We had a family camp consisting of 2 Caravans and 5 Tents and had a really good time, the ground drains quite well, and there are some basic supplies available from the reception,
Although we didn't have a problem with the showers as mentioned before there are only 2 in each block and there would be a wait at busy times however this is just a mild issue and the site is well placed for a quiet camp with lots to do nearby.

This is the best site I have been to for many years. The site wardens were absolutely lovely and made us feel like family. Everything was immaculately clean and well maintained.
Only down side was two showers and three lavatories in the ladies were not enough for the number of pitches.
However would definitely highly recommend and will most definitely return.
Beautiful area with loads to do too.

We had a group booking for a 50th Birthday and the site were fabulous helping us organise and book in a big group of friends. The wardens on site were really friendly and helpful.
Fantastic to be able to have campfires. The site is in a lovely location and the facilities great and very clean. Its about an hour to walk to Dovedale ( a lovely walk).
We ate one night at the Okeshot Arms, lovely people and very nice food.

Great location for visiting Alton Towers only 10 mins away, Ashbourne is 10 min drive also.
Facilities still remained very clean despite a wet soggy and muddy stay in our tent and had plug sockets for straighteners / hairdryer etc. They have a freezer in the pot wash area for ice blocks, this is free and very handy.
The pitches are flat with a field including electric hook up and a field without.
There is a pub about 1 mile away which we didn not visit but nothing else within walking distance.
I couldn't see that the site stocked any items to purchase.
This is our third visit to common end farm and will be our last. Unfortunately the site allowed big groups to pitch together and we were next to one of them. They had a full disco going on from about 10 pm before someone got a guitar out and they started singing. At 2am my husband had to go out and ask them to keep the noise down, he ended up asking them 3 times but it didn't stop. It was nearly 3am before I stopped hearing the shouting, laughing and screaming. They were the only ones on site who were awake. I was disappointed that the on site wardens in a caravan only a few meters away did not speak to the group about their behaviour. We left feeling very tired and disappointed.

This was a lovely site and it was brilliant to not have the restrictions that a lot of sites seem to enforce that take the point of camping away. It was great to see families enjoying themselves playing ball games etc.
The only downside we found were the showers. They did not seem adequate or enough of them as there were only 2 in each toilet block. This may of been highlighted more because of how many people were on site for the bank holiday weekend.
I would not hesitate to go back and stay at this site again.
This site is ideally situated for Ashbourne and Dovedale and has access to lots of foot paths and there is a pub nearby

Fabulous Campsite with large pitches and Friendly staff - Could do with a couple more showers in the Clean and welcoming Shower/Toilet block.
It was brilliant if you needed to keep things frozen as there is a freezer on site for the public to use. Make sure you label your items :)
We all had a great time :)

Great warden who accommodated us on a good pitch despite being very busy
Good for kids and families as there is enough field space for them to enjoy themselves and the log baskets you can rent is a great thought
Toilets clean and easy to fill up with water for motorhome
Lovely views from one field school is however only open at weekends and generally do not accommodate larger motor homes
Not the cheapest site and no local facilities within easy walking distance

Lovely site easy to get to in quite a large motorhome
We had hook up the first night and the very helpful friendly owners and wardens found us a spot to park without hook up on the second night
Good dog walk spotless toilets one field had a fantastic view. The warden is in a caravan on the field so although it is a lively site with children enjoying themselves playing ball games etc and people having bbqs or using the fire baskets what you can hire you feel confident that there will be no untoward trouble it excessive noise too latest night
There is some road noise but it didn't bother us
Recommend and will visit again

I can confirm what most of the other reviews say, a basic but very good site. The owners & the manager was very friendly and helpful, we had one of the 16 amp hook ups and no problems with tripping the circuit breakers.
The toilet and shower block were clean with plenty of hot water. Two large fields for the kids to play in
Overall good value
We would return again to this site

We have just returned from a 1 night stop over here whilst looking for wedding venues in the Peak District. It is a lovely site, with brilliant views.
We booked very last minute (the night before) online and all the booking was very easy and straight forward. When we arrived we had a nice welcome and were told that we would be in the Pretty field, which was in deed pretty.
The site was very quiet and we were the last up by a long way at 10. 30pm. The toilet/shower block is very clean and has a good amount of showers/toilets for the size of the site. There were hair dryers in the ladies which was a nice touch. I did have to queue to do my washing up as as there are only 2 sinks, but I did go straight after dinner time.
We had our dog with us and so made use of the dog walking field, I was expecting to find lots of dog poo in there, but there was not, or none that I noticed.
Overall a lovely site that we would visit again if we are in the area.
