What a lovely site! Set behind a nice pub and lots of walks nearby. The site was big and had hardstanding pitches. The showers were a bit basic but clean. The only downside was the tap wasn't working to brush my teeth but luckily I could do that in the caravan.
I Would definitely recommend this site for lots of lovely walks and bike rides so ideal if you have a dog (but watch the chickens!)
The staff in the pub were really helpful and were eager for feedback on the site.

Fantastic little site, set behind a small local pub that serves fantastic food! Dog friendly although dogs aren't allowed in the pub. Staff very pleasant and set in a great location for exploring the local area. Not much close by with regards to shops etc. But who needs that when you have countryside like that outside your unit. Showers and toilets are quite basic but fully functional. Only complaint would be that there were chickens roaming around the site which was a bit of a concern with our Border Terrier! Will definitely be going back.

We came to this site from another close by that was a bit to crowded for us.
This was lovely and quiet. Some 'permanent' tourers so it wasn't busy because they 'weren't at home' at the time we camped. Although it says '7 pitches' on the page there's actually about 20 but I'd say 8 had 'seasonal' residents.
We have a 5 and a 2 and a half year old and it was fine for them. No kids playground but we have a football and frisbee and they were happy.
The pub was great and the food was very nice, even the kids liked it and they don't eat very much. Lol
You just have to remember that it's a country pub so the opening hours are probably different from the norm so booking in or leaving has to be organised around their time (no problem for us but possibly a problem if you want to arrive at 10am. :-)
We even persuaded my in-laws to come and camp with us in their tent and they thought it was great too.
As we have a Tourer we didn't use the 'facilities' too much but we didn't have a problem with them and found them clean and adequate.
The village was lovely and we'd definitely go there again while the kids are small as it was lovely and peaceful with very nice people.
Only problems:
No TV reception so you'd have to have a good aerial (didn't cause a problem for 2 nights as we had plenty of kids DVD's).
Wi-fi is very weak so no Internet access (no problem, nice to ignore work for a couple of nights).

We visited this lovely site a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed. The area is beautiful, the pub serves good real ales and great food. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, the owners couldn't do enough for us to make us feel at home. We'll definitely be returning, soon.

Very good location for walking. Small campsite with a few resident caravans. Friendly and welcoming, although you must remember to book a table at the pub as they get full quickly and they finish serving at 9pm. They offer breakfast early as well, which is handy if you don't feel like cooking, or of it's raining and cooking is not an attractive proposition.
The facilities are basic. There are 2 showers each for ladies and men, each with a door code for access. The loo is the pub loo, so you're sharing with the pub guests when you're brushing your teeth and there's only one sink. But it's only about £5/6 so all in all good value for money.
There's not much else in Biggin-by-Hartington. But the walking is fabulous.

We arrived 5.30pm Thurs evening, having prebooked and paid a deposit. On arrival no sign of life, pub closed, no information anywhere, at the rear lots of empty pitches, so we pulled up and started to pitch van, legs down, hook up etc. 30 minutes later a woman walks up to us and asks if we have booked, we say yes and deposit paid.
She says we must move pitch, no reason other than they cannot be open 24/7. Now, had we not had commitments, we would have up and left full stop, but a team of Duke of Edinburgh candidates were relying on our support, so we stayed!
The facilities for £13.50 a night were basic, to say the least. We had to request access codes - the showers were fine if you were intimate with your fellow shower user, i.E two showers; one change/drying area!
We will not be returning.

Went for a weekend and thought behind a pub would be good and it was apart from the facilities which were not the best. The toilet was in the pub and the shower block very simple. Could do with a bit of a revamp as there was nowhere to get dressed and you had to wait if someone else was using the other shower, but the landlord in the pub was very nice.
The food is well recommended with a good choice

Nice little site, off the main road. Very helpful owners. However facilities were poor. The shower only produced luke warm water, at a trickle. Toilet was on a coded system, the code we were given would not work during the night. Good area's for caravans but only a small sloping area for tents.
Lovely walks in the area from the site and close to the cycle trails. Cost was £6.50 for a two man tent per night. Two pints at the Pub was close to nearly £6. The meal was sufficient though but not brilliant. If we go again it will be in our caravan which has better facilities.

This site is much improved due to the fact that it has been taken over by a very enthusiastic family. They are campers themselves so understand our requirements. The pub is being redecorated and the toilets actually smell nice and clean! The food in the pub is all home cooked and tastes wonderful. We will be visiting again. We were here for the St Valentines weekend and there was a quiz on the Sunday night, we were made to feel very welcome by the staff and the local people. Definitely to be recommended.
