A perfectly peaceful campsite. Clun Valley Campsite is excellently clean and well managed. I drove to the site and then spent a week using it as my base for touring all around the area on my bicycle. This proved to be an excellent choice of location, perfectly suiting my needs. A great place to stay for my cycling trip.
The owners are very helpful and concerned that everything is in order. The field is maintained in a spotlessly clean condition and all the equipment in the washrooms and washing areas are properly labelled for safety and the well-being of campers and their children.
There are limited facilities in Newcastle, but knowing that adds to the attractions of this site. The information about the site and the local area are accurate.

Excellent site in small village with one pub providing reasonable food. The owners are lovely people and keep the toilets, etc exceptionally clean.
Free range duck and chicken eggs available most days laid by birds on site in fenced area. Children are allowed to enter the pen to feed the birds. Lovely views from the site which is about 100 yards from Offa's Dyke. One of the best sites of many that we have ever visited.
Village of Clun is about 5 minutes drive away with several pubs, tearooms, convenience store and Clun Castle.
Will definitely stay at this site again when next in the area.

We have just got back from our 4th visit to Clun Valley campsite.
There is a group of 4 families that go camping every year for a long weekend usually on the 2nd May bank holiday.
Each year we have seen how the facilities have improved, this year they have enclosed the kitchen sink area.
The showers and toilets are always clean and tidy. There are lots of information leaflets for attractions in the surrounding areas.
The pub is a couple of minutes walk from the campsite but is only open from 7pm-11pm.
Shops can be found in Clun and a bit farther afield in Bishops Castle. There is also a great pub called The Boars Head in Bishops Castle which serve great bar food all day.
Dawn is a great host and will always accommodate the campers. This is the first time that we have had an electric hook up which we only bought last week and hadn't booked this in advance. With a bit of rejigging we were able to have the electric. However when booking always specify if it is required so as not to be disappointed.
We are going to be booking again next year, this is a real gem of a campsite set in a beautiful location.

This was our first time to the campsite but it certainly won't be the last - we absolutely loved it.
The views surrounding the site are beautiful, you feel very secluded and apart from the rather vocal sheep and lambs it is a very peaceful and relaxing place to be.
We lost a few tent pegs due to the ground being a bit stony so you may need to pack a few extra (definitely remember to pack a mallet) however other than that the field is kept in really good condition and it was a joy to camp there. The showers and washing up areas were spotless throughout our visit.
The owner (Dawn) was incredibly friendly and amazingly helpful, nothing was too much of an effort for her and she made us feel truly welcome. We had emailed her a few times before our holiday and got a fantastic amount of information about the site and what to do in the local area.
There is a great pub 5 minutes walk from the campsite. Opening times were limited to evenings only whilst we were there but the food was brilliant and there were some nice local ales on tap.
This campsite is perfect if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday and caters for campers and caravanners alike - we are really pleased we found it and hope that this review helps others to do the same!

This was our second visit to Clun Valley Campsite both on August Bank Holiday, and as per our previous visit it was very relaxed, friendly and clean.
The camping tariff is very good as are the facilities, the extra showers added makes for less queueing.
Getting to the site early is a must as parts of the camping field are on a lean.
Surrounding area is absolutely beautiful, the local pub is very friendly. There are many local walks around the area, some of which are linear and others are Circular.
Food at the local pub 'the Crown Inn' is a must to try, booking is advisable. We really enjoyed the Carvery.
There is no mobile phone signal in the valley but that makes for a peaceful weekend.
We enjoyed the friendly warm hospitality so much we plan on returning to the site again.

We've just spent the most wonderful long weekend on this fantastic site and can't wait to go back again! As mentioned in other reviews, Dawn and her family are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble (even lending us a bulb when the one in our light went!)
The site itself has the most beautiful view and the toilets and shower were always immaculate and well stocked. As there were a few familys in our group we were allowed to camp in a circle which was brilliant and so unlike commercial sites with rigid sterile plots!
The kids loved all the space to play and the chickens and ducks were a big hit. There is so much to do in the surrounding area it really is a great holiday spot.

The shower and toilet where spotless.Plenty of room for the children to play in the middle of the campsite. The crown pub just a short walk away.We booked a meal and the food was good value,we had a dog so they let us eat in the games room.Food was fab.We travelled in to clun approx 4 miles away, walked up clun castle.Would visit again a little gem

We only picked this site because it was close to Craven Arms where our eldest son works. But I'm glad we did. Having read the previous reviews you are always a little bit wary of believing everything you read but I must say all the good reviews are correct and then some.
If you are after the huge list of facilities at the large national chains this is not for you but if you want peace and tranquillity in a place with stunning views then this is the site for you.
From the moment we arrived the owners couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful with inside knowledge of what to do and where to go.
I think we had the best plot on the site right at the top of the large field ( plenty of room to play ball with the kids ).
The toilet and shower block were perfectly adequate and always clean even down to soap and toilet rolls (I believe the plan is to update the facilities over the winter)
The only drawback was the local pub that didn't open at lunchtimes but only down the road I would certainly recommend the White Horse Inn in Clun and you can walk it off looking at the castle ruins.
All in all a first rate site that I will certainly go back to sooner rather than later.

As we arrived on a bank holiday monday there were about 20 units (most of whom were packing up), but by mid afternoon it was 2 other tents and a caravan who had extended its stay. We loved this child & dog friendly site.
It is a 'work in progress' site so the washing up area is yet to be covered and there is limited electric hookup pitches which they are intending to tackle shortly. The toilets and shower and were kept very clean at all times.
The field is on a slight slope but smooth and the grass was nice and short while we stayed. A big area in the centre of the field was used for frisbee / cricket / football by the well behaved children.
The village is tiny and has no shops at all, so no papers, sweets & no last minute bits n bobs. There is Newtown over the border in Wales which has all the shops you could need or Clun (6m) which has small local shops. The village does however have a pub, The Crown Inn, which only opens in the evening. Deb & the locals made us and our dog very welcome. They offer excellent home cooked food and there is a wide range of beers all at a reasonable price. It also has a pay phone, which we used as there was no mobile phone signal at all.
There is not a lot left to say, the place is quite, clean, friendly, very good value for money, and we will be going back again for sure to try to walk some more of offa's dyke.

Toilets were very clean so were the showers, this was our first camping trip and it was a very nice site, close to Offa's Dyke for walking and a good pub out the back gate.
Only a small gripe if you don't get in quick you end up on a slope and fall out of bed. Owners were very pleasant and helpful will be going back again.
