We stayed here for two nights in August and were delighted with the campsite. It is well looked after, the grass is kept short so the ground dries quickly and the field is wonderfully flat. The pitches are spaced out nicely around the edge and the cars are parked in the adjacent field so there was plenty of safe playing space for our two children. The showers and toilets were spotlessly clean. The site is peaceful and the surroundings are simply beautiful. With clear dark skies, you have a great opportunity for star gazing. The owner is very friendly, funny and kind, and knows so much about the area. He recommended Sandsend bay and Runswick bay - two beautiful, relatively quiet beaches close by. We will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I have decided to start camping with our dog to try and see what this great country has to offer!
I have always wanted to visit Whitby and we chose Folly Hall Farm based on the reviews on this site.
The owner Terry was very welcoming and set us up with a great pitch and even helped us assemble our tent (first timers - and it was obvious!) in the wet and windy weather!
The campsite is very well maintained with immaculate lawns rather than fields. Very flat and well drained. The showers were clean and hot but basic - which was perfect for us! There was a spot for doing your pots and even a freezer.
The tents were well spaced apart and everyone on the site was really friendly!
The owner is a mine of information and always willing to help and we had some fabulous pub dinners off his recommendations!
Whitby is a short car journey away and we had a lovely day there and in Robin Hoods Bay.
I would definitely recommend and return to this site and it was a fabulous introduction to camping for us and Ted the dog! Thank you so much!
Highly recommend this site and we now have the camping bug!

We have been camping for many years and we are a bit reluctant to review this site as we don't want the rest of you to find it! It is a real gem.
If you are looking for a clean and very neat and tidy site, with plenty of safe space for children to play, which is quiet by 10. 30 p. M then this is the place for you.
The owner of the campsite is very welcoming and made sure we knew where everything was and that we had everything we needed. He is full of information about what is on and where to go. He provides his mobile number and if you have any problems he will be there to help. What a lovely man.
Earlier reviews say there is only one toilet cubicle per gender. This information is out of date and the clean and perfectly serviceable facilities now have three toilet cubicles and two showers for the ladies and similar for the gents.
After dark there is the most amazing view of the stars. No light pollution here to spoil the view.
There is good hot water for washing up.
There is a general no car policy on the site but you are able to bring your car on site for unloading and loading. The car parking is right next to the campsite and is in full sight of the pitches.
Would we go back? Oh yes! Is this one of the best sites we have ever stayed on? Oh yes! Were we happy campers? You bet!

You will not find a man more proud of his campsite than Terry, the owner. You camp on a striped lawn not in a field. The facilities are very adequate and clean, hidden away in a disused barn to comply with National Park building regulations. The electricity is limited. All looks a little basic but this is camping as it used to be but better. The site is nearer to quiet Grosmont and the NYM Railway, Runswick Bay and Sandsend than Whitby and better for that, Whitby being a ten/fifteen minute drive to the crowds. A unique and good experience.

Just had an excellent weekend at Folly Hall. The fields are level and well maintained, the location is beautiful and quiet and the owner is very friendly and helpful. He is full of advice about where to visit whilst your there and couldn't do enough for everyone.
The toilets are basic but clean with hot water.
The site is very child friendly although there is no playground as such but loads of room for kids to run around and play.
We will definitely be staying again, not something we've said about any other sites I might add!

My family and I have just returned from a weekend stay on this site. The weather was quite breezy but the owner has yet to learn how to control the weather! The site is a gem. The grass is meticulously manicured with no grass clippings present and the site in general is spotless. The toilets and showers are basic but very clean and the showers are domestic ones with plenty of hot water. Wardens from other sites we have visited could learn a lot from Terry. He is very helpful and an excellent host. He is refreshingly, not like some other site owners, a rip off merchant and doesn't charge extra for windbreaks, gazebo's and dogs etc. I would definitely revisit this site.

We recently spent six nights at Folly Farm - it was our second visit following a four day stay last year.
The camp site itself is an immaculately clean field around which around which Terry arranges tents and vehicles leaving the middle free for the young and not so young to run around in.
The toilets are very clean (paper, liquid soap and magazines provided) and the showers are full of lovely hot water.
There is no ambient light so you can stargaze or simply lie in your tent and either watch the sun go down or come up over the Moors. The sound track is pretty special too.
Owner is warm, helpful and discreet. Folly farm is clean, quiet and very good value for money.

Beautiful position, lovely flat field & very peaceful. The view in the evening sunshine was just lovely. Facilities basic, warm shower but in shabby portacabin which is very dark at night. Found site owner over bearing and too precious about his grass having been shouted at for turning wheel before moving. Found that the caravan MUST be in line with grass stripes & jockey wheel lifted. Not for nervous reversers just starting touring. Low voltage electrics tripped out constantly. Sorry , won't be back.

We stayed here on bank holiday weekend at end of may. 4 adults, 2 young teenagers and 2 dogs. And we really enjoyed it. The reason we chose to camp here is because the reviews were so good. We were not disappointed at all. The campsite was really nice. It was immaculate and had very generous flat pitches. The toilets and showers are rustic and quite basic but were always clean with plenty of toilet paper. Terry the owner was great, nothing was too much trouble and he was always keen to be if assistance with recommending walks and places to eat. Also he has a great sense of humour! Campsite is in good position for exploring different places, though it was a shame we weren't within walking distance to coast (about 8-10 mins in car). Would highly recommend this very well kept, homely campsite to all. Its a real gem!

We spent a wonderful 3 nights here on our first outing with a new caravan - and had the rare privilege of having the field to ourselves! The site is clearly signposted from the main road and access is easy. The owner was incredibly welcoming and helpful, he suggested we pitch parallel to a barn to provide some shelter and this proved a very good move.
The owner was brilliant with our 2 children and took us all around his smallholding giving us eggs from his hens to cook for breakfast. He is soon to open 2 very upmarket B & B suites and proudly showed us these - they will be fantastic once open and if families wish to bring non-camping family members or friends with them this would prove a great place for them to stay adjacent to the camping field. The owner never stops working and is looking to continually improve the site.
The bathroom facilities are 'rustic' but provide everything you need.
This is a beautiful area and we recommend all the nearby beaches as well as inland walks - the Danby moors centre and the walk from Littlebeck to Falling Foss waterfall and teagarden where there is a brilliant 'natural' playground for children. There are nice walks along the quiet adjoining lane and onto farmland footpaths which are handy for dog walks.
