Its December, its cold and frosty, and its quiet! Only one other unit on site for one night.
Had a good meal in the Pub in the summer with four great beers served.
This visit only two brews on offer and neither rocked my boat. However you cannot expect a large choice in Winter when the tourist trade has gone home.
The sites facilities where clean and warm so fine for us.

Great site in a superb area.
Pub staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was ok and drinks were good and reasonably priced.
Toilets and showers were clean.
We Cycled on disused rail tracks and walked in the delightful Dovedale. All from the site.
Site was £20 per night, inc EHU.

Had a memorable stay with friends across 3 units at the Waterloo. Had dined here before, but not camped. So already knew the food and beer were good.
A plus this time was a beer festival + fund-raising day (for mountain rescue) on the Saturday, which was well attended by the locals, and a good time was had by all.
The site is sloping, with the pitches level-ish. So take some blocks/chocks. All the water and waste and bins are down the bottom, so take this into account if mobility isn't the best. Though its not that far for anyone.
The toilets are very clean - never looked at the showers. The leccy is reliable. We were charged £20 a night with EHU, which is pretty good nowadays.
The people running the pub are very efficient, friendly and welcoming. Either in the pub, or relating to the campsite. This being near to numerous walks. A favourite being up a track over the tops to nearby Hartington. Which has a few shops, pubs, and cafes for anything you may need.
A downside of our stay, was some folk in tents, who had the seemingly compulsory campfire, that smoked the whole place out one night. Why this is allowed nowadays is beyond me. As its totally anti-social. And nothing to do with any requirements for heat or cooking. Especially in August!
That aside, the stay was great. And numpties like this would not stop us returning, as it could happen anywhere.

Everyone at the Waterloo Inn went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. The food was good plentiful and good value. The beer and wine were were tip top and not over priced.
The location was great for walking and the scenery was beautiful. The showers and toilets were clean and always plenty of hot water.
All the staff were friendly.
Our group of 8 and 2 dogs will definitely be returning.

Nice Site at Rear of the Pub. Hardstanding with EHU.
Great location for walking, close proximity to Tissington Trail ( cycle track ).
Within 400 yards of local bus to Buxton / Ashbourne ( aprox every two hours). Caught bus to Buxton and walked back ( 13 miles ), next day got bus to Ashbourne and walked back ( 10 miles), used Cycle Trail / footpaths virtually all the way.
Good Food available at Pub ( Good Covid / take away process operating ).
Very Helpful Staff.
We will revisit.
Nice Derbyshire Village location.

Had a wonderful 3 day break.
Lovely site situated behind the Waterloo Inn. The pitches were gravel and all with electric. Surrounded by trees making it very relaxing and pretty.
We booked food at the pub for the 3 days we were there which was great value (discount given) and very tasty. The staff couldn't do enough to help and asked if we wanted another drink when they saw our glasses were empty.
They were friendly and it was great to see Janice who use to work at a village pub nearby. There was a very helpful young man (sorry, can't remember his name) who showed us to our pitch and chatted with us throughout our visit.
The site has a really good set up for "covid", including a one way system in and out of pub and regular cleaning of facilities and a booking system for showers.
The village of Biggin is beautiful with Hartington close by where you can buy food and gifts. There are some lovely walks nearby, including the Tissington trail which you can get on from Biggin.
Will definitely be back and look forward to the restart of the weekly quiz and entertainment.

We stayed here with 2 teens and another friend with adults only.
Overall the site was great, The pitches were gravel, which they were adding too. We were both twin wheelers so the pitches were a little small, but we managed ok. Only issue we had was the new gravel pile was on the road for the exit so when we had to leave, the turn round space was way too small and we got a little stuck due to the wet under ground.
Toilets are open all day and night which is great, the wash areas is suitable, along with the toilet waste area.
Ladies shower was warm and and cubicle ok, but there is not enough room for 2 ladies to be drying and getting dressed (way too personal), best to go with your family/friends.
The pub was very welcoming, we received 20% off our first meal and over the 2 nights were tried quite a bit of the menu, which was all lovely. There's a nice open fire and dogs are allowed so lovely atmosphere.
There are plenty of walk paths should you like to walk in the area. Other than that nothing much there.

This is a gem of an old english pub which is full of character and charm. It's not a posh modern chain pub just an old local pub serving well kept beer and extremely good pub food.
The caravan site itself is horseshoe shaped with outside full of seasonal Van's some look like they need some tlc but we have had a rough winter. The middle is for tourers with some hard standing but only for Van's rest of area where you walk is grass. Not a lot of room between Van's so would feel a bit hemmed in summer if using outside space.
Toilets were excellent clean and accessible 24hrs so were separate showers.
Pub staff very friendly and helpful. Entertainment most weekends so it gets rammed.
5mins drive from cromford.

Received very friendly reception on arrival and was shown pitch & location of services. We ate in the pub on the first night and found the food very good, again service very friendly. The pub had a very cosy feel and served good hand pulled beer.
Showers are near the entrance, used once but didn't like 2 showers sharing one drying area. However, the water was piping hot and the showers clean.
There are several pitches taken by seasonal tourers and felt some let the site down due to condition, i. E. , mouldy awning roof, overgrown around the vans.
Also I don't think there is a ruling on when to be quiet at night as 2 large parties behind us were still playing music and talking at 11.30pm.
Good value for what we paid and in a beautiful area with walks from the site.
