This is a lovely site, ideally positioned between Newark and Linclon with much potential for days out. We made the most of the early October sunshine and sunbathed extensively.
The site is quiet at night, well managed and very tidy. I will definitely visit again and make the most of the location.
Although you can hear the A46 it is not intrusive.
The toilets/showers were recently treated to a lick of paint and were fine for our needs and didn't seem overly busy at any time.
There is a small shop at the entrance that stocks bits n bobs- I reckon most folk bring what they need though.

We had a lovely weekend at this camp site, the warden was very nice always running around on her buggy checking everything was OK.
Newark is not far about 15 minutes away. Site very clean, plenty of bins for rubbish and free showers with plenty of hot water. They are very large like a wet room. There are only 2 but we didn't have a waiting problem. Childen's play area, and the field is very large, plenty of room for your caravan and car and awnings. Mary also has a tuck shop selling all sorts of every day stuff including eggs.

Me and my girlfriend decided to have a quick weekend away, and decided on the lovely city of Lincoln.
Oakhill camp site was not only very good value, but it was in a great location, we had our pitch right next to the fishing lake. All the facilities were good, showers, toilets, etc with basic food stuffs (bread, milk) available from the campsite reception hut.
From the camp site itself it was probably a 20minute journey into lincoln, so not especially close, but if you're out all day then it's fine.
Either way there's a co-op in the next village for anything you may need.
Would visit again.

Nice clean campsite, Jill (dep warden)made time for us. Down side we went on bank holiday so campsite was full (good for the site owners) but only having 2 showers there was always long queues for the showers.
But then the whole site had electric problems they were going off all the time so if you were having a shower and the power went off you were left high & dry. Needs some money spending to update safely.
Fishing was good but only on weekdays, as come the weekend more fishermen came on and overfed the lake with buckets full of overneeded bait so in turn stopped fish catching for everyone. So don't expect too much at weekends.

Very flat site - mix of tents/ caravans/motorhomes. The best pitches of course (on edge of site) are reserved for long term visitors which is to be expected. Most visitors are in rows mid field. Beware the hook ups are a long distance from outfits sited centrally.
Limited shower /toilets - clean but basic - queues as the site was busy - inadequate for number of tents on site.
Well stocked shop - tempting array of strategically placed sweets for children.
Pleasant helpful site owner.
Limited walks.
Well placed for city of Lincoln.
Would not stay again.

Excellent stay and ideally based for visiting newark lincoln and sherwood forest.
Very clean facilities and free showers(not on a timer)the ground was level. Nice playground for children and fishing lake for adults (there is a charge ) litter was picked up daily as were the bins emptied.
Mary was very helpful. Reasonable price £16 per night with hook up. Small shop with a few essentials and gas.
There is a coop in the village. Easy to find just off a46 follow brown signs on bend after the canoeing club.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Oakhill.
A lovely quiet site, nice sized pitches and Mary was very friendly and helpful. We were a party of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids 13 and 14)in 2 tents without hookup, there was lots of space between pitches and a lovely children's playground on site.
When we arrived at the site, we were given a card to use to open the barrier(£10 returnable deposit)and given the rules of the site.
If you are an angler there is also a lake on site (£6 per day) and my son and brother in law fished there.
The showers were decent sized, however there was only 2 of them, toilets were always clean, The washing up area has 2 sinks and a washing machine in there, however the water was cold one morning and we ended up boiling the kettle and washing up in the tent.
The 5 Bells pub in Basingham was recommended to us and we were told it was about a 45 min walk, just over an hour later we arrived, and as we ordered our drinks and were looking at the menu, we were told they weren't serving food,(The sign outside said they served pizza till 6pm and we arrived just after 3pm). She did come out to us and offer to make a cheese and tomato pizza for the kids. The pub itself was very nice although the drinks were a bit on the expensive side(2 pints and 3 halfs of soft drinks £10.05).
We will be going back to Oakhill in the very near future and I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a nice quiet relaxing site.

Just returned from Oakhill after a couple of days camping.
We have stayed at this site before, and I'm pleased to say that parts of the site have been updated and refurbished.
Because it was the Bank Holiday Weekend the site was very busy, we were unable to stay in the main field so had to camp in the field next door. This was not a problem, but we would have liked an electrical hook up.
The site has only two showers, however the waiting time to use them was not long, they are also free. Mary told us that she may build an extra shower in the other field in the near future.
Security has improved with an electric barrier which you need a card for.
The site is clean and tidy and Mary has a small tuck shop where basic stuff can be purchased.
All in all a good family site that is well maintained, which I would recommend and would return to in the future.

Returned from weekend at this site and after reading other reviews and looking on Google maps thought it looked and sounded nice. Perfect location nice and quite on the local roads. Loved cycling around the countryside and stopping at few local pubs for refueling.
Now the site. Nice and flat looked like good play area but we didn't use it as we are in our mid 30s.
Just needed to say one thing. I doubt other reviewers get out much. Beware the showers and toilets. They were 'grim'. Needed a damn good fettle. Showers a little better, but don't expect to much. Big but again need good clean. Actually on the Sunday there was no paper in one cubilcle in Gents at 7am and when left at 4. 30 was still empty. Which backs up the fact I never saw any go near them with a mop and I was pitched opposite them.

We have visited this site a few times now and have always enjoyed it. The pitches are all very well spaced out and you are never just left to choose your own. We have a rather large tent and had an experience last year (not on this site) when we went out for the day and came back someone else's guide ropes were crossing ours! Mary doesn't allow this to happen. Mary. The Chief! (& Roy)are fun people and will always have a joke with you as-well as helping as much as they can. Roy even lent us his extension lead for our electric as ours wasn't long enough.
We stayed for a week this time and had a brilliant time. The sun always shines when we go to this site and actually looked like we have been abroad! Over the Easter weekend there was a power surge and our electric was on and off during the night but this added to our fun as we were only in a tent.Playing cards with the kids in candlelight was fun! My kids are 16 and 12 and always enjoy going to Oakhill. It is central to a lot of places and only 10 mins from a massive Asda supermarket!
There are only 2 showers but are very clean and newly decorated. The pot washing room has a washer and is always spotless. Even the kids like using the sinks!
Mary's tuck shop is new this year as well and also sells fresh bread on a Saturday morning.
We have booked to go to the Waddington air show again this year and are taking friends to this stay on this site with their tents and kids.
Although my kids are too old for the playground, (of which is a very good size and well equipped) it was a great place for them to be to make friends.
I would highly recommend this site to anyone who likes a quiet break away from the town and clubs and likes meeting new people. Anyone staying at this site will surely have a great time as everyone is so friendly.
Thanks to Mary who has always got a smile and willing to go that bit further to help and make your stay an enjoyable one. See you in July!
