The site itself was ok but toilets/showers were in need of renovation as very old with lots of dust, hairs and black mould in between tiles etc. So we decided to use our own in our motorhome throughout our stay. When we arrived on a Sunday there was a note left on the office door which directed us to our pitch. Unfortunately the other side of a small hedge which our van was to be parked up against there were 2 caravans that had visitors so was fairly close and very noisy. There was nobody in the office to ask to move, so we put up with it as best we could. The following day we managed to see the owner who told us we could pull our van out a bit or move to the next pitch (which was just as close to them) so not very helpful at all.
The surrounding areas more than made up for this though, as the countryside was beautiful with views over the Purbeck hills and lots of lovely walks/cycles in quiet country lanes or into the nearest town of Wareham along the river. Wareham is a beautiful little town where you can shop, eat, have a drink by the river or go on various boat trips, one which takes you into Poole harbour. You can also get the Purbeck Breezer bus which goes to various places including Swanage, taking in the wonderful scenery along the way. The train station is not far too if you prefer to get to Poole etc. Quickly. Arne forest and RSPB are about 2 miles away and are well worth a visit to see the famous Sika Deer as well as lots of birdlife.
The site itself, although perfectly situated, was very basic and with no atmosphere (maybe due to the fact that the owner only appeared on site for around 20-30 minutes twice a day) but this may be due to the fact that it was the end of the season for them? One thing that did worry us, was the lack of security on the site as there were no gates/barriers or wardens, and cars seemed to drive in and turn around as the site was at the end of a lane. Also some ramblers used the sites toilets when passing through on a walk. We probably would not go back due to the lack of security and facilities.

What a fabulous site! Electric hook up and rural pitches on a small site. Great location at the end of a little road, no traffic thundering past nice and secure for the kids. Toilets, showers, laundry all basic but functional and cleaned regularly. Site shop open for daily papers, fresh bread and selection of essentials. Close to beautiful Wareham and Swanage beach. Loads of pubs and shops close by or stop off to buy produce from residents gardens. No playground but loads of space for kids to play. Additional separate camping area for those who want a quiet trip with no kids riding around. Otherwise the main camping area was a hive of kids activity. Always a bike ride challenge or game of cricket to join in with. Highly recommended.

A small, quiet, well run and family friendly site.
The shop is open for 2 hours in the morning (order your Croissants the day before and they are there in time for breakfast) and 2 hours in the evening. The Ice Pack freezer was not the best but it caters for all the camping basics and a few frills as well.
The Toilet/Shower block was clean and tidy if basic, but in a 7 night stay during the school holidays we did not queue once and there was lots of hot water.
The pitch we were allocated was a little lumpy and under a massive Oak tree but this was a saving grace when packing up in the rain!
There are no children play areas but our boys (10 and 6) loved cycling round and playing with all the other children there.
All in all we would recommend this site and will be going back :)

This is a well situated campsite, ideal for exploring the local area. The toilets and showers are plentiful and are cleaned on a regular basis and look very presentable.
The charges are reasonable, we paid £16 a night for 2 adults, car and large tent.
There is a small shop on site and there is the facility to order bread for the following morning (croissants etc). The owners are amenable and pleasant to speak to.

This site is very quiet, being at the end of a lane with no surrounding roads or flight paths.
The shop is well stocked for such a small unit, although when the visitors are few it may not open every day. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful.
It is a grass site and most pitches, but not all, are essentially level. Electric hook ups are sensibly placed and super long leads should not be necessary.
There are mature hedges between many, but not all, of the pitches. This is good for privacy, but the unit on the other side is very close and with our canvas roofed camper van this did promote one complaint about our noise from another with a more solidly built vehicle.
The toilets and showers are adequate but not outstanding. 'They do what it says on the tin'.
The building would not suit those afraid of spiders or moths. At full stretch there may be some queuing, only 3 showers. There are not enough hooks or shelves in the shower. There was never any shortage of hot water. The showers are push button and this is not a problem. There was no toilet paper in any gents cubicle on Saturday night.
The walk into Wareham starts out along lanes and ends as a narrow path beside the river. We too saw a small herd of deer. At the Wareham end there are two pubs, the larger of the two does excellent food.
Wareham is well worth a visit, supermarkets x2, some interesting local shops and boat hire on the river. Christchurch, Bournemouth, Poole, Brownsea Island, Corfe and great coastal walks all within easy drive. Whites Mill is interesting and an idyllic setting, open weekends.

