Just back from our second visit and it just as great as it was first time. This time we came with more friends and they enjoyed it as much as we do and will be returning again soon.
I can say that you are spoilt beyond belief hot showers fridges hot tub what more can you ask for! the site is so child friendly and safe as no vehicle's are aloud on the site.
The nearest town is only 2min drive away with every thing you need, patisserie order taken in the evening for delivery in the morning.
You won't be disappointed staying here.

Just returned from a weeks stay at chateau monfreville. First time in france camping and think we may have just been spoilt rotten for when we plan to head out there again. This site is wonderful. I had my reservations after I booked thinking this May just be far too rustic for me but oh boy it has taught me a lesson. All the good reviews I went by here were that and so much more. Can not find fault with anything. Paul and Zoe are great hosts and hope they realise how much staying at the chateau was not just about the scenery etc, but also about how they run the place counts in making us feel so welcome. We will certainly be going back and will always recommend them, especially if anyone is a first timer to france chateau monfreville is a gentle way of easing in to french camping experience.

This is an absolutely great small site, we stayed for four nights and are already planning to return. Friendly owners, great facilities, idyllic setting about 10 minutes drive from isigny. Handy for Bayeux, the Normandy beaches, and the world's best butter and cream.
One word of warning. If you have small children of the 'adventurous' type, the lake is in the middle of the campsite and is not fenced. It is surrounded by long grass, and would be difficult for a small child to fall in, but not impossible. If this would bother you, save the site for when your kids can swim - but if you like this part of France, do visit! You won 't be disappointed!

Have just returned from our 3rd visit to the campsite of Le Chateau De Monfreville and as always, received an enormously warm welcome. Zoe & Paul are, quite frankly, the nicest of people and will try to accommodate all needs. The trusty tractor awaits you to take all of your camping stuff down to the spacious field, making the site a joy with no vehicles. Despite being full, it never feels overcrowded with plenty of space afforded to all tents. The loos and showers are clean and beautifully appointed, totally in keeping with the chateau environment, and despite it being a busy weekend over D-Day, the showers were queue free.
A little issue on our first night was the 'snorer' in the tent next to us but a quick word to Zoe & Paul and we were free to move to a much quieter spot.
There is a lovely honesty shop with homemade jams, fruit, loo rolls and marshmallows which are perfect for the firepits that are readily available.
The campsite is perfectly placed for those wishing to discovery the history of the D-Day landings with museums, cemeteries and miles and miles of beaches that are beautiful but tinged with sadness.
It is a beautiful area and I couldn't recommend Le Chateau De Monfreville more highly. It is the perfect campsite which has us feeling sad to leave and yearning to book our next visit.

The kids and I had an brilliant time camping at Chateau de Monfreville this summer, despite some questionable weather. We stayed in a beautiful (though tiny) roulotte before pitching our tent for a week.
The campsite really is *idyllic*. There's a natural swimming pond, a hot tub, fab bathroom and washing up facilities (and fridges and freezers and charging sockets) for campers, rope swings, volleyball net, a table tennis table and table football. The children disappear every morning and - usually with a slightly reluctant break for an excursion - fall exhausted into bed when the sun goes down. And then the Milky Way comes out.
The bread fairy delivers your choice of bread products every morning, and there's an honesty shop with all sorts of things to make life easy if you run out of the basics. On a Thursday night they serve a feast of moules frites (or sausages for moule haters).
There are fab beaches within easy reach, with interesting visitor centres (apparently) about their role in WW2. There are loads of interesting places to visit. I was amazed at how much my children (aged 8 and 11) enjoyed visiting the Bayeux tapestry - the audio guide was brilliant. It's a wonderful area, and it was an easy drive of around 4 hours from Calais.
This was an amazing holiday, so we've booked to stay again with friends and family in tow next summer. My children can't wait to get back there.

Well, what can we say apart from that we had the most AMAZING camping holiday at Le chateau De Monfreville. Already booked for next year. It was totally relaxing and something for everyone. Our daughter cried on the way home as she had met & made friends with some great kids. The site was very child friendly. The facilities were out of this world & catered for all our needs. Can't wait for August 2014.

Just returned home from 1 nights camping at chateau montfreville and wow what a place!
I sent off enquiries to 4 campsites and chateau montfreville was the only one to respond to my enquiry which they did first thing the next morning!
On arrival we were met by the owners - British and very friendly! They showed us all around and was very knowledgeable about the local area and supermarkets.
The facilities here were fantastic and although we didn't get time to use the hot tub and swimming pond we would definitely use them in the future. The owner's daughter was also very friendly and took my little 2 year old under her wing and we hardy saw him as he was off playing!
They have a very well stocked honesty shop on site which sells everything from jams and vegetables to charcoal and logs with everything in between!
There are animals here too which is great for the kids - just watch out that mungo the cat isn't asleep in your tent when you go to sleep!
At 8:30 in the morning the 'bread fairy' delivers your preordered French delicacies.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and owners - we had a problem with our bill and even though the owners were busy sorting out arrangements for a wedding that was taking place there the next day they dropped what they were doing in order to sort my issues!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and my 2 year old is already asking when we can go back!
Thank you to all at Chateau Montfreville!

Think of any ten or so superlatives and all of them will describe how good this site is. After arriving hot and a bit tired from cycling from Cherbourg we were given a very warm welcome from the owners, I think they were in the middle of dinner.
They kindly gave us a very welcome cold beer and let us 'phone our families in England as our batteries on the mobiles had run out.
The website does not do justice to Chateau de Monfreville, it is a true gem, set as it is in beautiful countryside.
A welcome frog chorus in the morning and a goodnight chorus from them at dusk, ducks, hens, herons, bats, dragon flies, damsel flies, donkey, horse, pony, Hector, cats.
A lake, natural fresh water swimming pool, hot tub.
All this on your doorstep, amazing.
Good company on the moules frites nights. True heaven.
Thanks also to Terry from Doveridge for the beers and company.
It is very easy to understand why there so many returners to this site. It is going to be extremely difficult to better this.
Thank you so much for everything.

Just returned from 2 weeks in this brilliant site. On day 2 my eldest child wanted to know if we could come back next year!
We were welcomed warmly and allowed to choose our pitch. We picked a spot in the far corner of the field, and our nearest neighbours were some 10-15 metres away for most of our stay. The site was mostly level, and surrounded by trees which provided good shelter.
We made good use of the swimming pond, which was very refreshing given the hot weather, and also the adjacent hot tub. The moules-frites nights were excellent; yummy food and a great chance to socialise with fellow campers. The children were made very welcome by Molly and often vanished for hours at a time.
The showers and toilets were very smart and kept clean, with plenty of hot water at no extra charge. And the large fridge and freezer were very handy.
There are plenty of things to do in the area. Our furthest trip was to Cherbourg approx one hour away and we loved Utah and Omaha beaches.
All in all, a great, relaxing holiday, lovely site, on our last night there was a volleyball match involving the whole site and a fine time was had by all. Thanks Paul and Zoe for a fab time.

Loved this place! Such a wonderful atmosphere, it really was something special.
The children felt right at home (and the beautiful wallpaper in the ladies made me feel at home too!).
Only possible downside was that the swimming pond didn't really work for us. It was very cold, slippery and green (as was the hot tub). It didn't seem to bother most people though.
The owners work so hard to create a holiday atmosphere which was much appreciated. We will definitely be back.
