Stayed at this campsite for 3 nights. The lady was pleasant who booked us in and pointed to the field without children to stay in as we were a couple on our own which was nice. The field was large and only a few people there. It was very windy and open so wind breaks would be advisable.
The toilets and showers were kept immaculate and showers were hot and powerful. There was a chest freezer to store icepacks and a washing up area with 2 sinks.
The pub says walking distance but we felt it a bit far on a windy night, maybe in the warmer weather the walk would be ok. Word of warning, our sat nav lead us to the farm opposite which has a sign on it saying it is not common end farm, so I think it happens a lot. Not a problem though as its just past it on the other side clearly sign posted.
One more thing, the lady left us to it once we had paid which we liked. We never saw her again but she said we could call if any problems or questions.

Stayed here for 2 nights 1st and 2nd of June with another couple of mums with autistic children.
Putting up the tent was horrendous. The ground was literally filled with hardcore stones. We ended up going through no end of bent tent pegs, glad we had spares. Though the owners are aware of this as they are removing the stones a section at a time and growing the grass on the cleared areas. It should be nice when done as the new grass area looked flat, where as we had to pitch on very uneven ground.
As we had to pitch a bit further forward than we would need to in the future we had to borrow the extension for the EHU (my first time using it with the kids)and my lead is long.
The washing up area is nice but a bit low for me. I had to use my washing up bowl on the drainer and I was still stooping down a bit.
The showers were beautiful. Best I have seen at a camp site.
The local area is beautiful and not far from ALton Towers, but as we live close by we just stayed at the site. The kids played our board gmes and also had a game of cricket and football in the middle of the field.
My daughter ended up getting in the way of the cricket bat and getting a bad cut. The nearest hospital is Derby and there is no 24 hr chemist close by. Ended up phoning hubby to come to us and bring the 1st aid kit that lives in the car and I hadn't thought to take it out for camping as we usually camp with the car, but this was a camp for just the moms and children. The other moms didn't carry a 1st aid box either. Lesson learnt here. Hubby came and had no problems about him coming back to the site. Daughter was checked over by him (I'm useless when my own kids aer hurt, and he was a nurse) and head cut was covered and no lasting damage.
I would go again but once we can pitch on the flat destoned new grass. Once that is sorted I'd say it would be a 9 for location. The views are nice but not the best.
Oh and seems I may have been there at the same time as Pumpkin mom so I think I need to get a UKCS hat

Just returned from a great three night stay at this lovely campsite. Very warm welcome on arrival from owner. Shown to super pitch very large and spacious. Easy to connect EHU. The shower and toilet block were wonderful the best I have ever use. Previous review mentioned low pressure however they were hot and had great pressure (better than mine at home). Wonderful views from the site and children more than happy playing in the surrounding area. Ashbourne close by with a good selection of shops. Will happily visit this site again for a quiet quality stay.

