A nice site in attractive surroundings, with friendly helpful owners.
The old shower block is very tired, but did have plenty of hot water. The new block is still not completed yet, but is supposed to open in 2014.
Much of the touring site is on a slope, and we chose to use the almost level area overlooking the main site. Hook ups here are limited though.
A good site for families, as there are two play equipment areas, but if you want peace and quiet it might be better to avoid school holiday periods.

This is our second year on a seasonal pitch. Owners are lovely people, very helpful. Site is in a beautiful location with stunning views all around. Play area, garden, laundry, shop with fresh eggs, local ice cream etc. New toilet/shower block opening soon. Site fees are excellent value. We love it here.

What can I say about this site other than it is the best site we visit as a family by far!
We caravan during the school holidays visiting many sites across England and Wales and as parents we feel Erwbarfe is a place to relax as parents and where our children can play and meet new friends in a safe and friendly environment.
We recently visited with our touring caravan August for 1 week. On arrival we were instantly greeted by the owner Priscilla and asked where we would like to pitch our van - we chose up on the hill next to the wigwam which was ideal as we could see the children as they played on the playground and when they were on the camping field exploring with their new friends. The electric and water were easy accessible and having a very well stocked shop on site is ideal. The shop was perfect for the children to get snacks whilst we set up and we used it for essentials over the week saving us going out of the site unnecessarily. We have a shower in our caravan but did use the showers and toilets whilst we were there and as always found the toilets spotless and showers to have hot water whatever time we used them. The owners keep the site immaculate and although they are on hand for new arrivals and caring for visitors during their stays etc they always made an outstanding effort to stop and talk during our visit. The scenery is breathtaking wherever you are on the site and with a local pub nearby, devils bridge and Aberystwyth town just a short drive away, we had a fantastic week as a family. Parents joined in with games and although the children tend to play around the site, the owners are always around making checks and ensuring everyone is safe and happy and suggesting places to visit and see and are always on hand throughout the day for a chat or to give a helping hand :)
Our children have been to this site numerous times and have a blast every time with new children and with the children who stay for longer periods and after trying to take them out for day trips during the week, cannot get them away! We would recommend this site to anyone looking for friendly kind people, a safe and happy place for children to play, amazing areas of outstanding beauty, an immaculate site, a family friendly place to be and a place to sit and relax any time of day.
We will definitely be returning and making many more visits as we all love Erwbarfe!

We too stayed during August 2013 and managed to enjoy the ball games, joining in whenever we could and our 2 girls loved it! They made numerous friends and thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days.
The site was very clean and tidy, the shop had everything you could need and if it wasn't there, the owners made sure you knew where to go to find it, or made sure it was there the next day or even later that day. As soon as a space became vacant, it was tidied up, the grass was mowed and the site was made ready for the next camper.
The new toilet block was not finished, for which the owners were most apologetic, but that was the only blip that I could see.
The playground was basic with swings and a slide, but the children still loved it as it meant that they didn't have to hang around the tent all day. The area that was used for the ball games was right next to our tent, but the children (and us adults when we joined in) were careful not to get too close.
The site is ideally located for visiting Devil's Bridge(5 mins) and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning. There are plenty of activities for families to do in the area and down in the main town Aberystwyth.
I would highly recommend this site and will definitely be visiting again. The owners made you feel very welcome and part of the family. Very nice to see that we weren't just another 'tenant'.
Thank you for a lovely summer holiday!

We spent 5 nights at this site in the first week of August, mainly for mountain biking in the area. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel really welcome by the owners who have children themselves.
Negatives : yes, the existing toilets are old but the showers were always hot (sometimes a bit too hot!) and there's a new block in progress which will be ready for next season.
Positives : It's a real social place, families were out in the evenings chatting, having barbecues and the kids have a little play area with swings and a slide which was lovely for us as our tent was in the same field as the play area and we could keep an eye on them. I did read the other review on here about ball games - yes, there is a lot of cricket, football etc but my kids loved it - they were made to feel really included by the children who had obvioulsy already been there for a while.
Overall a great stay - location too is fab!

This site is in a near perfect location. A really beautiful area. A fair drive from Aberystwyth but if remote is what you want you get it here. The owners were really helpful and friendly, and it was nice to not be subject to a list of rules when we arrived. This I am afraid is where the positives end. I hate leaving a negative review but feel I need to. I agree with the recent posts on this site and would probably not visited if I had see them before we went on holiday.
The site is mainly aimed at statics and seasonals with a few touring pitches. The touring pitches double as the football field. My car and van was hit every five minutes. Despite asking the children to be careful or move elsewhere they persisted. I've decided to go out to avoid the inevitable arguments. The field was very steep so being at the bottom the football repeatedly hit my van and car. The owners must decide if this is a touring caravan field or a football field, one or the other not both.
Then we come on to the toilets. Think of the worst most smelly public toilets you have ever been in. This is the same as the toilet block on site. Very old and certainly not clean - toilet paper all over the floor and dirty floors. We could not bring ourselves to shower here. They were awful, the worst we have ever come across on a site. The one reason we did go to this site was the fact we were aware a new block was being built and thought it would be finished by now - it wasn't.
As others have said this site has the potential to be great but living on a football pitch for a week and really bad smelly toilet block means it is not good. Sorry, but we won't be back.

