We have just returned from our first visit to Folly Hall Farm and what a lovely holiday we had. The owner was lovely and very helpful, he made us feel very welcome and provided us with a sheet of local information. He even helped us to take down our tent due to the strong winds which were blowing. The owner takes great pride in his site, the grass is mowed very regularly and is more like a lawn than a field. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean and kept well stocked with hand soap and toilet roll, not that nasty cheap stuff either. He also provides a freezer which was useful for freezing ice packs and the fish we caught on our fishing trip. The views were lovely and we were also treated to one of the most stunning sun sets I have ever seen. We hope to go back again soon!

We had a wonderful week at Folly Hall Farm. The site is located in a lovely quite place surrounded by beautiful views & lovely walks. The site itself was lovely & such a friendly place, we were made welcome from the moment we arrived and felt so comfortable & relaxed there. The showers & toilets were always spotless and the site itself was very well maintained. We loved the fact that cars were only allowed on to the site until you were set up and then stayed in the car park which meant that it was very safe for the children to play on the beautiful maintained grass. All the children were very taken with the chickens & the sheep which were always happy to be fed. Terry was simply the most friendly & helpful gentleman and was more than happy to help and offer advice at any time. We just wish we had found this place sooner but now we have found it we will most definitely be returning soon. Highly recommended.

This was our second outing with our caravan booked last minute, good rates and no add on's
The area was very quiet, views exceptional, you need a vehicle to get about
The owner was very friendly and helpful, the field was well maintained, showers and toilets clean and plenty of hot water, if your looking for posh this it's not, rustic is a good description
We would recommend and will return
Thank you Terry

Excellent little site with all the facilities you need at a place where there is lots to see and do with only a short drive. Location was everything; in the middle of the countryside with plenty of 'wildlife' nearby (opened curtains to find cows looking in curiously from the next field); curlews in full flight and song and the resident hens who tracked our every move. Toilet / shower / pot-washing facilities immaculately kept. Freezer also made available. Owner very friendly and helpful. Dogs to be kept on leads in consideration of other campers. Plenty of space for active little, and not so little, ones to run around. Loads to see nearby; Whitby, North York Moors etc. Nicest part of the country :-)

1st return to camping in a while. Site was quiet which is what we were looking for. I would suggest people check what is available on site before booking. What we wanted was clean showers. Clean toilets and hot water. Level pitch near to places of interest. This is what we got. You can pay for electric hook up if you wish to use electic items.
Owner- was very helpful and passed on sheet of do's and don'ts not unreasonable. Owner was proactive in reminding campers who didn't follow rules in a pleasant way. Made for happy campsite.
We have a Dog.
I would remind everyone that this is surrounded by working farms and in a national park. Owner is not being picky about keeping your dog on a lead or secure. Lambs in fields, calves as well lots of nesting birds with chicks. Lovely to see but wouldn't be there if you don't follow rules and keep dog on lead. Only thing I would say if using tent it is exposed may need wind breaks.
From owners list of places to visit went to leaholm lovely village. Little shop with homemade pies and cakes worth a visit. Pub nice little local shop and lovely tea rooms.
Will be visiting area again and would book this site again. Even if site was full lots of space between pitches unless you have a supersized tent.

We had a wonderful two night stay at Folly Hall Farm on the road to Whitby. The owner was a very welcoming gent, showed us our spot, explained the facilities and even gave us some info to read over regarding our stay and local attractions. He couldn't have been more helpful, he'd have needed to tuck us in at night to be! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be coming back again! Thanks!

We chose Folly Hill Farm after reading previous reviews. On arrival we were met by owner who was helpful in directing us to our pitch. The site is relatively small however the 15 pitches are well spread out around the edge of the field which provides a good play area in the centre for children. The views are lovely over the hills however being high up with no trees to shelter the area it can be quite windy.
Although the toilets are kept clean they are basic. There was only 1 shower in the ladies and 2 toilets. They are housed inside a portakabin inside a barn. There is no hairdryer or plug point so you must take your own. There are no hand drying facilities after washing hands. The shower was free and hot. To be honest though I feel that at £16per night for camping with so few facilities I would expect this. The toilets are very poorly lit at night.
If you're looking for a comfortable camp site then I would not recommend staying here however if you prefer basic quiet sites then this site is ideal. One of the neighbouring caravans kept tripping the electric as the voltage available is very low so suggest calling to discuss your requirements.
The site is easy to get to and good base for getting around popular places.

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend, staying in the B&B.
The owner is a superb host. We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. The B&B will really appeal to those who want a place to chill out and relax. The facilities are second to none, meticulously decorated and furnished in keeping with its historical Grade II listed building status.
It was lovely to come in to a warm wood/coal burning stove in our own private living room.
Nothing is too much trouble and Terry really makes you feel special. His breakfasts are great - all made from local produce.
We will definitely be coming back and hope to sample the camping facilities sometime this year.
All round an absolute 5 star experience.

Well, don't know where to start. In one word fantastic! The owner is fantastic. You couldn't wish to meet a nicer gentleman. He is a pure star. He looks after you from the moment you arrive to waving you off. Nothing is too much trouble. Our kids thought he was great. The site itself is great. Real camping site. He takes alot of pride in his site as you can see everyday day. The showers and toilets are spotless. The bin area spotless and the washing area spotless. I felt we where all his family. Such a great atmosphere with everyone around us. We all played as one unit till dark n there's so much room to enable you to do this. The children felt safe and secure. What more could a parent ask for. Everything on your door step really within a drive away. Views -well who wouldn't love those views. As far as the eye can see! We cant believe what we have dropped on with this site. The friendliest we've been too and we have done a far bit of camping but this is just perfect in every way. We will be back. Sad to be back in the hustle and bustle of everyday life but we know it wont be long until we return. Cant thank you enough for making it feel safe and secure and so friendly. Keep the good work up.

We recently returned home after a few nights here it was a last minute booking and didn't have a lot of choice, so when we arrived we were surprised at how lovely the campsite was there was two fields for camping, you could drive on to unload and load but a car park very close there was elec hook ups, a sink to wash dishes, two portacabins with three toilets and two showers for each of the genders which were very clean and well stocked, there was lots of tents like us but no queues surprisingly. Everyone was very friendly the field opposite ours even had a game of rounders between all the campers, the owner terry was lovely and couldn't do enough for us, he gave great advise on were to eat the black bull pub was about 5mins in the car home made food delicious! Whitby was a short drive but lots of eating places shut at 8pm so be warned. Goathland is lovely its were they filmed heartbeat and a harry potter scene in the station The children loved the chickens wandering around our field and feeding the sheep in the paddock and they had lots of space to play we took a ball and bats they had great fun playing hide and seek as well we will definitely return thanks terry your site is a credit to you.