Stayed in a tent over the bank holiday weekend. The site was easy to find and is beautiful with views as far as you can see.
The owners were very welcoming, friendly and approachable.
The site was busy but it never felt crowded. The pitch sizes are a great size so even if you have a larger tent there is still plenty of room between you and your neighbours. We had 3 tents, 4 cars and a trailer over 3 pitches and had a nice space for a 'communal area' in between.
Plenty of space for kids to play football, fly kites etc and not get in the way of people's tents.
The toilet block is new and always kept very clean. There are 2 showers in the ladies and I believe the same in the gents. Like a lot of sites, the water gets cooler at busy periods so you need to time when you have your shower so it's hot. The showers are free and are the push button type. There is only 1 drain so the suds from one cubicle flow through to other. Not a problem if there is only you showering at the time or you choose the shower without the drain! There is a mop and bucket to clean the shower too.
At the side of the toilet block is a washing up area, information board, and a chest freezer for ice packs etc. Again very clean.
There is a pub within walking distance which serves lovely food. It also has a good play park at the back for the kids and you can hire ping pong and pool equipment which is also outside. Lots of attractions within a short drive away or walk/cycle routes.
It was a very windy weekend so wind breaks are advised. I think it would've been better if we could take our fire pit so you could sit out in the evenings but you can't have everything!
I would definitely use this site again and recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights and it was our first time camping. On arrival the owner was very friendly and showed us to our pitch which had EHU.
The ground was very uneven but we managed to set the tent up ok. I didn't like the fact that the tent next to us had their guy ropes in between ours, there was hardly any room between each pitch.
The first time we went to have a shower the water pressure was non existent, water just trickled down the pipe on the wall! The shower was also just a push button type and you could not adjust the temperature.
However the second day the showers worked fine and were nice and warm. In the ladies there were plenty of toilets and one cubicle with a sink in to wash in private, also 2 further sinks.
There was just one socket for plugging in hair driers etc but I never got near it, each morning a young lady spent a good 45 mins there putting in hair extensions!
The freezer for ice packs didn't freeze them, even after leaving them in all night so we had to throw most of our food and milk away.
Overall we had a good first time camping but I would not return to the site as I thought £17. 50 per night was expensive for what we got.

Stayed in a tent over the Easter Weekend and found the site very handy for visiting Alton Towers & the towns of Buxton & Bakewell.
The site itself was busy but not overcrowded and we never had to queue for toilets which were always clean, however the showers were a real let down with water pressure low and no temperature control meaning my daughter couldn't use them as they were too hot for her. The shower head is tiny & so close to the wall you have to stand up against it to feel anything! Strangely there is a hair dryer in the mens but not the ladies however there is a mirror and plug
The washing up facilities are basic but adequate however on two nights we had to wash up using cold water.
We also found the site suffered from road noise from the adjoining A road
Overall a good site , be warned it does get windy which makes putting up big tents fun!
Owners comments: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We value feedback and always endeavour to rectify any concerns or complaints. Where we are made aware of issues whilst guests are on site we investigate and where possible resolve them at the time so you can continue to enjoy your stay with us.
With regards to the facilities, the water in the basins and showers is set in accordance with the relevant water regulations to prevent against water borne diseases. The showers are controlled both in terms of flow and temperature to ensure that every guest has the opportunity of a warm shower. We have provided a plug socket in the ladies toilets to allow the use of both hairdryers and straightening irons. Based on feedback from male visitors to the site a hard wired hairdryer only has been installed.

Its a nice campsite on the whole. I think it had only just opened the weekend we arrived. First impressions were good, wasn't too crowded (although full), nice views, open and sunny.
The site is set back from the road so traffic noise wasn't an issue. The area is pleasant with lots of things to do nearby (we hired bikes on the manifold trail).
First impressions of the toilet block were excellent (brand new). Very clean. However when I went for a shower I found the water pressure to be extremely low.
There are 2 showers in the gents, but only 1 of them has a drain, meaning that if somebody was in the shower next to you (the one without the drain), you have their dirty water and bubbles flowing over your feet.
The floor tiles in the shower cubicles needed attention as they had started subsiding and cracking in the 3 days we stayed there. I'm confident that these are just teething difficulties as the toilet block is new, and I'm sure they will be resolved. In any case, it wouldn't stop me from coming back.
One final moan, we had a couple of separate friends who live locally pop by to say hello on the afternoon of our arrival (only for an hour or so each). They were greeted with an air or suspicion, I think it was perceived that we were trying to sneak in extra campers 'through the back door'.
That said, we had a really nice time. It's a good site and I would give it an overall rating of 9/10 once the issues with the toilet block have been addressed.

In the interests of maintaining site security and the safety and enjoyment of guests booked onto the site, we do not allow visitors without the prior agreement of the proprietor. This control protects against the chance that guest property is damaged, possessions removed from unoccupied tents and caravans or the site from becoming over-occupied reducing the toilet and shower facilities to an unacceptable level for guests staying on site. This is particularly critical during peak holidays such as bank holidays where the site is already very busy.