Just returned from here and felt the need to review the site.
The site itself is perfectly situated to discover mid Wales and me and the family did just that, visiting just about every village and attraction around!. The kids absolutely loved it.
It has the potential to be a perfect site.
However. The new toilets and showers are still not finished, and the current ones are basic, but are cleaned daily
The main issue I have with the site is the touring area.
Whilst there is a large level area for caravans, these are taken by long termers who have the vans there all year round, and there is a separate area for tents at the top of the site, the pitches most tourers were on (including me)were on a sloped area used most days by the younger kids for ball games, and whilst my 2 daughters did make new friends and were out till late most nights, the main tourer area is situated in an area which should either be designated as a caravan area or sectioned off as an area for the kids to play in.
I now have a large dent in my back door of my car, caused by what I suspect was a bike, and had to have words with the kids playing ball games on numerous occasions, having had my car and caravan hit on at least 20 occasions. I am not sure what more I could do to stop this. Also the kids concerned seemed to belong to the long termers, who then proceeded to pick on my 2 girls for what appears to be me having a go at them for damaging my car. I do not believe in bullying of any kind and do think its nice when kids can get out and play together however I had to have words with their parents as seeing my 2 girls upset on holiday due to bullying is not on!
They need to decide if this is going to be a play area or an area for camping, as in 2 weeks I did not once feel I had a relaxing night due to kids either cycling round the caravan or a ball bouncing around and hitting my car and van.
I even considered leaving early but as this was my main holiday put up with it for the sake of the family. I have been to sites that have a bad review on here, that I have felt perfectly happy with as I had a more relaxing holiday than this one!
Will not be going back to this site anytime soon!

Well, we have just returned from a 2 day stay at Erwbarfe and once again we had a lovely relaxing time. I'm really tempted to give this site a terrible review! as we love it so much we want it all to ourselves! The owners are so relaxed and friendly it really adds to the experience. There were several schools doing their Duke of Edinburgh thing and they are camped at the side of the site and weren't a bother at all - perhaps the teachers could show them how to pull the plug out of the sink and put the paper towels in the bin. The site has had a lot of upgrading work done - a new gravel road up through the tenting area to the new Wigwam lodge which fits in perfectly with the surrounding area. They are building a new toilet block in the main part of the site which will suit those moaning minnies who complained about the toilet facilities before. I personally liked the old toilet block, it was always clean and well stocked, but there you go, you can't please everybody and the new block is much bigger. We hope to return next month for another couple of days.

We stayed at this site for 5 days over Whitsun week, the site is in a brilliant location, just a mile from the devils bridge and waterfalls. The scenery is stunning. We had a grass pitch at the top of the site which was perfect for us as it was near the play area so we could watch the kids. There are plenty of water points and electric points all around the site and the pitch we were on (right next to the wigwam) had electric and a water tap.
The little play area, with a slide, swing and climbing Frame kept my children entertained. The owners were incredibly friendly and the site shop was really well stocked considering the size of the site. The toilet block is dated, but seemed clean although we used the facilities in the van, they are currently building a new toilet block nearer to the seasonal pitches which would be a lot more convenient than where the old toilet block is.
There is so much to do in the area we couldn't fit everything in, Aberystwyth is about 25 minutes drive with a nice beach, plenty of shops and pubs as well as a morrisons.
The vale of rheidol railway is in the village which takes you all the way to Aberystwyth and although was quite expensive £47 for the 5 of us and 3 dogs it was worth it to see some of the stunning scenery on the way.
We also visited one of the many forests around the area kept by the forestry commission which had different walks for different abilities, with distances and times clearly marked out, our kids and dogs loved this.
All in all a fantastic site which we would definitely go back to.

After visiting this site we enjoyed it that much we brought a touring caravan and have sited on there. The owners are very welcoming and friendly and are always there to help. The reason we like the site is that all the children get on well together and we know where they are at all times they play on the touring field and a lot of the parents join in the games. There is a new toilet and shower block being built the existing toilets and showers are clean and the water is always hot. The site is nice and clean and well kept. The surrounding area is beautiful with lots to see and do