We stayed at Ridge for three nights as it seemed to offer what we wanted - close to Purbeck, good cycling, quiet site. When we arrived just after midday there was no-one about and reception was closed, but a quick phone call to the number given on the door soon sorted out our pitch. We were told to choose our own pitch (no electric), so we chose one at the bottom of the site, mostly because we like a fair degree of privacy and seclusion.
The pitch itself was flat, well maintained and a good distance (20 ft) between pitches. We were told to pitch in the centre, with the extremities of the pitch marked by white posts.
Toilets are adequate for a 3 pennant site (listed in the AA Guide) with 4 WCs and 4 Basins, 4 Showers. This was OK for us but I can imagine when the site is busy (as it was over the Bank Holiday) it would not be adequate. The showers were hot (but not hot enough for me personally) - no temperature control. Shower spray heads were adequate, probably 6 out of 10. There is only a single hook to hang inside the door so you would have to get dressed/undressed in the adjacent area with a bench seat.
The Dishwashing facility has 2 sinks which were clean. There is also a laundry facility which we did not use.
The shop and reception are only open for short periods (one hour) in the morning and afternoon. We noticed that the timekeeping on shop and reception opening hours could have been better as it wasn't necessarily open when stated it should be.
In any case, there are shops (and a Sainsbury's) in Wareham - 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot following the river path.
We would go there again, but not in any peak period at busy times.

This site has a lovely quiet setting, just a short riverside walk from Wareham. Wareham station is also walk able as are bus-stops to Poole and Swanage.
The site itself, however, seemed a bit unloved. We saw no evidence of the facilities block being cleaned during our 5 night stay.
There were no buckets and mops provided so you couldn't even clean the showers yourself. There were 3 sinks for washing up but again, no sign of cleaning during our stay. We would not have minded this particularly as the site was fairly empty - but the charge for a pitch with electric was £19 per night.

We had a wonderful Easter break at Ridge Farm with our grown up son and his friend. The campsite is lovely and flat and very quiet. All you can hear is the birds, wonderful. No noisy roads close by and nestled into the countryside. The owners were helpful and friendly. The reception was closed when we arrived but our pitch was clearly listed on the window with a map to tell us where to pitch. Showers were hot and free, clean and tidy. There was a problem with the water supply on one day, but it was not the owners fault. Walked into Wareham along the river towpath which is a nice walk, approx 25 mins, and went to the market on the quay. Lovely little town. Close to Corfe Castle, Swanage, Weymouth, Poole & Bournemouth. Saw deer in the woods and a lovely walk on Stoborough Heath. Will be returning time and again as this is a lovely site.

Ridge farm in Wareham has a lovely site shop where you can order your papers, croissants, pain au chocolats for the next morning
The pitches are quite large and well spaced in the main field and in the overflow field ( peak time only or if demand is high ) it is pitch where you find.
Lovely views down to the river and play deer spoting in the adjoining fields. Older but good clean facilities.
10 minute walk along the river into wareham for shops and pubs. 10 minute drive to the steam railway which runs to Corfe Castle and Swanage ( lovely beach ) and it is not too far from Poole and Bournemouth for larger shops and supermarkets.
We have been many times and will return many more!

Just returned from a weeks camping at Ridge Farm in Wareham and had a really lovely time.
Pitches really spacious, good value for money, everything you could need good showers, toilets, laundry, shop etc.
I visited there with my partner and 8 year old daughter. Although there is no playground or swimming pool my daughter found plenty to do, playing with other kids and in the den in the wood at side of the camp.
Really peaceful site where you can really relax and have a nice break.
We did not bring a car but you could walk into Wareham along the river which is a really nice walk and only takes about 20 mins. Wareham is a lovely town with plenty of shops, pubs etc.
Visit the Quay Inn by the river, the steaks on black rocks are amazing and they have a steak night every tues.
Perfect base for visiting Poole, Swanage, Bournemouth etc.
Really enjoyable time! :)
