Lovely chilled campsite, with loads of space.
Really enjoyed my stay here, even though we didn’t have the best weather.
Chose to pitch on the lower field, close to water. Very easy access with paddleboards to launch.
The portaloos were kept in nice condition for the 3 days, while the showers & other facilities at the top field were very clean.
The fields were very soft & at least one couple needed a tow from the farmer, which was provided very promptly.
Everyone respected the rules & it was quiet after 10pm. The only noise in the morning was from sheep eating the grass close to the tent!
Looking forward to staying here again.

Even though it was wet we had a lovely stay at the campsite 💚
Beautiful site with gorgeous views 💚
Really helpful owners, helped us out with biscuits for the children when we forgot to bring the ones they like 😄
Would definitely like to visit this site again 💚

Hard to know where to start really. Utterly brilliant is probably about right.
It's difficult because I almost don't want people to know about this absolute gem.
A couple of hundred meters to Coniston Water, about 45 minutes (mostly flat) walk to Coniston, stunning views of the lake and hills from the site.
Facilities were fairly basic (showers, toilets, dishwashing facilities) but very clean and absolutely perfect for our two night stay.
It's a working farm and we were there for lambing season.
The site owners are lovely - the chap saw us walking back to our tent after a hike, and sped over on his quad bike to show us two freshly born lambs - such a lovely experience!
Couldn't recommend this place highly enough - we'll definitely be back!

My second visit to this lovely quiet site with direct access to the lake shore.
The family now running the site and farming in the area are very friendly, amenable and helpful. If contact number goes to answerphone, leave a message, he will soon get back to you.

This site is very much old school camping in an amazing location. It's no longer National Trust.
No electric or pitches allocated, you just have to have a fire break distance between tents.
It wasn't busy but the people who were there were virtually silent from pretty early on.
It was £19 for me and my son in 2 man tent but I think all tents get charged the same price and then you pay per head. £10 adult and £4 kids up to 15 years old. Better value from the Farmer.
Toilets were very clean. Massive area of campground, from the top of the hill all the way down to lake Coniston's edge.
Boss campsite ⛺️ 😀.

Arrived here to find the site had recently been taken on by the farmer after NT operation ended.
We had a friendly welcome and were guided to a pitch close to the lake with lovely views and 80yds walk to water edge.
The whole site is undulating which adds character.
Owner is intending this to be a peaceful site, which we were glad of.
Despite only operating for 5 weeks there were several signs of activity and improvement.
A lovely site for a tranquil visit,
We'll be back for definite.

A quiet scenic campsite that discourages groups - although the lack of an on-site warden means there's little scope for policing of behaviour.
The ground is very undulating and although everyone there seemed able to find a flat-ish pitch, numbers were lower than usual because of Covid restrictions still being in place.
Unlike reviews from a few years ago there's no longer a reception/shop, but the wardens visit daily to do cleaning and make themselves available for advice.
The toilets are in a spruced-up trailer unit: 3 toilets for women, 2 for men plus a urinal, and only 2 small hand-washing sinks on each side (albeit with warm water). No full size sinks for washing, shaving, tooth brushing, etc.
In a farm outhouse to the rear there are 2 dish-washing sinks where there could perhaps be 4, and 2 unisex showers where there could easily be 3. Seemingly plenty of hot water though and no coin payment needed.
Mercifully free of midges, but perhaps this year wasn't very midgey, or the weather wasn't conducive to the blighters.
The lake is a 10 minute stroll down the hill, past the field reserved for large groups. Lots of campers had canoes or paddleboards with them.
