Have just returned from Napps and have mixed views. The site has great views of Watermouth harbour if you are lucky enough to get on a section of pitches that has this view. The bar area (including nightly entertainment), shop, small pool, and play area are nice. The site describes itself as 5 star, and in many ways this is true, however where it does totally fail to meet this billing is in terms of the single shower / toilet block. The site is on an incline, with most pitches being located on terraces going up the slope - the shower block is right at the bottom and further away from the pitches than the bar, cafe, pool etc etc. Going to the block is therefore a significant trek and is even worse for those in tents who are located higher up the site and further away than the caravan only pitches lower down the slope. I would certainly recommend planning well in advance! Also, the number of showers are inadequate particularly for the ladies - my wife had to queue every morning and never had better than a warm shower throughout the whole stay. The terraces are also fairly narrow requiring very careful manouvering of caravans, and caused problems for larger caravans and tents, and others needing to get past them on the terraces. The site's location is good with the Saw Mill Inn a short walk downhill from the site - the it was also possible to walk to the Globe Inn in Berrynarbor which is a nice pub. You can also walk to Combe Martin (approx 25/30 minutes on the Coast Path) but pack a torch if walking after dark. The nearest beach down 200 steps is in a beautiful cove - be prepared for a lung busting walk back up to the site!

Admittedly the weather, during the week, was not very good so our review might be slightly jaded you decide. This was supposed to be a five star site. Pictures can be very deceiving, they do not show just how much the site is terraced and how steep it is. Some of the pitches are very narrow and make manoeuvring your caravan a positive health & safety risk. We had help from other campers to turn the van, no sign of the site operators you are left on your own. Some that had been on site for a while told us of some very close shaves. Drainage on the site is very poor and when the weather is bad this turns the grassed areas into something close to a war zone. Water points are few and far between. The shop, while we were there, had a lot of out of date food on the shelves. The customer service was average. The toilets and showers were very good and the views of the sea and surrounding area were excellent. Yes it was close to the sea but the steepness of the steps was very very bad, good for abseiling down, even worse getting back up. I would not recommend this site to the faint hearted. Who ever gave it ' 5 stars ' must have had something in their eyes.

We were very impressed with the pre-booking efficiency. Beautiful site, neat and tidy, fabulous views and they were happy to take dogs. Site was clean and no sign of any fouling. Be prepared for high winds if you are allocated a top pitch, you will need to be able to strap down gazebos etc. Lots of space for pitching tent, parking cars and for children to play. Well stocked shop and we were able to rent ice packs for our cool box but they refused to refreeze the ones we had brought with us. Disappointing toilet facilities - only four out of six showers working in the ladies and we were on pitch 185, not enough facilities to cope with all of the people on the site. Also toilet facilities a very long and steep climb away from the furthest pitches not very practical when your young child needs to go to the toilet in the night. (A round trip to the loo took 30 minutes). They were however cleaned and stocked regularly. Some of the advertised extras appear now not to be available - we asked to use an iron (this is advertised on site) and were told to go and buy one from Tesco as they only cost £6 ! Good play area, pool (slightly precarious slide) and we found some good places to visit in the area with dog friendly beaches. Nice pubs and the coastal path walks were stunning. It would be great if more toilet, dishwashing, water etc facilities were added to accomodate the pitches at the top of the site - we would use the site again if these were added.

Our first visit (by recommendation) but we will be back. Spotlessly clean modern toilets and showers, well stocked shop and ever so friendly, helpful staff who obviously enjoy working here, and with this location perhaps you can see why, the views and the sunsets are absolutely stunning. We were lucky to have fantastic weather and to be honest did not explore the area much cause the kids just loved the pool, the woods and play area. We did visit the beach next to the site which is an idyllic cove and reached by walking down 200 steps, great going down ! The site is terraced which is good because you don't get the feeling of being on top of your neighbours, we had plenty of space, however I can see this may be a problem with the massive tents that are appearing these days but apparently this site is putting a size limit on tents during high season. Overall we thought this was a great site and the smell of breakfasts from the poolside cafe proved irresistable at times!

