Nice little site, spacious pitches, relaxed environment. Shop and reception open for two hours in the morning and evening so on arrival found a printed layout on the door with our names on it and asked to choose our pitch, payment by cheque/cash only which is ok if you know beforehand. The Guy in charge came at about 4 ish and introduced himself and checked we were ok.
Facilities are adequate with HOT water throughout the day/ night. Could be cleaner and modernised but not an issue, in truth, offers very good value. Sandy well drained soil and level pitches. The site is not Lit at night, only the toilet block, it does give the impression of proper wild camping. Visited by cows against the fence of a morning which the Kids loved and views of moored Boats on the river Frome which is probably two hundred yards away.
A river side walk into Wareham, a lovely Town, takes twenty mins where river cruises are available, boat hire etc, loads of eateries of all sorts available, as is a reasonable supermarket. As a touring base its fantastic so much to do within 20 miles. We loved it here, we would never go anywhere else if only the facilities were comfortable and not just functional. The Irish lady that works in the shop is a delight and my son already misses her.

We were able to get a booked pitch on a very hot weekend at 24 hours notice which was great, was warned in advance that payment had to be cheque or cash (so was able to be prepared). Arrived at 19:30 and Reception was closed but they have the very sensible system of leaving up a site plan so you pitch yourself and just pay the next morning - refreshingly grown-up.
Pitches were adequate, although fairly close together, arranged in straight rows so not too interesting. Showers/toilets were basic but clean, airy and never crowded - same for kitchen areas. Shop opening hours were quite short, but it was well stocked. No facility (that we found) to freeze cool box blocks which is a shame.
Location is amazing, in a quiet spot very close to river, Poole harbour and the sea. Wareham only a mile or so up the road with great shops (amazing and friendly fish counter cum butchers cum greengrocers cum bakery on West St.). We ate 1 night at Stoborough Kings Arms - decent food, decent ale, OK prices - really Fawlty Towers service though.
Wouldn't be my first choice of camp site in the area, but would happily go back if others were full.

Very peaceful site. Although when we went it wasn't very crowded I think that in peak times it would be a bit cramped. Having said that, the pitch size was good. The toilets and showers were fine. The reception and shop aren't open for long which could be inconvenient. I had to write a cheque to pay which was a bit of a blast from the past.
While we were there (3 nights) the bins were overflowing so obviously they need more or need them emptying more often.
The Purbeck area is lovely.
You can walk to Wareham along the riverside (20-30 mins) which was very nice. On the quayside at Wareham there is a pub called The Old Granary. We looked on the menu and the prices seemed excessive and were printed in fraction format (10 1/2 etc).
We ate at the Italian restaurant La Trottolina which was very nice.
An OK site which we would visit again.

Lovely quiet site, flat but a bit boggy round the edges! Owners OK but not over friendly.
One of our steel poles broke whilst pitching and the chap did his best to straighten it, but it was terminal. We stayed under a precarious canvas for 3 nights.
In my opinion I found the site a bit characterless, but facilities were clean and functional.
Lovely walks very nearby either along the river or to the heath. The Nature Reserve at Arne is only a short drive from the site, it's beautiful, and a nice little beach through the woods
Wareham is a lovely town and can be accessed from the river or it's a short drive. Lots of shops / pubs / restaurants to choose from here too.
Don't think I would go back purely and simply because it just didn't do anything for me, but this is just my opinion, sorry.

Great little campsite- no frills which is exactly what we wanted!
Clean and tidy shower facilities and despite it being the schools holidays and mid August, I never queued for a shower and there was plenty of hot water.
We walked along the river to the pub The Old Granary right on the Quayside. Beautiful location and good service, would definitely recommend a visit! Sit upstairs on the roof terrace with views of the river and the church.
Great location within easy reach of Swanage/ Poole and all the local attractions!

We stayed here over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, and found this a lovely, small site.
The pitches were level, and although at times there was some rain, the site and pitches did not become muddy.
The owners were friendly and helpful, the loos and showers were cleaned regularly, and there were enough of them.
I had three children with me, and they had a great time riding their bikes and playing Swingball, but there are no facilities specifically for children.
There is a small shop on site, and a very nice lady running it. You can order croissants and choc au pains with your paper in the morning, which is great.
We visiting Swanage which has a sandy, clean, and safe beach, Lulworth Castle to watch some jousting, and Corfe Castle by steam train from Swanage. We also took a boat trip to Bournemouth. There is a diving school on the pier at Swanage for the more energetic.
The only downside to this site for us, was the limited hours that the shop opened - an hour in the morning and an hour late afternoon.
A really nice site though, and we booked for an extra night.

We loved this site. A great location where you could walk into Wareham, along the river. We enjoyed visiting the pubs and La Trotalina, a local Italian - food was gorgeous.
The site is well run. Toilets are clean and the showers are hot. Good washing up facilities too.
I liked the laid back feel to the site, where you were allocated a pitch and set up and paid later.
The shop was great. Sold a variety of items and we particularly the fresh croissants.
Great location for Poole, Swnage, Weymouth, Bournemouth etc. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic site with clean facilities and the shop has all the basic needs, nice easy walk to Wareham with great pubs too. Pitches are very spacious, and close to water taps, all in all a fantastic site stayed at many in the area and this is by far the best.
Wareham has a good selection of shops and the best beach is at Studland Bay which is owned by the National Trust. The village of Corfe is nearby where you can hop on a steam train or explore the castle.

Lovely site, very well maintained and well signposted from the road. The quiet field was just that, quiet and tranquil! Showers and toilets were spotlessly clean whenever you went in!
The only criticisms we have are that the showers were very basic and ran with lukewarm water after 8am in the morning, and facilities on the site itself were very poor. This is the first campsite we have ever attended that has no 'fridge to use! If the showers were updated, hot water available constantly, and better facilities were provided (other than recharging ice blocks) this site would be 100%.

Central location for visiting area; small and quiet site; all necessary facilities; level pitches.
Reception and shop only open for one hour early morning and one hour late afternoon therefore no-one around to book in with; hot water supply to showers and washing up at peak times was limited, when we complained we were told to fit in with everyone else; shower heads do not direct where they are supposed to; waste water disposal is down the chemical toilet point, unhygienic and very difficult to lift up the wastemaster that most caravanners now have.
*With an update of the facilities this could be a very good site.
