afternoon onwards. There are no other facilities here but you are not far from Potter Heigham which services a huge hire fleet and provides everything a humble camper will need. There are also local shops and a Budgens supermarket in Acle, about 3 miles away.
Once off the beaten track the roads are surprisingly quite and scenic. We picked up a free Broads by Bike leaflet from Tourist Information and would recommend other cyclists do the same.
At £17 per night, we initially thought that this was quite expensive, however, having seen the other sites in the area this appears to be around the going rate. It would have been a nice touch not to be asked for an additional 75p per day for use of the freezer.

This was our first attempt at camping and with our border collie had a great time even though the weather was not too good. We stayed fri to mon. The site pitch we were given was huge and met all our needs, we couldn't falter anything at this site. Had nice walks to the river and drinks in the local pub, The White Lion This is very local to where we live but felt we were on holiday miles away, would visit site again.

We really enjoyed our stay at woodside farm, the site was clean and well kept, pitch size was big with hedging to one side. With a small amount of pitches set around the outside of a large field, with plenty of room for children and adults to play with out disturbing others.
The area is lovely and quiet set in the countryside we found a really nice beach at Horsey 15minutes away for walking our dog. The owners of this site were very helpful and friendly they encouraged recyling and kept the showers and toilets very clean(although they are only portacabins). We had a lovely time there and will be returning.

We stayed here for 5 nights in August, unfortunately choosing a wet and windy week. However, this site is quaint, with plenty of room to spread about. The owners were very friendly and helpful. A lovely clean site with clean toilet and shower block, checked 4 times a day, with soap and hand-towels provided. The showers are included in the pitch rental price, and these were well looked after. A shed is provided on the camping field, fitted with kitchen units and sink, with a freezer underneath where you can freeze your ice blocks for a nominal fee. There was plenty of hot water on demand for washing up, and the owners have even provided a washing-up bowl and drainer rack for campers' use. There is a bench by the small lake which was sheltered and lovely to sit on in the late afternoon.
There is a nice footpath along one side of the field, for walking your dog and you can look at the friendly horses in the adjacent field.
A ten-minute walk and you are in Thurne village centre. Here there is the Lion public house, which served good food, and the landlord was polite and helpful. On both occasions that we visited the Lion, we could take our dog into the Family Room (as it was raining hard at one point!). There is also a small shop selling bread etc, and a little gift shop nearby. The Staithe in Thurne is very attractive, with holidaymakers using the boats mooring up alongside the footpath. Thurne Windpump is at the end of the footpath where the Staithe meets the river, and there was plenty to look at when sitting on the seats nearby.
The site is 2 1/2 miles from Potter Heigham which is a bustling village with cafe's, a couple of pubs and you can hire boats by the hour or by the day here. You can reach Potter Heigham by footpath (part of the Weaver's Way National Trail) from Thurne, or it's a 5 minute drive.
We also visited The Bridge PH at Acle and had a lovely breakfast in the garden while overlooking the river. There is also a coffee shop here too.
10 minutes in the car and you are at the beach. The beaches along this stretch of coastline are wonderful. Once you get over the dunes, the sand is soft, if a little stony in places, and as it's usually windy, the waves are great for larking about in, though the beach isn't flat enough for surfing. Further up the coast at Sea Palling, the beach is protected from the sea by a series on man-made mini islands about 150m out into the sea. This makes this beach great if you have small children. For the older children, they hire out jet-skis from one end of this beach.

This campsite is well worth a visit. The site is clean and well managed. The owners are very friendly. There are clean showers with plenty of hot water, clean toilets and a washing up area. We (2 adults, 1 child and a baby) stayed at the start of August for three nights with electric hookup.
We had a wonderful time there was plenty of space for the children to play and adults relax! The pitches are large, we had hook up and a large tent and had loads of space. There has been alot of work put into this campsite and it shows.
The nearby village of Thurne is a ten minute walk with a pub, gift shop and village shop for the essentials. The village is a mooring location for the Norfolk Broads which means you can sit and enjoy the comings and goings of the boats.
Great Yarmouth is ten minutes by car. Overall we had a great time and will definetly go back.

We visited this site from the 20th of August till the 25th. The site is small (don’t let this put you off) however the tents are not too close to neighbours and there is plenty of room. It is located in a small village called Thurne in part of the Norfolk broards. The site its self is down a small lane and so is very quiet with no traffic noise. About a 5 min drive away (maybe 10 mins walk) is a shop and a public house which mainly serves the boaters from the broads but is also convenient for the campsite!
The site is around a 20min drive from Yarmouth but is actually not that far away, the small lanes getting to the village slow you down (very picturesque to drive through though!). There are 2 showers, 1 male 1 female and 3 toilets, 1 male 1 female and a multi-sex. The toilets were always clean and we never had a problem q-ing for the shower in a morning. All in all a nice little site. (Shame about the weather tho!)

Peaceful and quiet site, the owners are a lovely couple and very friendly. The facilities are spotless. I can recommend this campsite for a nice restful holiday with some lovely walks and a stop off at the local pub on the way back. We will certainly be returning. Keith, Sherralyn and family