Napps well we have good and bad to say about the site. We booked our pitch a couple of months before we were due to arrive. On arrival the staff were helpful. We went to our pitch and found it to be very small. I Had informed apss of the size of my caravan and that we would be putting up an awning up. When our neighbours came and pitched up we had no room at all. We opened the curtains in the morning and looked straight in to there car. It is difficult to reverse your vans on to the pitches as the site is tiered and if you went to far the car would end up down the bank on to the next tier with your van following. I paced out the pitches and found them all to be different sizes, some half as big as ours, so basically if you have not been here before its pot luck as to the size of pitch you get. This is a big down side for us as our 2 children had no wear to play other than the road witch is not a good idea.
On the good side the View was fantastic and the toilets were clean but lacked toilet paper now and again. The showers were warm and quite big. To sum up I dont think this is a very family friendly site as there is no place for young children (ours is 2 ) to play around the vans so you can keep an eye on them. For people with older children that dont need to be supervised and you dont mind being crammed in it is a nice site.

We spend a wonderful week at this site and all the amenities were just what needed the was nice and clean and so were the toilets my only criticism was that for a time there was no toilet paper in the loo's but that is all. And everyone on the site were friendly and welcoming and the wonderful viewa to be seen.We will be returning to this site again sometime in the future during our tour of the west country coast line. Thanks again for a lovely week at Napps

This was the first time at this site. Staff were very friendly and the clubhouse and entertainment were great. The falconry display was brilliant. We pitched at the top of the site which was very windy but fantastic views , the walk to the toilet block was something else. Great going downhill but certainly a muscle builder on the way back. Very few parking spaces around the toilets so you had no option but walk. The swimming pool was pleasant and the walk to the beach was fantastic. All together this was a very good site ideally situated for touring Combe Martin and surrounding areas. We would go again but perhaps pitch nearer the toilet block.

Despite Napps' advertised policy of 'not accepting single sex groups'- and having booked several months in advance; on arrival we were allocated the very farthest pitch from the facilities- right next door to an U16(?) football team. The first night we were kept awake till nearly midnight (when I told them to can it) I mentioned it to reception, and was told that there'd been a couple of other complaints and that it would be dealt with. To be fair, the following 3-4 nights were quieter. But a group of young lads 'whispering' can still make a surprising amount of noise. The weather wasn't great (hardly Napps' fault), but with 2 nights' pre-paid booking unused, we decided to call it a day & head for home. Previous comments about the steepness of the site and the distance from some pitches to the facilities are spot on. However to be fair, the toilets & showers, shop, cafe & bar are all very good. OK, so maybe we were just unlucky with our neighbours. But if you're a tenter- when you book; be sure to ask where you'll be pitched (and if you'll be put next to a group!)

Had a great week here arrived at 10.30 and was lucky enough to get pitched straight away, but others not so lucky. The roads to this site are very tight and windy so be warned, and once at the site the approach road is steep with a blind bend at top, directly into site, be very careful, as there was an accident on this bend as we were booking in! Having said all this, once pitched this site is well worth the hassle of the getting there, fantastic views, spotless shower block, and to top it all the weather for our week was perfect, would go again.

Excellent site with spectacular views. We were in a tent and had one week up near the top (pitch 197) was nice and level and one week further down near the wooden gate.
The first week was great as we had great weather and went to the beaches nearby (woolacombe, saunton, crode) by far the best. The downside was that the toilets/showers/washroom were well too far away if you needed the toilet in the night you were easily looking at a 5 minute walk in the pitch black because there were no lights up in the top half of the camp.
And in the second week we decided to stay on but we had to move pitch further down onto the unmarked sections but the slope got pretty bad we would wake up in the night having slid of the airbed.
Things I thought were good: The on-site shop was very reasonably priced. As was the on-site cafe serving up a good cafe menu. The pool was warm and cleaned every day. The bar was good with decent enough entertainment. Some bad points though: The launderette was useless (didn't clean clothes) Shower blocks not cleaned at a weekend. Women's showers freezing most days. Shop would not freeze your ice packs(you hire there's) Some other little things worth mentioning were when they increased all the prices after the first week as we entered a new season, like washers went up from £2 to £3,all items went up in the shop by a couple of pence. Also we noticed in the washer room there were no plugs in the sinks trying to force you into buying a bowl from the shop
Hope you don't take all this the wrong way I just thought people would like to know these little things, because we loved our stay there and would probably go again.
