I have visited this site over several years. The main attractions for me are the lovely walking in Biggindale and cycle roots nearby non of which are too demanding for the young or less energetic. The site is small and very quiet which suits me. The pub provides basic food which is fine perhaps for one evening, there are however plenty of other restaurants within driving distance should you need something more than basic pub grub. The pub serves good beer and has a friendly atmosphere. Facilities are basic and could do with upgrading but are adequate and clean. Overall I like the small, quiet and friendly atmosphere which is why I return

We go to this site regularly and have done so for the past 10yrs. It is a great night when the live bands and karaoke are on. Every one knows how to have a good timeand are very friendly. It is a lovely family site and all the children play happily together. Their is a 10 minute drive to Parwick where there is a spar shop for all your needs, cigs beers, toiletries and food. 10 minute drive to the chippy.Near Hartington. And a petrol station nearby at Newhaven. We love its social network with the local community and people we meet on the site and the new landlady and landlord (Stu & Claire) are doing a great job to meet every ones needs.Keep up the good work!

Myself, my sister and our 2 friends went to Biggin and stayed at Waterloo Inn. At first this did seem a very unfriendly place towards teenagers and the entertainment was practically none so we thought we might be bored. However once we met some people we settled in and had a fantastic time. This was mine and my sisters first time camping and would go back to Waterloo Inn again. We plan to in October! The facilities are somewhat basic but are clean. The washing up area could be bit better as could the flooring in the showers. My friend Sarah has Cerebral Palsy so the showers were not really safe enough for her due to there being no mats in the showers. The pub was excellent although a tad pricey for a teenage budget! the food was excellent and the size of the meals was excellent for what you paid. There are electric hookups and we were able to ask for one at last minute. The site itself was nice and although it got a bit crowded it did still remain fairly peaceful at night. One thing that we did not like was the fact that children were allowed to play unsupervised on the grounds of the site and the owners allowed this which should not have been the case since the camping traffic does flow through the site often. All in all a good site and worth every penny I paid! Glad to have gone to Biggin!

Not worth the money. Not by a long shot. £13.50 a night with hook-up for a site with one toilet that's shared with the pub and 2 showers for each sex. The sink in the showers couldn't bath a newborn child whilst you have to be REALLY friendly to shower whilst someone else is in there. Pot washing facilities consist of one sink that has 1/2 sink full of hot water at any one time. The site itself is fine but the facilities and the pub are nothing to shout about.

Stayed here last weekend as we wanted a campsite with a shower and a pub nearby that did food. The Waterloo Inn fitted the bill, although the food is v basic, chicken & chips, gammon & chips, veg lasagne etc. We did ended up going somewhere else to eat the second night as we wanted something a bit more interesting.
I booked the week before and was more than happy with the pitch we were given for out two 4-man tents however people getting there later than us didn't have so much room, but then at 7.50 a night don't think you can complain.
You must get a key to use the toilets out of hours and the showers at all, think this is to stop the campsite across the road from using them. There was no-one up to hand it in to and get our deposit from on the Sunday morning (9am) so we traded with another camper :-) I think having a pub open until 1.30am and running a campsite is tiring work. So overall a reasonable basic site with basic food and cheap wine (6.95 bottle of Stowells Chenin Blanc!)

Been here a couple of times mainly to try out new tent and stuff because I only live 10 miles away in Macclesfield! Very friendly site (got into an earnest chat with the gardener even before I got the tent up!) Site backs on to a really nice pub that seems to have struck a good balance between a 'local' and an eating establishment.Decent real ale on last time I called.Facilities I suppose are just basic..but clean and perfectly OK. Stand pipe for water and access to the pub toilets even after hours..which is handy! Very quite but only 2 miles from the main road.Hartington,Buxton and Ashbourne all within easy (car) reach.Beware no local shops.Excellent small basic site.Probably gets very busy at peak times and as far as I know operates on a first-come-first served basis.Highly reccomended
