Late September visit for 2 nights, stayed in the woodland area,
great facilities on site & warm welcome on arrival,
pitches nicely separated by the woods with plenty of nearby walks for the dogs, little disturbance from other campers with a strict evening noise ruling, some distant noise from M20 & Eurostar line but not enough to distract from the calm of the site.
Small but good on site shop selling wood/kindling & local produce, very clean & eco friendly 'facilities' play area for kids and set parking area away from tents, only a short distance to pitches with trolley available if needed.
Really enjoyed this site & will definitely book again, lots of local attractions etc to get you off site during the day if you want, but enough space & privacy if you want to just sit out & enjoy the views & local walks.

This was our 3rd visit to Welsummer and we plan to go again before the end of the summer. We stayed in a pre-erected bell tent: a nice easy way to camp with our 3 small children. The campsite is fantastic for children: a large playing field, woodlands and orchard to discover, chickens and rabbits to look at.
The facilities are as befit an eco campsite plus more: constant hot water, clean showers and toilets.
The surrounding area has a lot to offer: Leeds Castle, Minnis Bay, Canterbury, a wonderful working farm and cider producer (Badgers Hill Farm) which has a play area and lots of animals to look at including wallabies, on the road to Canterbury plus the King's Head in Grafty Green has a treehouse in the garden which our children love to play in (it is an easy walk through the woods and country lanes).
The gorgeous French touches and quirky bits are the best and the owners Laura and Med are very friendly and welcoming. Not to forget the fresh flowers in our tent and the homemade cinnamon muffins given to us on our departure. A truly lovely experience to be repeated soon!

Our absolute favourite campsite in the UK, and we have been to many!. We have been to this site with kids, and without kids and would strongly recommend it.
The site never seems that busy, and the owners will do everything they can to accommodate, they are very friendly and always happy to stop and chat. The facilities are basic, but think the comments below are a little harsh.
I have never had to queue for the toilet or the wash basin, and now they have added a new toilet block which is lovely and means men and women can toilet and shower separately.
The best thing about this campsite is the location, right by an apple grove and a lovely walk to the Pepper Box, and fantastic pub. For those who want to avoid direct sunlight the woods are enchanting, with lots of little paths to take those who want a wander.
Strongly recommended.

I visited for a weekend arriving about 10pm Friday evening. The site owner showed us our pitch and said to pay in the morning as it was so late. We forgot to go to the office on the way out to the miniature steam railway from Hythe to Dungeness (which I thoroughly recommend) and he came to our pitch in the evening to collect payment and was very charming about our lapse.
The site is lovely - we camped on a pitch called 'Bluebell Copse' in the woods which was very peaceful.
The two showers in the family bathroom are hot, and there is a washing up point. It is a perfect site for families - lots of children running around playing happily together.
They do tea/coffee in the shop in the morning but I just bought free range eggs to bring home. We visited the battle of Britain Museum in Hawkinge today which was excellent.
The site is fairly small but has lots of charm- it has fire pits (which we didn't use but lots of people did) whihc I think added to the friendly atmosphere. I hope to visit this site again.

We stayed here, for two nights in late september and loved it so much we came back for another two nights the first week of october.
On our first visit, the pop up tent we had broke while giving me a fat lip in the process of 'popping up' luckily Med (the camp owner) had a three man tent he rented us for only five pounds. We camped in the woods which was lovely and secluded.
The beautiful Leeds Castle is really close by so we visited that, I'm not sure what else is around.
The Family bathroom was nice and the whole campsite is set out in a really relaxing way. We loved the chickens and loved the early morning wake up calls. On our second visit we stayed in one of their pre erected tents, which are amazing, everything we needed was there for us, bbq, cooking stuff cutlery and beds!
We are most definitely going back in sept 2012!

We stayed at the site in July 2011. The site is clean and tidy. You can stay in the main field or in the woodland area.
The bathroom facilities are very basic with one male and one female toilet, I feel this is too small for a campsite this size.
There is two showers which, correctly stated run off of a wood burning stove, this provided hot water, until someone turned on the tap at the washing up sinks which completely cut off the water in the shower. Not fun!
The shop stocks the very basics, no bread and no beans, however if you need a candle you will be in luck! The site owners are pleasant and like to keep their site environmentally friendly.
They promote at 22:30 they like the noise to be at a minimum which I strongly agree with.
All in all, a reasonably priced campsite in beautiful surroundings with limited facilities.

We enjoyed our stay here. The site is v v small - two very small fields, and a small but lovely woodland.
No parking next to tents. You need to park your car in a different field and transport your gear on a trolley to your pitch - an additional trolley would help, or perhaps more thought by families who load item by item as they clear it up, monopolising the trolley for ages!
Facilities very basic, but individual and quirky in style. Not for the very shy - the two toilets are in a unisex block and separated by a ply screen! There is a dedicated bathroom and shower for parents with very small children and babies.
There were lots of families with v small children, teens would perhaps prefer the greater scope of the woods in other similiar sites.
The owners were lovely, and did patrol in pursuit of noise, which turned out to come from a local celebrity party!
Camping amongst the trees enjoying a campfire is far more important than smart facilities, I wish there were more of this kind of campsite in the UK.

A little gem of a campsite, truly is. Just come back from a weekend there with my wife & our 3 year old Son & we all loved every minute of it. Our son certainly was not short of friends to play with. Very child friendly place.
Facilities could be better as others have said but we thought that the way that the campsite wraps you up in it's arms from the moment you enter the gate & the warm welcome & hospitality from the family that own the place, more than makes up for it.
We all can't wait to go back.

We booked to stay in the pre-erected bell tent over Easter there was me and my partner and our four children 19, 15 and 8 yr old twins, during our stay we asked if we could stay longer the owners Med and Laura went out of their way to fit us in for an extra night, and throughout our stay they were always friendly and helpful.
The bell tent was roomy with some lovely touches, and the firepit became the heart of our holiday, toasted marshmallows was the order for every evening! Learning to cook on the campfire was a real experience and was camping as it should be!
The campsite is set on two small fields with around 12 pitches that are not too close to each other each with their own firepit. Next to these fields were several more small pitches in the woods which looked very pretty as the bluebells were in flower.
There is a large field beside the pitches for the children (and adults) to play on, all children and most adults got involved with rounders and football and cricket on our visit. And it gave piece of mind knowing the children had some place safe to play, the children also loved exploring the woods and we all went on several walks during our stay!
Whilst we were staying we experienced some very hot weather and Laura put on the sprinkler for all the children to run through to cool down, it was a joy to see and hear the children's laughter.
On Easter Sunday all the children woke up to a visit from the easter bunny as the owners had gone around and left eggs all over the campsite for the children to find, they were hanging from trees and hiding in holes again it was wonderful to see the children having fun! such a lovely gesture from the owners!
The owners own free range eggs were delicious and I highly recommend them.
Ultimately this little Gem of a campsite is brilliant, it isnt for the party camper or for those looking for shiny bathrooms, IT IS for those who are looking for REAL camping with log fired water heating, real campfires, and beautiful surroundings!
For us it was a truly organic experience!

We stayed at this wonderful site last year with a few friends and love the place and hope to visit again this year. The only groans would be that they really need to improve the toilets and hot water facilities. We paid around £25 per night for our pitch (which is fairly expensive)and it was not very pleasant going to the loo when someone is next to you divided by a sheet of plywood. The hot water was never really working and the showers were cold. When the site is up to capacity it really needs extra toilets & showers or they do need to invest in a larger or another wash & toilet block.
Apart from that it really is a wonderful place to stay
